  1. At the Last Run Lounge here enjoying a Limbo IPA. Just noticed they have shrimp and "crap" dip. Gonna try. I'll report back later.
  2. man you are obsessed with a bad burger I barely remember... I guess you should stay away from slope side because I once had a bad experience like the first week they opened.
  3. I have had decent ones there. Still for half the price there are many burgers in the valley that are much better. Cafe burgers are probably what you think I was talking about. Either way, taste is subjective so try it out yourself and report back!
  4. I tried the sheetz thing once based on doug's glowing recommendation. Have not returned.
  5. This actually happened to me twice. I turn around to look at the chair coming at me and I see some jackhole right behind me forcing me to jump to the side. Last thing I want to do is sit on some goobers lap. Dafuq was with all the noobs on opening day?
  6. Obviously everyone is different but in my case no amount of training helps with skiing the bigger mountains. Just have to ski them. With the proper mix of protein, beer, Advil, and hot tubbing by day 3 I've skied all the soreness out of me and I'm good to go.
  7. Last week I saw two different people snap skis in half near the binding. One was a blizzard and the other was a nordica. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone snap a ski in half in my life let alone two in one week!
  8. Also, a girl had her Jeep Wrangler stolen. I watched her freak when she realized her keys and wallet weren't in her bag. Her friend says "at least they didn't take your car... Oh wait, did they?". Frantically she runs out to the lot and, sure enough, comes back crying. Called her dad who didn't believe her. Made her cry more. I chased down the security guy for her to get authorities involved ASAP. Wonder if this will make the Morning Call. Crazy.
  9. Had the mountain to myself tonight. Was pretty fuckin awesome. Good carving snow. Not really any bumps like yesterday but good to not worry about 50 people on the trail. Sweet sweet cream cheese all night.
  10. As someone who couldn't afford health insurance between the ages of 18-25, the answer is simple: don't break your leg or have a heart attack. It sucked having to be concerned with these things as a skier... There were a lot of risks (jumps, cliffs, etc.) I didn't take that my friends did and it was because I knew I didn't have health insurance. Now, at 36 and with employer subsidized insurance, I only take calculated risks because it's fucking expensive to pay hospital bills even with insurance.
  11. I couldn't tell if they blew Friday night or not but saw some whales on superstar (which was the lift to take if you don't like crowds). I also saw some bears on superstar... A momma and 3 cubs.... That was a first for me. They disappeared somewhere in the trees between superstar and skylark. There was definitely some good skiing to be had. Look forward to next week.
  12. I think they actually closed a trail. Had 21 a few days ago, iirc. Now 20 trails open. Should be interesting this weekend.
  13. A basin was sick. Nice steeps. Nice bumps. Lifts were always stopping for reason though. Didn't really snap any pics there but took a few at Loveland.... Also a fantastic place. Both spots get the Dude's seal of approval. I can't wait to go back when everything is open. What's nice is you don't get that corporatized commercialized feel. It's raw. It's dirty. And it's real. Also, when I was loading up the car to head back to the airport I looked up and was face to face with this guy: I froze. Slowly stepped back and took this snap. Anyway... All this rain would make for a nice coating of snow if it was cold enough. Balls.
  14. Not what I wanted to hear. Balls man. That was fun and I wanted to keep improving.
  15. Nothing will prepare you better than this:
  16. Yep, exactly what I was saying... Revenue doesn't tell the whole story.
  17. $56M surprises me. I'd love to see a balance sheet. Hard to tell much just based on revenue but one thing is certain: blue cuts as many corners as possible with respect to operations and employee treatment.
  18. I believe his name was Greg. He relocated to CO. Forget where exactly but there is a chance I'll see him in a week. if that's true then why are they asking ski instructors to paint benches and shit without pay? Blue has invested a shit ton into the mountain the past few years and probably won't be breaking-even on those investments for another few years. Regardless, I'm sure insurance will cover this particular judgement.
  19. It will be interesting. Fingers crossed. I had high hopes for this season but it's just not panning out so far. Had to cancel my thanksgiving plans at Killy because no way they'll be top to bottom by then. Instead I have have to get on a plane to ski in the month of Nov. A Basin should be sweet, though.
  20. At a rate of one quarter per week that would take 12.307 years to smoke ten pounds. Seems legit. My memory ain't so good. Just recently lost my ski waxing iron. Totally ridiculous because it's not like a set of keys that could be in any random place. It's a freaking iron that stays put in the garage. I went through all this trouble to build this awesome ski tuning bench and I have no iron. Go figure: Had to be stolen. No other explanation. I even looked in the freezer for it. And now I know you'll remember this three years from now. Creeps me out. *shivers*
