  1. I like mine forward... basically always. hmmm, easy turnability...
  2. 001: I don't agree. I doubt the Foy's make any money from ASRA. They pay for the race trail for the day, which is costly, especially at the bigger resorts. The medals cost money, as do the door prizes - and, most are bought, not donated. Each race needs 35-50 racers to break even - they've had to phased out places because they lose money. Your message sounds like you think ASRA is a substandard operation. ASRA has a terrific reputation - people from all over the country recognize and respect it. The Foys may not be pros, in that they don't run it like a business, but they do a first rate job at providing Master's opportunity for improvement and competitive fun.
  3. What does the varizone setting do?
  4. I got my new Marker piston bindings with the plate for around $100, through ASRA. They rule. Why pay more than that... ...Marker bindings rule...

    My Skis Are Here

I lovingly caressed my beloved P50's , gave my adopted Equipe's a quick hug , and even said hello to the evil Stocklis . All I need is a GS ski I can dance with and my race collection will be complete.

    My Skis Are Here

Very nice, 'Freak. Good job on the photography. We'll need a few more shots with the bindings on. Also, don't ignore the bases since they are more important than any snakeskin. hmmm...winter...

  8. $180 for bindings??????

    HRM's ? :confused

I wouldn't ski in it. It's for cross training - improving cardio. Running and erging are SO DULL, I thought it might make cardio more tolerable. Also, wouldn't it be fun to see how exertional certain other activities are...

    HRM's ? :confused

Pulsatile tinnitus. You probably have an expanding cerebral aneurysm, just waiting to rupture. It's no problem unless it goes...
  11. She'll be all set for Tanglwood with 148's.

    HRM's ? :confused

Heart rate monitors are exercise freak stuff, not doctor stuff. They are equivalent to the altimeter for skiers... for those of us who are motivated by following trivial data. Gotta follow that data...
  13. Is it Monday yet? It's Monday! The more relevant question is "Is it winter yet?"

Any of you know anything about heart rate monitors? There are a ton of options. Any recommendations, or personal experience?

    Hot wax

Sometimes we don't bother to scrape when we use warm wax, and it doesn't make much difference if it is just free skiing. Extra wax on the surface is slow, so don't race with it. Cold wax left on can make you ski in slow motion. It's nasty stuff, and hard to scrape off when you are on the hill.
  16. OK, I'll guess. Atomic is a no brainer. Either GS or SL11's. Snakeskin to impress the chickies. Maybe 175ish for GS... Or 80 in length and a jazzy color.
  17. What'd you get, '999? We need all the specs... length, turning radius, bindings...and if they are for the '999let, we need to know the color.
  18. They Foys run ASRA as volunteers from start to finish, without any slushfund, and on top of whatever work they do for a living. They organize all the races and clinics, maintain the computer programs that calculate the handicaps and places, purchace and maintain all the ski equipment, purchace medals, etc. It's a miracle they are able to maintain even a minimal website. No arguement that a fancy website would help get a few extra folks - especially the younger crowd. But, ASRA racers are mostly club racers, and their only interest is in seeing the schedule of events and results. Even though a few of us ski bums noticed it was down, most racers would not have reason to look at the website off season. It would be cool to have a nicer website. Want to volunteer???

  20. Sure looks like she's having fun.
  21. Dthmtluncrn: What have you been smoking? Never mind, I don't want to know.
  22. Just some land. If I knew it wouldn't turn into the mob scene Northridge has (at CB), I'd be more tempted to build on it. The good thing about it is, it's out of the way. The bad thing about it is, it's out of the way...
  23. We bought some investment property there, so we've been there, though I haven't skied it - iceman (AKA skidad) has with some of the mumlets. I have hiked their hill, which is about the size of Big Boulder, and it has a reasonable pitch. Their snowmaking is causal and their lifts are slow. They are only open Fri-Sun. The good thing is they never have lines. Poconooceancity, if you want to try it, e-mail me. I can probably get you a free pass.

    Tuning Equipment

Wow, she sounds like a great match for '999. But, he better not...Mrs. '999 would frown on it.
