boardsnow
so a couple weeks ago i went snowboarding and ended up spending the rest of the weekend in the hospital after a gnarly little fall. when i got home my board was still packed in the bag, and my edges were never dried. as you can guess i ended up with a nice little rust problem. im startin to get closer to the day i can hit the slopes again so i decided to clean em up, any suggestions for rust removal? Gurp
my edges rusted on mine cause i left them ontop of my car in the rack. My suggestion is to do like i did. Just ride it. Itll take the rust off fine. Edited January 24, 2006 by Gurp

nick malozzi
when i have that problem i grab an old towel and just buff the edges with it (put some force into it). It won't get it all off, but it will get enough off so that when you get to the mountain it won't be too noticeable while you ride, and by the end of the day 99% of that rust will be gone. adrian
just remember to wipe it off or let it drip off next time. riding will remove it. if you need immediate removal or have intense black oxidization, they have stones for that. Gurp
probably better to let the snow take it off so u dont screw up ur edges too bad
toast21602
just ride it. mine get rusty every day after im done skiing. it has no effect on anything because most of it is gone after your first run or the first rail that you hit. adrian
probably better to let the snow take it off so u dont screw up ur edges too bad my swix red gummi stone is effective and goof proof. i approve.
kragan
my swix red gummi stone is effective and goof proof. i approve. I agree. These can be found in almost any ski shop and are very inexpensive. They are soft leaving almost a 0 chance of damaging edges. I have 2 of my own and have come in very handy over the years. skibum803
What i do is take a normal edging tool, and reverse it to the bottom of the edges, and set it to 0 degrees, and scrape away all the rust, then i do my normal (side) edges again, and then wax my skis. It works perfectly, but you might be able to do it a couple of times, so dry your equipment every time you use it.
