  1. I'm sure it will be fun, and whoever is making these decisions probly thinks they're makin Blue better for the customer. But to be honest I think the average park rider would rather have a well groomed/maintained park with lots of standard stock boxes and rails of varying sizes to learn and progress on. I'd just say that airbags and foampits are for summer. For winter they should focus on making a skatepark in the snow.
  2. Damn dudes, I don't know either of you but it's a ski message board, it just ain't that serious. So if any of you have access to people who manage Blue's park, it'd be cool to know if they intend to put the new equipment to use or if it was bought solely for the steeper sections with no thought for the park's improvement.
  3. At the end of last year they announced that they got a winch cat, or groomer or whatever its called. Now I know next to nothing about grooming, but does that mean they'll be able to make jumps with long steep landings like you'd find at major resorts/big boulder?
  4. interesting. so we're talking about the lot that is slightly raised from the rest of the upper lot? as you pull in up that long driveway it's to your right as you reach the lot? now i've had some run-ins with blue security and found them to be less than cordial, but i'd bet that a 3rd shifter would be unlikely to inspect the cars in that lot too.
  5. Thanks for all the input. I guess another option would be to email Blue and ask, but I doubt they'd be willing to give written permission due to legal issue phobia. It's still doubtful that I'll do it, but I may have to make an attempt just to see if skibummin soul is alive in the pokes. Somebody else mentioned the walmart policy to me. But I'll bet they don't allow any joe schmo to sleep in his back seat. Anybody work for Nestor's? Think they'd support some local bummin?
  6. Solid suggestion. My concern would be that the police would take issue with me sleeping right along the road like that. AND I'm pretty scared of the locals up there...just too close to every horror movie ever.
  7. It is highly likely that I will never do this, but it is summer and there isn't much to talk about on here. Lots of times after a day of riding and facing a long drive back to Philly, followed by another roundtrip to Blue the next day I have pondered the possibility of sleeping in the lot. Now obviously it would be cold, but with the proper gear it wouldn't be a problem. My question is whether or not you think Blue has nighttime patrols that would kick you out of the lot. Mountains out west tend to tolerate some car camping, but Blue is a different animal. Let me know if you have any experiences or even just theories. Thanks.
  8. Comparing these pics to the video from their site, it looks like the setup is falling apart a bit. Is that the case or was it just a busy day with some wear and tear? Them bare woodchips have to suck to fall on.
  9. My buddy threw together an edit of our riding crew's season. Its got Blue, Boulder, VT, and w coast spots. If you rode Blue on the weekends you probly saw us tapping small things, doing wierd non-tricks and tumbling around the hill. Peace dudes. http://www.newschoolers.com/web/content/viewvideo/id/276223/
  10. Anybody have any details on what we're looking at for the park this weekend? I hope they'll try to put together one final solid weekend. I also have to add that the Valley School trail is the PERFECT spot for a post-March 22 rail garden. It could be operated without any other amenities being open and its the perfect width, pitch, and length for a few rows of low flat rails. Come on Blue, a few more dollars in your pocket and some very happy customers!
  11. Blue sells multi-ticket packs? I didnt know that.
  12. Flipping the up-flats around to down-flats and the addition of the down box have stepped Blue's park up HUGE. I have hopes for the tractor tire, although I haven't ridden it, hopefully they can get the lip issues figured out. All those additions make for a real nice lap thru the park. hopefully the trend continues and stock rails become the norm. I'm puttin in my request for next year early. There have been these large diameter pipes poppin up in edits from all sorts of mountains. It's just a metal pipe thats probably a few feet around. Real stock, just set up flat or down. Let's get on that Blue, it's relatively cheap and easy.
  13. When's this thing on Saturday starting? is the park gonna be closed while it's running?
  14. Is it that little stairset they had last year or just stairs with no rails? Oh and are they still gonna put in the junkyard section? I love my minishred.
  15. Setup: First: Up flat box and Up flat rail 2nd: Huge doghouse\picnic table box with about a 7ft gap to it. I think the FDF is next to that. 3rd: rollercoaster box (set up with a wierd kicker that sends you into the up part, and a battleship box. Then a rugged hip into 3 step down tables which get progressively bigger. Bus is set up with about a 5 foot gap and a kicker that sends you up so you kinda fall down onto the box. Wallride, second rollercoaster box, then a step down, no lip kinda jump. I'm not sure what that's called and that's it as far as I remember. My review: eh
  16. Just got back from Blue. The jump line is finished and park crew was testing it out. They're definitely step downs and from what I could see from the lift they are in size order. The 3rd is pretty damn big with a long flat deck and a pretty long landing. Nothing else was set up except for the wide roller coaster box which is right after the left hand turn after the 3rd jump. That seems like a strange placement since people will gather to hit that box right in the run out for a pretty damn big jump. But hey, what's Blue without some treacherous shit? Their reluctance to build stepovers confuses me, but the jumps are photo quality as far as nice square lips and all. Saturday should be a good day.
  17. G.R.H say it aint so. Please.
  18. SIDEWINDER PARK WILL BE CLOSED FOR SNOWMAKING AND REBUILDING THIS WEEK AND WILL REOPEN FOR THE WEEKEND WITH SOME GREAT NEW FEATURES. I bet that means that a Thursday park opening isn't happening anymore. I was gettin outta work early and everything, couldnt wait to ride the new stuff with no crowds. too bad.
  19. telephone pole sounds like splinter city. I'm pumped for the mini shred, cant wait.
  20. How definite is that? The weather is sure cooperating. And GRH, any details on the junkardy section you speak of? Can't wait to see Sidewinder in all its glory.
  21. "Another new feature is a picnic table..kinda. Its veryyyyy long with a lower section on each side. The only weird thing is that there is a slanted layer connecting all of the flat parts so there are no gaps. Hard to explain but it doesn`t look too bad and its not circus-ish." sounds really fun, have ya's decided on where it'll be on the hill? And is it wood or box material? I'm happy to hear u guys have cool plans for the jump line, but the one before the wallride being "huge" might cause problems just cuz it lands into a sorta bottleneck spot where people stop either for the wallride or just to gape it up. Will there be some stock flat bars brought over to sidewinder too? the one next to the jump in come around is set up nice with pop and a downhill landing.
  22. Let's stop all the hatin dudes and focus on the task at hand: The 3 jump line needs to be stepovers. Not all jumps need to be, but those are small-mid size jumps in a compact space and stepovers allow for optimal airtime and length of landing in a small space. The BIG jump is in a pretty awful spot, but if we're really committed to having one there then we've gotta find another place for that hip (which is fun for hand drags and butter/stalls) because too many people are stopping right below that landing and making a very unsafe zone there. The minipark is a 100% improvement over previous years so I'd say just keep up the good work and maintenance. I'd also love to see a small-jib corner right where that trapezoidal cone box used to be (in the bend before the big jump). It's out of the way and just a perfect spot to go hike and have fun on some little stuff. All in all I'd say Park Crew is setting up some nice stock stuff and getting creative with what they have. Keep it up dudes. I can't wait to see the new setup this weekend.
