  1. I was kind of shocked to see it closed because its such a nice day outside. I like riding on warm days and love spring skiing. I don't know what they are going to try and "save" because of closing today. There will be a rapid freeze up tonight and everything will be hard as a rock in the morning no matter who is on the snow today and how it grooms up in the morning. Should have been just a delayed opening until 10. There is always tomorrow.
  2. I am glad I read that post on PASR about pushing night skiing to Saturday night, because Camelback did not up date their condition page yet as of 9:45 a.m. Thursday about it. Was making plans to go up Friday, but now will just push it until Saturday. The only post about it was on their main page and did not see anything on their message board. http://www.skicamelback.com/?nav=content_conditions Camelback is open daily 8am to 5pm! We are skiing and riding on 18 trails including the halfpipe and the Laurel Glade Terrain Park; 5 lifts in operation including a high-speed quad lift. The snowtubing park is weekends, 9am to 9pm with all chutes and tows in operation; snowtubing will reopen on Saturday, December 17th. Camelback will begin night skiing operations on Friday, December 16th. Camelback will continue to make snow as temperatures permit. For more information check out our Conditions Page at skicamelback.com or call our snow phone at 1-800-233-8100
  3. 96 miles each way driveway to driveway and about 2hrs depending on traffic on Rt. 31
  4. Last year they opened Nile Mile before other stuff over there. I think it was Nile, The Pharaoh, Cliff in that order if I remember.
  5. They will groom tonight. Today was the best opening day in 20 years.
  6. The cam is fixed, the windshield wiper finally out of the way.
  7. Lookin at the cam this morning, it sure looks like the windshield wiper is stuck over the lens. They should get someone with a stick and move it out of the way.

    Hey CB

Lights are on the east side of mountain tonight. Can't tell by live cam if they are doing something over there, but they changed the position of the cam to face east today. Maybe that is a hint.
  9. What the hell is in the way of the Live Snowcam the past week? Did they move the camera inside for some reason. Or is the windshield wiper stuck in the front of the lens on the outside camera? Also on the daily pix, they are not linked properly because when you click on them not all of them link to the right photo.

    The loft

I mostly have had good experiences at The Loft. Most of the times I go I get pleanty of help even though most of time I don't need it. I would say 95-98% good/excellent 2-5% mixed feelings about the place. Maybe you just went on a 5% day.
  11. I thought the same thing this morning and think Marjies not open is a typo. As far as I can tell they been blowing on that since the start of making snow so there should be pleanty of base.

    Snow at CB

Yeah that would be nice too. The weather forcast calls for 24hr a day snowmaking right through the next 15 days. Hopefully that will bring 100% open by Christmas, now that would be a nice Christmas present. That's a lot to ask for because Nile and raceway take a lot of firepower, but hopefully it can be done. Hopefully they are able to make enough that we can see the new features in the terrain park real soon too. (wall ride, etc.)

    Snow at CB

Looks like nice cold snowmaking weather all this week and if its Friday December 9th for opening a real good part of the mountain should be open by then. Should be the best opening day conditions ever. Time to head down to the garage and sharpen and wax the board.
  14. Yeah that chart is just ball park, you need slightly lower numbers. Here is another chart: http://www.backyardblizzard.com/guide.htm
  15. Temperature 33.1 F (0.6 C) Windchill 24 F (-4 C) Dew Point 27.0 F (-2.8 C) Relative Humidity 77% Give it time its not quite there yet. Its got to get to 29F at that % humidity http://www.snowathome.com/home_page_files/...0fahrenheit.pdf
  16. Looks like if they spread that stuff out it will be pretty thin. I would like to see them open this weekend but better to wait a few days and have better conditions. This is the latest forcast and it even has snow in the forcast, so there will be no excuse not to open by the 10th (or sooner)......... The Northeast, Midwest and Middle Atlantic will turn significantly colder later this week. Cold air will spill southward from central Canada, Thursday and Friday. Northerly winds will drive the cold air southward through the Middle Atlantic Friday. Locations which had temperatures in the 60s and 70s earlier this week, will only have temperatures in the 20s and 30s by the weekend. Cold winds will make it feel even colder across New England. The cold surge will trigger numerous lake-effect snow showers and squalls downwind of the Great Lakes. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. North wind between 6 and 11 mph. Thursday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 40. North wind between 3 and 6 mph. Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low near 26. West wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Friday: A slight chance of snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 37. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 13 mph increasing to between 19 and 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 34. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Sunday: A chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday Night: A chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a low near 22. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Monday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Monday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Tuesday: A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 20%

Blue Mountain's opening date is Dec 2nd according to their website. Will Blue beat CB opening again this year?

    Snow at CB

I just checked the NWS website for weather this week. Looks like the warm weather won't stick arround too long and CB will be able to make snow again Wed. night. It was previously Friday before it would get cold again. If it were me I would open ASAP and take avantage of all the other areas being closed and thier snow making systems not being able to keep up. If I were in charge of marketing I would do a special early season mid-week special ticket and hours something like 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. prior to the opening weekend. The weather forcast has changed so with some luck and enough people make enough noise CB will open after the rain goes by on Wed. From the National Weather Service: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?....x=176&map.y=34 Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Friday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 42. Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low near 22. Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 40 Oh yeah...Last year CB was late to open compared to some other mountains in the area a few days later than Blue if I can remember. Now they have the opportunity to kick some a$$ and open way ahead of anyone else and they are letting it slip by.

    Snow at CB

I would say that to be a fair guess on opening day, seems like its usually a Thurs or Friday before the weekend but the weather looks a little warm so if I were to bet I would say the 3rd too. If they do like they do in other places, they will blow big piles of snow while they can "snow farm" get past the warm weather this week then push the stuff arround when it gets cold again then open.

    Snow at CB

At 1 a.m. its looking pretty good. Hopefully they can go arround the clock to open even faster.
  22. Looking at the cam the piles of snow are still there and that's a good thing. The NWS says it should switch over to snow after 12 p.m. I am a little skeptical of that, proll more like 3 p.m. Anyway low tonight is 22 so they should be able to make snow again the next few days. I would think an early December opening for all mountains in area is a fair guess at this point. Hang in there the cold weather is on its way! Check out Accuweather: http://headlines.accuweather.com/news-stor...ler=0&article=4 and NWS: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?...x=127&map.y=121
  23. At least they got something goin on. They usually start at top of mountain and work down as it gets colder they can turn more guns on, its got something to do with the amount of compressed air. The colder it is the less air they need.
  24. Looks like activity on top of Marjie's and to the right of cam (proll Meadows) with some snow blowing in front of cam every so often....they cut the sound so you can't hear it.
  25. The turned the lights on just before 7:30 so hopefully they start the guns soon.
