  1. You think I could get me own late night show with comic material like that?
  2. A fine time with my kids and best buddy today. Snow in the trees was ridiculously deep and powdery to the point that I needed an assist getting my daughters out of there and we stuck to the trails after that. Big props to the patrollers that lent a hand. Worse problems to have than too much snow in late March in PA.
  3. Not a whole lot probably. When they first talked about opening it I lived 5 miles away and I thought it would be a great place to teach my kids without being too cold or far. Now it is 40 trafficy miles away, and it would be small and quite likely mobbed with lousy skiers crashing into eachother. I would check it out as a novelty in bad weather and see what I thought of it, but probably would not want to spend a lot of time there. If my kids wanted to get into ski racing it might be a good place to get them training for that year round.
  4. In may they announced a deal to bring in Snow Operating to on this as "Big Snow America" - now looking to open fall 2018, also with a water park and theme park there. I take it with a few grains of salt at this point. But more likely to open indoor skiing in an already built structure 10 miles from NYC than at Blue
  5. They should open the indoor ski area they already built for Xanadu at Meadowlands about a decade ago.
  6. Campgaw makes it the best
  7. It is just a shtick. In reality I have a friend who owns a snowboard. He finds it makes eastern hills more interesting since he is not as good on it as he is on skis.
  8. Cool! And with video of descent. Too bad it was made by someone standing sideways on a super fat ski.
  9. One could skin up and earn some turns at Belle Mountain in Lambertville today. 190' of vertical still popular with sledders since it closed 20 years ago.
  10. That's why discerning NJ residents ski in NY and PA. When Hidden Valley was public and I lived 40 minutes away, I sometimes went there in preference to the much larger MCreek less than a mile away, on account of HV not sucking as much.
  11. To be fair, it is the best ski area open to the public in NJ.
  12. Gonna hit this place again with my kids Sat, using free passes. They got 30" and will be 100% open when they start post storm operation at noon tomorrow. As little traffic as they get, there may well even be some fresh track to be had on Sat. Will make day 24, busting through my earlier 21 day record with at least a couple more weekends to go.
  13. Fortunately a nearby sheep reported the incident. Only EWE can prevent forest fires - S.T.Bear
  14. There were some lift lines. Probably up to 3 min for large groups but as a single I had basically no wait. In good weather I can do the trip in 2:15 (vs 1:40 for Bluebird CB), but this morning was like 2:50 as there was snow falling and on road. Made it home in about 2:25, partially in rush hour. Would be nice if the runs were longer and the lifts were faster no doubt - but then the lines would likely be longer too.
  15. Yeah probably should have just found a room between the 2, if I had planned it better.
  16. Not crowded. I went after work, drive took longer than expected, and did not want to stay that late as roads were likely to ice up. Just some icing on the day to get me psyched for today at Montage.
  17. Well that was epic. 24" of fresh snow untouched before today with more falling - left ungroomed on Smoke, White Lightning, Rattler and parts of other black trails, with all the lower woods in play. Western skiing in NEPA
  18. Up and at em. There for opening if road conditions permit.
  19. Was definitely in the minority on skis. I would guesstimate 25-30% skiers
  20. Montage is saying they got 30" with more coming. Looking forward to checking it out tomorrow. Smoke, Boomer, Rattler and White Lightning ungroomed.
  21. The turnpike was down to 1 lane at one point and the back roads had some patches of unplowed snow. It was worse driving than I expected but completely manageable.
  22. Got out for some twilight turns. First time here since they changed the name from Doe. A foot of fresh snow with the west peak left ungroomed and full coverage in the trees made for a beautiful evening utterly unlike any recent East coast skiing (or my last skiing at Doe). There is more pitch than I remembered to some of the slopes too. Has a BOGO coupon that together with the reduced ticket price today meant I skied for $12.50.
