skierboi Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 WOuld you recomend Woodbury for like a trip in early nov. , b/c i got to get use to my 184's befroe the killington race
skifreak Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Skierboi, I take you read the post on the snowguns fourm about woodbury? I think its cool how a place in CT is able to open up that early becasue the cold air gets trapped in the valley.
skierboi Posted October 7, 2005 Author Report Posted October 7, 2005 ya thats why im asking, b/c i heard about it on that website
poconoceancity Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 never heard of it...when does it open? How much vert and how far from the poconos or south jersey?
skierboi Posted October 8, 2005 Author Report Posted October 8, 2005 it opens late oct, early nov, 300 vert, and it is 2hr 12 min from me in somewhat NE NJ
poconoceancity Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 300 ft. vert. Probably not worth it?
skifreak Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Early skiing, I guess we will have to take what we get or wait for Bellayare or K-mart to open.
Ski Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Woodbury is a little place owned by a guy that takes great pride in opening before KMart. But he has said Woodbury is on borrowed time and every year might be it's last. They just lost a big lawsuit from some skier or boarder that got hurt and their insurance premiums have doubled. You might wait and see how early Belleayre gets it's guns going. They usually beat Windham and have some good runs. I'll never do ealry season at Hunter again...Hunter makes Honeymoon Lane seem wide open and empty.
cmoney Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 (edited) ill prob just end up going to bellyeare and by the way(this is skierboi's bro, i just joined) Edited October 9, 2005 by cmoney
AlpineZone Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 (edited) 300 ft. vert. Probably not worth it? 34848[/snapback] Depends on where you live, I guess. It's usually only a small patch (not full vertical). It's a bit amusing how they claim to "beat" Killington some years though. Killington's new policy is to only open when they have top-to-bottom terrain. It's not a fair comparison... Edited October 9, 2005 by AlpineZone
skidude Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 Well I would assuming killington has about 10X the snowmaking power, and they don't have 10x the vertical....
poconoceancity Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 pretty close to 10x the vertical.
skidude Posted October 9, 2005 Report Posted October 9, 2005 (edited) Not really... They will open one or 2 trails on K1...Its more vert then anyone else has at that time, which is good... But they claim to have 3,050 vert...Which i see on about one trail... Then again, any snow is better than no snow... Edited October 9, 2005 by skidude
