  1. So what's the plan for Saturday? Everyone meet at the top of the 6'pack at 9am?

  3. Just go, if it rains bring a raincoat. A little rain never hurt anyone, except for the Wicked Witch of the West.
  4. Wow, amazing deal. I might have to make a trip up to Camelback.

  6. I was planning on making first chair, but my alarm clock went off at 5am to awake up and decided there was no way I was gonna wake up. So I set it up snooze for another. Pretty eventful drive up, one accident on route 100 northbound just south of Bally. Looks like a pretty bad accident, since there were 6 or 7 firefighters and EMTs trying to get this one guy out of his truck with a stretcher right by. I was getting pretty angry with the drive thru Whitehall, I believe I had every light turn red on me; pretty annoying. Then Blue Mountain Drive was closed for a section between Lehigh and Route 940. While talking to a few people at the mountain it was due to flooding and a car actually got stuck in it. So anyways, with all that ... I strolled in at 9:00. The weather was overcast, foggy, and warm. I decided to go with the UnderArmour w/ my EMS vest. It was a good call. The rain defiantly made some of the snow very firm. Did my first run down Razors, then did each trail to the left after that. (except Sidewinder) TruTV was out in full force today, they really didn't have much to tape earlier in the day, it was extremely quiet. So instead, they decided to tape some patrollers take themselves down Switchback. They did it a few times, which I found was funny. The rain started to kick in around noon'ish for about 20 minutes, I decided to go to lunch instead of skiing in the rain. I came back out and the blue skies were out. All the snow defiantly softened up, but since no one was there, no piles whatsoever. Made for good fast, long arc turns. Around 1pm, the 6pack broke down. Yes, broke down. Something about the torque. They had to start up the backup engine to get the people off it. It was about a 10-15 minutes delay before they opened up the quad to deal with it. They got the 6pack opened up in 30 mins and they closed the quad again. Everyone started to arrive around noon. I left around 2pm because the lines were starting to form and I was there since 8:30. On a side note, I heard today Blue is the official mountain for the reality tv show. I'll be back on Friday for the Regional USCSA race at Blue.
  7. When I scanned in this morning, there was a camera pointed at the Lodge at all the people. I started ranting about Reality TV as loud as I could, the scanning-person just laughed. There was another camera-operator at the bottom of Home Stretch. I still can't believe Blue Mountain is being considered for this, maybe the only reason it because they receive some of the most "skier visits" to the First Aid lodges.
  8. Hey'oh- I decided to do all my TR's in one, instead of doing them all in separate threads. 2/9 --------------------------------------------------------- Was gonna try to get first chair, but I woke up at 3am for some odd reason and decided that there was no way in "anything" that I was gonna get up in 2hrs, so I left in 'til 10am. At 11am, I left my house and took Route 100 to the 'Boot. Got there around 12:30, suited up. This was my first time back to Blue since January 3rd. I spend the last few weeks skiing Mad River, Bolton, Elk and Wisp. When I got there, the parking lot was PACKED. I got worried that there was gonna be long lift lines. However, the lines weren't really there, maybe 5 minutes; but that was it. I decided to try out Razors Edge for the first one, tried to get to full speed; however it was waaaaay to bumpy to try that about 1/2 way down it calmed down and I could start getting into my long arcs. Main Street was also semi-like Razors, but a little better. Switchback was from what I could remember in descent conditions. Lazy mile had the best, but not great conditions. I skiied 'til about 3:30 then drove home. 2/10 --------------------------------------------------------- Pulled into 'ole Booter around 8am after a lovely snow squall. It was a clear drive all the way 'til 143 and Blue Mountain Drive, where the snow fell fast. I was a little worried about trying to get up the hill with my little Focus, but to my shock PennDOT was actually salting that early in the morning. I pulled in, suited up and got going. The conditions were a little better than Saturday. However it did get warm quickly, I was constantly zippering and unzippering my "pit zips". On my second run, I went down main street ... went down it my usual speed (pretty fast) got thru the top part and started for some longer arcs on the second half where my right ski got caught up in some snow and I immediately popped both skis off and fell hard on my back, wacking my head on the snow. Definitely took me a few minutes to regain composure, I just laid there trying to get up. If I was gonna lay there for a minute longer ... I was probably going to ask for a tobaggon to take me down. I eventually