  1. Looking at the cam the piles of snow are still there and that's a good thing. The NWS says it should switch over to snow after 12 p.m. I am a little skeptical of that, proll more like 3 p.m. Anyway low tonight is 22 so they should be able to make snow again the next few days. I would think an early December opening for all mountains in area is a fair guess at this point. Hang in there the cold weather is on its way! Check out Accuweather: http://headlines.accuweather.com/news-stor...ler=0&article=4 and NWS: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?...x=127&map.y=121
  2. At least they got something goin on. They usually start at top of mountain and work down as it gets colder they can turn more guns on, its got something to do with the amount of compressed air. The colder it is the less air they need.
  3. Looks like activity on top of Marjie's and to the right of cam (proll Meadows) with some snow blowing in front of cam every so often....they cut the sound so you can't hear it.
  4. The turned the lights on just before 7:30 so hopefully they start the guns soon.
  5. The screws that held the straps on came loose even after tightening in the morning before riding and even adding lock-tite to the screws. The Burton dealer would replace stuff for free but would have to wait for parts to come in and a lot of times they were out of stock on certain items and subbed non matching parts. The straps also broke after only a few days on the hill. The bindings seemed to be in the shop more than on the mountain. Besides being a pain in the ass and being let down almost every trip to the mountain I decided to spend more money and I went with Nidecker and been happy with them since the switch. Bindings should not fail that much at any cost. I don't think Burton bindings are top notch and there are other brands that are better than the popular Burton. I like Burton clothing but will not ride their equipment in the foreseeable future. Ride what you want but there are better choices out there and other options besides Burton.
  6. I switched to Nidecker after riding Burton Custom Bindings that were totally crap. With the Burton Custom, the strap screws kept coming loose and the straps actually fell off while riding. I broke the straps at least 2 times and the high back lock kept breaking. After taking them back to the dealer for repair several times, Burton said it was a design defect replaced some things but problems kept up. So I bought Nidecker and have been with them since with no problems. Nidecker is not as popular of a brand name but they make great stuff and worth a look. As for riding Burton again, I was disappointed by their technical support and time getting parts for my bindings. They admitted to a design deficiency and offered no replacement just repairs that continued to break until the season ran out. I am sure they have fixed their problem a couple seasons ago but I doubt I'll go back to Burton because of their leave you high and dry attitude in the support department. 2 people with problems with Burton Customs.
  7. Nope Why would you want to pay any more money to get on the lift earlier? There is no one in line at 8 anyway, and if there is they are gone in a few moments when the lift starts. Maybe weekends but not midweek.
  8. Not what I heard, that must have been old management talking. It does have to get cold enough and the stuff has been set up for over a month. Soon as it gets cold its a go. Maybe CB is trying to put on a good poker face then shock every other mountain. I don't know for sure and only time will tell. Proll with CB is they have a lot of junk to cover up at the bottom of mountain compared to other mountains so its a day or two delay blowing enough to cover all that stuff.
  9. I can confirm that the stuff has been set up on the mountain for over a month and they are ready to go soon as it gets cold enough. There is a push to open the mountain compared to years past. I agree snow tubing sux.
  10. I find that the Nidecker Carbon 900s are the most durable on the market. I have over 100+ days on mine. Ya figure I work at the mountain all day from 730 to 7 p.m. (even 10:30 p.m.) all night (that's a doubble day compared to most), plus going to Hunter, Killington, Telluride, and a bunch of other places besides work. Nidecker is not as popluar in the US but are worth the money. You can buy them at Mike and Matt's in PA or Pelican in NJ. Check them out: http://www.nidecker.com
  11. Purl also manufactures a superior line of fluoro additives specifically designed for Riders who want to get the highest level of performance from their gear. Our focus on product performance rather than flashy advertising campaigns allows us to offer High Performance fluoro lines at a reasonable price. Check out the Fluoro Racing Powder Application: Sprinkle the Powder in an even distribution across your base and apply moderate pressure with a cork back and forth to bond the powder to the base wax. Use a horsehair brush or a roto brush to polish your base until it shines. Fluoro Powders are often referred to as the ?one run wonder.? While powder additives do provide incredible speed, they only stay on your base for one or two runs. Purl Liquid Glide offers a Fluoro Polyethylene blend to make your fluoro experience last longer. The Polyethylene molecules bond with your base while the fluoro molecules interact with the snow providing very high speeds and impressive durability. http://purlracing.com/osc/catalog/privacy.php Check out their website for info on that wax.
  12. I am glad CB is finally making some terrain park improvements. The wall ride is a step in the right direction hopefully they get more improvements in before winter.
  13. I hear that they are getting rid of some of the old junk rails and replacing them with some decent ones. I'll know more next week.
  14. Have not been on in a couple of weeeks. Yeah that's proll the wall ride. I was told that there was going to be one this year. Get ready for some other stuff too.
  15. I wish I went to VT this summer.
  16. I adjusted some things in that baseball shot. You can now see the face without it looking fake.
  17. I like that shot but if I were the photographer I would used the Shadow/Highlight option in PhotoShop CS2 to lighten the face so you could see the emotion.
  18. Go out and photograph every day. (or as much as possible) You'll get good stuff as well as disappointments. Like this one yesterday it came up a little soft and slightly out of focus. I was down at the 10 yard line and they were on the other side of field and camera could not track the guys running fast enough. It was a pick off and there was a story behind it. I sharpened it in Photo Shop but I don't know if it will be enough to use. The second photo I used Photo Shop to lighten the shadows so you can see the players eyes but not enough to screw up the photo. They are just every day photos nothing special.
  19. If he is using some of today's digital cameras he would need a 16mm, 24 was pretty wide for 35mm. You have to take in the 1.6x conversion factor for most digital cameras and that 16 will give you 25.6mm The plus side is if you have a 200mm 2.8 lens its a 320mm 2.8 without the cost. Throw a 1.4x on it and you have a 448 f4
  20. 5 people where I work went south as part of the relief effort. They told me its worse than they are making it out on the news. They are not allowed to talk to the media because its that bad. (they are now FEMA employees-not just firefighters) Those people down there really need your help. So wether you send $25. to Creek to forward it to Red Cross or you donate on your own, just donate because they need it bad. I am headed to a meeting at work to collect stuff for the relief effort. Its really bad and thats from the guys on the front lines.

    A rumor

Someone told me not to expect anything much this year. Don't count on anything.
  22. I just heard don't expect too much this year.
  23. Gas is down 10c in Jersey today. Hopefully after Labor Day travel it gets back to a more normal price. If it stays above that $3. mark too long I will make a lot less trips to the mountains this winter.

    A rumor

To do it right they need to buy some tower guns and set them up permanently on the side of trail and blow fresh stuff every night.
  25. I work for one of the mountains a couple days a week, and its looking like its not going to be worth it this winter. I pretty much work there for fun but the gas price is going to take any fun out of it. Truck = 15 MPG Gas = $3.25 Mileage 95 miles each way, total 190 each day. = $41.00 or more just in gas for each day worked.
