  1. This got an actual laugh out loud:

"Later in the evening, a group of tele skiers from Vermont's Mad River Glen made a formal motion that anything over six inches, even if falling on bare rock, should be considered tits deep. Almost immediately the room filled with laughter"

  2. The one per visit is standard boilerplate sweet deals language. Don't be put off by it. Even if they held to it, it only applies to the voucher redemption, once the voucher is exchanged for a gift card it's a standard plastic gift card that they allow more than one of per transaction. They would have no way of knowing the gift card was from this deal.

Same with the expiration. That applies to redeeming the vouchers for the gift cards. You have 6 months to do that, once they are gift cards there is no expiration.

I personally redeemed 6 of these vouchers all at the same time for 3 $100 gift cards, although I am prepared to have to make multiple visits to exchange them if someone wanted to enforce the "1 per" language. I then used those 3 $100 gift cards the next weekend in one transaction for my season pass.

I understand if people are skeptical, no worries. But for those with a little faith, you can save some major coin. And if not, less competition to snag them. :)

  3. Nice. Too bad it is timed for right when passes go up.

I'm just glad they brought it back again so soon. If they keep this pace up I'll be able to accumulate enough to get a half price pass for season after next!

EDIT: This isn't really normal pacing, is what I mean. Usually it's 2-3 months between, this is less than a month.

  4. Sounds well worth the $25 even if the vert was so short. Glad you got out and got it.

It was definitely worth it. Almost didn't go, but the short price tag pushed me in. Glad I went. Really enjoyed it and got some more experience on something semi-steep and doing it in progressively cruddier conditions.

Also, they are having a buy 1, get one for $1 sale in the shop. Ended up with a new jacket for myself and one for Pops (same damn one, we're gonna look even more like frickin' twins out there now) , and a couple balaclava as well.

They were also doing an Easter weekend promo where you choose an egg and open it for a prize, most people were getting keychain or magnet but I lucked out and got a hoodie. Only tiny sizes left though so I gave it to my niece.

  5. Mad peeps to go with your sweet n low?

Lol, I think this means was it crowded, if so it started out not bad at all, by the time I left around 1245 it had picked up but still not bad considering only 4 real runs open. Nice corn snow was starting to get real soft and pushed around, but the low crowds kept it from getting bad. There was significant traffic in both the Big Boulder and Love parks, with skiers and riders alike actually making use of the features and big jumps.

I took 20 laps, pretty evenly split between Bunny's Elbow/Schuss and Draufganger, save one run each down the parks (skirting the features) that I took early on before the crowd actually using them rolled in. There was a decided lack of real inexperienced skiers out, there were only a handful or so of people that were struggling to even make turns, so it made for a real nice day.

  6. Shoot, they say they're still building new features.

If the morning report still shows the 3 trails I think I'm gonna run up there. Worth a $25 ticket to give them a go. I enjoyed my last day at Blue, but my last run was less than satisfactory. Wouldn't mind replacing its memory with a new last run of the season, lol

Man, I thought Bear Creek was small. Great snow conditions, but I'm 7 runs in sand just cracked 2100 vert.

Beggars, choosers and all that, tho.

  7. Big Boulder park is a decent run when there's no features on it...

  8. They are only opening to keep the hotel guests from cancelling.

Wow, what a dirty move! They announce they are closed with literally only an hour's time for Saturday check-in guests to cancel without increased penalty, and after Thursday or Friday check-in guests can do so. Not cool.

  9. Why did you call them out? They actually have a budget to watch unlike blue. Blowing snow by blue was unecassary and didn't help the coverage 100% PR move.

Because before that front moved out they were going to have 4 nights to do it, and the last 2 were low 20s with 30% humidity or less. They could have made enough to ensure this coming weekend, maybe even the one after.

Now as it turns out the forecast changed and yeah, that's not possible. But they made it sound like it was a dumb idea, using hindsight to negate what was a valid point at the time.

EDIT: My original comment was Friday afternoon, they responded a couple hours ago

  10. Fun day as always. Good to meet Empanada. This was kind of the year that just wasnt meant to be as far as skiing in the NE, but i think most days we had were pretty darn good.

looking forward to some upcoming Utah TR's to keep things going here.

Good to meet everyone, and hang out after. Looks like my season is done unless Camel pulls off next weekend, and even then it's only 50/50. Time to start looking at new skis!

  11. if they pull it off, this puts CB in the top 20 PA resorts. Just remember, they claimed an early season Monday opening and then bitched out for a huge fail.

They also closed earlier than they said they were going to two years running, so this weekend will probably be it for them no matter what they say. Maybe if they blow snow thru Tuesday . . .

  12. Yeah and warm as fuck today.

Just looked at the can homestretch isn't that bad still no walking requires. Enjorales I know you are pretty new to skiing but some areas will have signs on thin cover trails that say some walking required. I've seen it at sugarbush and killington.

Yeah, I've heard of that. I wouldn't think you'd want to do that on the slope that feeds 50% of your mountain to 80% of your lift capacity though

  13. To be fair I was consuming bandwidth that could have been used for photos of Swift, feuds with ski instructors, or lists of buffets and fast food places.

In other words, things people would rather talk about more than Shawnee!

Just kidding. Actually had planned on hitting a day up there this year but got bit by the short season. I'm sure I'll check them out next year.
