The only real disadvantage you have to the quads closing is that you cant get to Nile Mile,Cliffhanger, and Pharaoh without doing some type of hiking. Otherwise the slow lifts get the job done (as long as its a weekday because we all know what weekends bring).

The winds recently have been blowing a good amount of snow off some of the trails, which has been exposing the hardpack in some areas and a bit of ice here and there but mainly on traversing areas. I've been up there this past weekend, monday, and weds. The best day there by far was monday because the winds were minimal. Of course, watching people pizza wedge it down the faces of the diamonds doesn't help the cause either.

I was there today, conditions were pretty good. Only encountered two trails that were icy, hump and rocket. Cliffhanger was actually a pretty good ride also.

I'll likely be there. Isn't this system coming through tonight/tomorrow supposed to bring rain up there as well though?

I agree, I think it is a huge stretch that they are able to open by Saturday.

Ideally, you need both an air compressor and a pressure washer I believe. I could be wrong though.

well theres snow here now and more on the way this week for christmas...i guess i washed my truck enough times in the past 2 months, though it has about 5 pounds of salt on it right now

It's risky doing a trip out to heavenly for christmas. There has yet to be a substantial snowstorm out here yet. I am temporarily living out here at the moment. Forecast does show snow coming in for this weekend and the dry weather pattern may finally be coming to a halt, but as of right now the only snow at heavenly is the fake stuff. Hopefully that changes soon. In Stateline and the general lake tahoe area there is other stuff you could do to occupy your time (casinos, bars, sightseeing, etc), worst come to worst. theprogram, where are you staying during christmas break, I don't really know anyone out here and need people to ski with haha, provided we get some snow.

Someone needs to give me a tour of the mountain, haha. I've probably been in or around half the tree areas mentioned, I just don't realize it/remember what they are called.

Well, that doesn't hurt my feelings since I sprained my ankle bad and am pretty much done for the rest of the season anyway. At least I used my season pass alot.

Hey all, Is anyone planning on going to JF this saturday? I'll most likely be there on my own so I was seeing if anyone else was going so I wouldn't have to ski there solo all day.

In some spots. The right side of challenge near the top was ok...especially after that snow squall came in that caused whiteout conditions in the afternoon. Do NOT stay in the trees near the bottom....its a bad idea, rocks popping out everywhere still. Today was a great day, especially in the morning. The afternoon was good too, so long as you could stand the wind and the snow. The afternoon snow put another inch or two on the ground as well.

i knew i should have gone this morning....oh well