got up and got back on and went on for the rest of the day. As the day progressed the conditions definitely got more choppier and I had to put my racing style away for the rest of the day. All in all, descent day. The wind down Tut's lane was insane ... I had to go into full tuck to get down without skating. I saw Doug and Justin going down Sidewinder once as I was going up in the morning and never saw them again. Switchback was back into it's conditions that I've always known it for, the pocono "powder" all over, and it was a pleasure to ski. 2/11 --------------------------------------------------------- Decided to take the evening off and headed up to Booter for some arctic skiing. I don't have a thermometer on my car or anything, but it was pretty cold. The wind was blowing a little but not by much. I strolled in around 4:15 and scanned in around 4:30. Did my first run down Razors, Razors was in one of the best conditions I ever skiied on it. Not too much snow on top and yet just enough snow on top. I laid all my energy into those turns and actually begun to sweat a little ( I regretted that later ). I then proceeded down Main Street and it was the same way. Perfect Conditions. Challenge was the same also. The night was pretty damn good except for the cold. I actually for the first time in probably 2 years actually wore a face mask. I tried skiing my first run without it and immediately put it back on. In the meantime, back to work. Got to love IT Security jobs and their standard 9-5 shifts. I'll return back to Booter probably for Sunday afternoon and Monday morning for P-day. I think I'm gonna switch it up and ski Sno maybe on Saturday, but we'll see.
  9. Bathing Suit? Check. Scuba Goggles? Check. Snorkel? Check. I'll be there no matter what. It's my birthday tomorrow, I go skiing every year on my birthday, no matter what the weather.
  10. I was wrong from above, according to the site ... the tickets are only good at JF.
  11. http://www.wmmr.com/pages/pages.php?page=110
  12. the tickets are $9.33, you can only get them thru WMMR. (from what I believe, 'cause I was there last year) they are good at JF & BB. I'll be there for a few hours. I'm making a stop at JF, on my way to VT for a weekend at Stowe and Sugarbush.
  13. I blacked out from a skiing accident in Killington last November, I also had a very very mild concussion too and that's WITH the helmet on. I always recommend a helmet. (Don't ask me how I managed to crash and blackout, I don't even remember how I fell, all I remember was seeing this ditch Killington didn't mark off and then waking up to the Ski Patrol attending to me)
  14. I will be up later today for a night session.
  15. Christmas Eve - strolled up around 11am, and skied mostly Lazy Mile, Paradise, and Main Street. Challenge was a mess and stayed away from it after skiing it twice. The crowds were low, which was nice. Tried to find other PASR's, but wasn't able too. My iPod died around 2pm and ruined the rest of the day for me, so I left around 2:15pm. Today - Strolled up around noon and was hoping the rain was going to stay away. I decided to bust out my old skis to see how they compared to my new ones, but after one run I already noticed it and went back to the AC30's. The amount of "sliding" on the ice was doing was too much, it was crappy. I brought those skis to the ski-check and went out with the AC30's. The difference was incredible, those damn things gripped anything. The lines slowly grew and my displeasure for Blue Mountain grew for not opening up Comet, most of the lift attendants agreed. At around 2pm, I decided enough was enough and went in for lunch to cool off. As soon as I sat down, Comet was turned on for the '07-'08 season. As I went up on Comet, I noticed the new trail, and damn it's wide. I wish they would had it finished. It looks awesome. The lines for Challenge Lift went to nothing afterwards. The amount of yeti's were insane. I've just about had it with people sitting and standing in the intersection of Lazy Mile, The Falls, and Sidewinder. I yelled at everyone of them. The snow was the same that it's been on the past few days. Challenge from the top to about where the trees start was slipped, then a little better. Paradise and Lazy Mile was where it's at. Main Street was also nice. I skied 'til about 3:30. I left at the perfect time, because as I was making the left onto 145 off Blue Mountain Drive, it started to rain. Hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow ... I have to work, hopefully I can get out early for a night session. Here's my wish list for Blue Mountain... - Open up sidewinder, make it a free-skiing trail, I don't care. JUST OPEN THE DAMN THING UP. - It's already been mentioned by Doug, but open up the Ticket Window BEFORE 7:30, around 7am would be nice. - Fix the potholes in the parking lot. - Start patrolling the areas that people stand around the most. It's a safety issue. - Finish the website. - Start making snow on Razor's and Switchback. - More to come later...
