    Hey All,

I’m back from another fun session at Blue mountain. Everybody was in the house except for Root, Justo, Schifdawg, Shadows and ZZSlope.  It was in the low 20s to start with a rising sun.  The snowmaking cannons were blasting to the max on lower Main Street, midway and lazy mile.

First run on Coming Soon was pretty decent but lower Paradise was bad.  Solid cookies, ice and lots of people.  Burma was also pretty slick and busy and the upper part of Paradise wasn’t that bad.  Crowds were pretty light but the ski instructors and race team are back clogging up the terrain.

I didn’t plan on hanging out in the lot long but put in a decent lot session with lots of PASRs and enjoyed cheese balls and chips.  All in all it wasn’t the best skiing but was better than not skiing and got to hangout with Salty, nastar Glenn and Matt edge.  JADIP

    Holding out for more terrain.

Welcome back ZZSlope any ski trip plans this winter?

Nothing in particular, Thoughts of Vermont, and Utah as always. Retirement is a focus now, then trips. Motorcycle touring more than anything.

  3. I learned to ski at Belle Mt. in Lambertville in the mid/late 70's. They kept skiers from sliding into the street with haybale walls, every once in a while someone would ski into one. Those walls stopped a lot of runaway skis from going into the street. I remember many winter nights sitting in a car in the parking lot across the street with friends, partying and watching for wipeouts.

Another lost ski area was on route 611 in Pipersville pa. at the intersection of route 413 and route 611. I remember it being called the Pipersville Chalet. The ski area closed long ago, but the lodge is still an operating bar/restaurant.

Blue should end the free season passes for 70+ folks...I know demographics better than most and they’re going to be giving away a shit ton of free season passes in the next 2-5 years...most of those people can very much afford season passes.  I think maybe 10% off for those over age 69.   Shit I have customers who ask if we offer a senior citizen discount and they just get a hard “NO”...I do give local discounts and a PASR discount.  I always thought it was dumb that olds should get things cheaper. My parents save like a dollar at the movie theater and sneak in their own snacks.

I heard through the lift ride rumor mill blue is/was considering raising the age to 75.

Snow on side, switch and particularly challenge was super super good. Hard and stupid fast but smooth and excellent grip.

Razors they blew on and was a glue factory. Main I didn't even dick with as it was all freshly blown frozen marbles.

I'm always glad to go but super glad I got up this morning, some of the best hard snow challenge runs all season.

Agree, Challenge was really nice. Lazy was a lot of fun as well. The initial stickiness on razors improved as more people skied on it.

Well than you should have confronted them. Shit like that doesn’t bother me. If they have a handicapped placard they’re entitled to park in handicapped places.  I never see any good tailgates in the handicapped section so I ain’t tripping.

Confronting someone over parking in a handicapped spot is how the guy got shot and killed in Florida in the video that was on the news a while back.

I thought the slopes were in pretty good shape today with the massive exceptions of Challenge and Razors. Top slope of Razors looked like someone deliberately tried to make it unskiable. Down near the jumps was better. Challenge was ok, but nowhere near as good as yesterday. With the rough condition of those two, I was pleasantly surprised at Sidewinder, Lazy, Switchback and Main Street.

I agree with all of this report, plus widowmaker was very firm, and burma was in good shape. Had a real good day skiing yesterday with hayata. Even though the lines are long at the six they seem to move along ok. The burma lift sitting idle with long lines on both sides is a bit ridiculous. ROTD = sidewinder.

  8. Left a little early, glad I did, got ahead of the slick stuff, I need to move closer. Sleepy hollow and switchback were good. I moved to the little gap side early but as has been the case a lot this season, the Burma chair did not start spinning until late. Added another fun day to a good year so far.

Today as meh.  Could tell it was going to turn to sugar, and the wind was out of the north, the least desirable for Blue.  At least it was sunny.

When you blew by me on challenge I don't think you where actually touching the snow.

I meant quad.  I can’t even find on blues website that the six pack is down. Says 36 of 40 runs open and 10 of 16 lifts.  Navigating blues website is like an old Run DMC song.  It’s tricky

They have had a VIP line at the quad a couple times this year. Didn't mean much, still had to wait the same as everyone else once past the gate. The conditions at blue on everything but sidewinder were very good today. Sidewinder was rock hard with cookies on top, not much fun. Barney's was a little slick in between the bumps but still fun. Skied the sleepy hollow glade the conditions at the bottom of that required your attention. The six of course was down and they were only spinning the main street chair on the little gap side (vista chair too I guess) so the lines there grew quickly. But overall a great day.
