  1. Its not that short compared to some mountains. Its just the lack of an express lift that makes non-park skiing there a little frusterating.

    Elk is not Bankrupt

Haha, crazy Elk phone practical jokers.
  3. I was happily looking at that too when I got home from school. We're also right in the middle of the forcasted storm number one! I'm pumped for some real snow!
  4. Are there special reduced rates right now? It seems like there should be for the small amount of terrain that is open. I seriously am thinking of going, but I don't want to pay full price, haha. Skiing is skiing, right?
  5. Exactly... The topic wasn't "is MC better than BC and would you ride there on weekends". Haha.

    Elk is not Bankrupt

Maybe its was a December fools joke. It is the 1st of December you know. I was feeling pretty bad that Elk was on the verge, but now I don't know what to think. Hope they're doing well, haha.

    Opening?

Sorry guys, humidity always rises when it gets cold, unless something really bizarre is going on. VTMark was right. Lets take today for instance. This morning, 6am Humidity - 77% Temp 36. By 1 PM the Temp was 41 and the humidity 61%. At 9 PM the humidity will be 84% with the temp 32. It doesn't seem this way because you can't feel the humidity as much when the temperature drops. I believe it happens because the warm temperatures sort of pull the humidity up, but thats just a guess. It makes snowmaking harder than it would appear, because the humidity can be rising as fast as the temperature is falling. Edit: Oh yeah, and they're going to need lower temperatures than that chart for the type of guns they're running, I believe. I'm sure they'll be making snow whenever they can (which will be really soon!) Accuweather calls for below freezing temperatures for approx. 180 straight hours starting friday!

    Opening?

That is plenty of snow to cover the trail, they just aren't going to want to have a 1 foot base when they could have 2. Plus its not the busiest time of year, not even close. It looks pretty good to me, especially after what our snow did during the cold spell .

    Snow at CB

Ah yes, the foriegn invasions. I must say I do sorta miss them when they're gone. They're so entertaining, and the trails seems so empty without people to fly past. Keeps your mind focused with something to do. CB could definently open with the snow they've got, but oh well, thats the way it goes. Hopefully the opening will be awesome with lots of trails next week. I imagine the terrain park would have sucked, considering they would have had no time to properly create it. All of our snow melted at our little rail park, so I'm looking forward to the cold again! Its going to be an awesome season.

    Snow at CB

Definently. Its going to be plenty cold on the second and third, as of now.
  11. Thank the lord, Hallelujah! Hopefully CB will follow suit. The season is coming so early this year. AMaaazZing!
  12. Here's a direct link to the gallery that has all the pictures: Gallery Page. I wish I could post the pictures of the entire hill right now, but unfortuantely they're on my sister's camera. I tried to wake her up to ask her where it was and she told me that it was on the dresser (which it wasn't), the "Gondola chair" (which it definetly wasn't because we don't have a gondola ), and the "Chair next to the snowmaker" (which doesn't exist so it wasn't there either), so in conclusion I can't find those pictures for now. Basically right now we have a big hill with a small jump on the left, in the middle the big box, and on the right a handrail. I'm hoping to bring down my smaller box, and my smaller rail just for some variety. I also have seen a huge flatdown rail we will probably put in soon, but it looks pretty beastly. The c-rainbow is at Anthony's house, so if we can figure a way to get it over, we might set that up too. I skiied it today and it was awesome. Hopefully it survives the warm spell.
  13. Hey everybody! I just got back from Switzerland (sick skiing by the way, just wanted to rub it in) and the our crew has been working on snowmaking and the park. We don't quite have the same amount of snowmaking equipment as Camelback, but it's coming along pretty well. We've got some pretty cool stuff this year, and our cheif photographer/skiing Will should be along shortly to post pictures. Hope you guys enjoy!
  14. I ride on the weekends at my home mountains. They aren't that crowded and I don't consider myself an idiot for skiing as oppose to staying home... Staying on topic: I like Bear's park and don't even know what I would change.
  15. This is why I love this board so much. If this topic was posted on almost any other board in the world, it would have turned into a flame war instantly. Everyone gets along here is a sensible normal human being. I can't even go on newschoolers because of how utterly stupid everyone is. Ah the beauty of paskiandride.com
  16. Wow, nice post... Seriously though, as long as you're out on the mountain, it's cool.
  17. I've ridden out west a couple times and for me the most amazing things the first time I went was, of course, the snow quality, but also the way the trees are spaced out and the bowls. Haha, once you get back from your trip you'll feel like you're completely out of control on the ice back here. Wide open bowls are so free and amazing, its a completely different feel. Hope you enjoy yourself out there.
  18. I would bet, with the new management, Camelback will open 12/3. They'll be able to if they feel like it from what I can tell. If I remember right they only blew for three days last year before opening, because it was so late in the season. The opening sucked, but this year they've got about over 2 weeks to do it. I hope Blue opens soon too.
  19. Oh man the camera looks so cool right now. You can see the oscillating fan guns at the base totally pumping out so much snow and other tower guns shooting snow everywhere. Man I'm pumped. I would bet that they are probably going to get good base on the trails they are blowing on right now, then expand out to other trails. It looks like they'll have plenty of time! Plus the park looks like its opening for sure from the very beginning. Woohoo!
  20. That's awesome, I just watched a snow maker guy check the snow guns. Happy Day! I'm up here in Syracuse, NY today and its suppose to snow 4-8 inches overnight. I can't ski in it though, but who cares. Snow for everyone! Haha.
  21. Ah today has been full of the joys of snowmaking news. So early in the season too. I'm so happy, haha.
  22. That's quite a collection you've got going. I find the amount of compressors and water supply you have to be even more impressive. Wasn't it just last year that you were talking about not being able to blow anymore after blowing air back into your house lines and killing your water heated or something? Seems like everythings going good now though! We too are looking forward to starting up our snowgun tomorrow. We blew a small amount last friday as a test, but we all had to much to do to stay up super late and blow a pile. With lows of 22 we are gonna pump it out though! I'm unfortuantely going to be up in Rochester and Syracuse checking out colleges, but its alright cause I'll being hitting the cities street unicycle style . I'm going to Switzerland right after that so I'm out for a while (in a very good way), but when I get back my friends better have like 5 feet of base or I'm gonna be pissed haha. Pictures of our stuff is at www.bradsplace.org. The link is in my sig. Enjoy the cold temps everyone. Hopefully The Public Enemy can post a pic or something later of our mini-snow park.
  23. Definenlty! The long term forcast according to accuweather currently has every single low below 28 degrees for the next 15 days. A lot of the days are around 25 or 22 degrees. Of course it will probably change a bit as time goes on, but for now its sweeeeeeet.
  24. Straight from the Camelback site. "Snowmaking Operations Set to Begin Thursday, November 17th! TANNERSVILLE, PA?As colder temperatures take hold in the Pocono Mountains, Camelback Ski Area today announced that snowmaking for the 2005-2006 season will begin the night of Thursday, November 17, 2005. Click here for entire release." They say in it that they don't plan on opening until early December, which sounds like a long time if they start tomorrow... I remember in years past them blowing snow for 4 days then opening, even though openings were pretty poor. Maybe this at least means they'll have a lot of trails on opening day! I hope so! Maybe they'll open December 3rd...
  25. Unless the new Camelback management goes crazy, and from what I can tell on their site, thats not their plan, Shawnee will open first with a couple crappy runs like always. Not that that's bad. Skiing is skiing right? So my educated guess is: Shawnee 25/26.