  16. The new site looks nice, but it's still busted. I'm not impressed. Still alot of broken links, the formatting still isn't uniform, and they should bring in their other departments into the site (ski school, ski patrol, etc...) to make them all uniform. The main site looks great, that's nice, yet the ski patrol and ski school pages look like s**t. They also represent the "mountain's internet image" There is alot of this crap, "Edit index.snippet.aspx in the CMT.", and why do they have a mobile version if you can't easily access it via something like m.skibluemt.com? They should of did more testing and design work on it before they launched it.
  17. Woke up a little late this morning and decided against the Route 100 route and took the turnpike instead. Drove on in to the Valley Lodge around 7:15, and gear'ed up. I was the second person at the ticket gate, met up with Doug and grabbed first chair. Did the first run down Lazy Mile, and met up with Jeff and Justin ... n0xidee and toast joined the group very shortly after. The snow was in descent condition. Surprisingly the Blue Mountain Race Team was in good today, they didn't block anything. I was kind of shocked. Looks like the Ski Patrol was out today certifying the 1st year patrollers, doing tobaggon training and having "simulated accidents" around the mountain. I was lucky, I managed to ski an empty main street most of the time, which allowed me to fully rip it. Lazy Mile was hit or miss on whether it would be crowded or not. I basically alternated Lazy Mile / Main Street all day. Left around 11, the same time as Nastar Glenn. Plays of the day: The Vines - Get Free Sixx AM - Life is Beautiful Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American Definetly not excited for tomorrow. I might be back for a Tuesday night trip after work, but that's tentative ...
  18. I'm not very picky, as long as there is snow and it's not ice ... I'm happy.
  19. What up. Short TR today for me. Left work around 3:40'ish and tried "north" route to Blue today took the Turnpike to Mahoning Valley. Arrived at Blue around 5:40 and suited up at the bottom lodge, I forgot how much I missed that lodge. Rode the six pack all day, alternating between Lazy Mile and Main Street the whole time. Pulled some nice carves, the snow was hard packed but not iced over. I flipped out at the Ridge Ski Team today, those flppin' idiots like to take up half the trail when they sit around, eventually a patroller told them to move. I was rockin' out to my new ski mix today, so much better. I left around 9pm, and headed to Kildares in West Chester for an hour then headed home. Tomorrow i'm gonna try the Route 100 to Route 22 tomorrow, seeing how that compares to the turnpike at 5am. The plays of the day are ... Blink 182 - Rock Show Incubus - Oil and Water Jack Johnson - Flake (for the "taking it easy" runs) I'll see you all in about 7 hours... Today's ranking ... 7/10
  20. I'll be there around 6:30 'til closing. Representin' the Blue WC Ski Team jacket.
  21. Just came in from SteepandCheap...
  22. Here's my TR for today. Arrived around 11:30, was going to be there at opening ... but I looked at my alarm clock at 5:30 and shut it off. Got everything on and went out. The snow was pretty much perfect for carving, I let it all out. Skied alternating Main Street and Lazy Mile. The place was crowded at the bottom, but the runs were pretty empty. The lift line was about 5 minutes, nothing bad. I was rockin' my blue West Chester Ski Team jacket. I rolled out around 3pm. The Ski Patrol was out in force I believe ticketing people. Hopefully this "winter mix" duds out tomorrow, then I'll definitely be there. I'm praying the 6-pack will be open tomorrow. btw, Blue Mountain Drive ... is that a state road or a local road?
  23. For old 1930's pictures for your enjoyment.
