How does bamboo work with shinguards ski999?

Ha, shinguards...you sure weren't shinning any gates back in those days, 'Dude. It was sometimes referred to as 'back scratching', because you dipped your inside shoulder and it seemed like you were clearing the gate with your shoulder blade as you came under the gate. You did this while keeping a very narrow stance and A-framed for leverage.

 

And now I pay huge sums of money for camps to erase all this stuff from my brain.

 

Oh, and we never did go to that race. I think our own hill had a community race that day.

That doesn't answer my question....I can re-inforce my shinguards with DUCT TAPE!, and just go at the gates...but then agian, If there not bamboo, it probably wouldn't be much fun

Bamboo is light and just gets knocked over. We use it for our races at The Hideout. But the kids just ski around them and not through them. I imagine you could splinter it if you hit it really hard on a cold day. Real racers would make a mess out of a bamboo course...

 

Haven't been there in the winter, POC, just in the summer to scout it for grass skiing. I forget who, but someone here has been. It actually has what looks like a nice diamond, so we're definitely hitting it this season.

That one long run looks like fun. I can't figure out the best way to get there from the BB area. Do you think it's closer than Elk?

Elk is 26 miles from me, while Big Bear is 24...but the last eight miles of roads to Big Bear are 25mph.

 

Try a Mapquest from Lake Harmony---or wherever to Masthope. It's shows up as 67 miles. If you take the back roads to where 715 crosses over 380 (I believe it's 715---the Tobyhanna exit) you are exactly 45 miles from Big Bear.

 

BB is about 70 miles of highway to Elk...

How much vertical is the Grizzly lift?

Probably between 550 and 600. The hill is 650 and most of the vertical looked like it was mid-mountain. We went over without looking at a trail map first, so I wasn't 100% certain what we hiked. I was bummed at how rocky the terrain was (too rocky for grass skis).

 

It it seems that it would take about an hour to get there. I'm trying it this year unless someone else who doesn't care about park riding goes first and gives it a bad report.

I'm definitely hitting it as soon as "skier's right" opens.

I bet your owners would come up with a great ticket price...they treat our ASRA racers great. They bend over backwards to keep us happy.

really? they are nice to you? The two owners are very stubborn to us locals/instructors. But hey tell them that you run a pa skiing website and you are having a site day and im sure they will hook up up with something.
