  1. Hey now Kyle, I'm there regularly haha. I will be pushing snow thursday night. Word on the street is small set up on black bear to start the season. Will try and post an update friday on what is set up if nobody beats me to it. Much like last year feel free to post suggestions or criticism in here and I will do my best to relay to the rest of the crew.
  2. Well I'm hoping it's a little earlier than that Doug. Pre-Christmas would be nice but I never bet on that early.
  3. Bumping for guesses as to opening date. I have no inside info or even any type of educated guess. Just gonna throw it out there that it will probably be after the new year. Hoping it's earlier, but I don't know, feels like one of those lame warm winter years coming our way. Hope my gut is wrong.
  4. Kinda curious to see what the tubing hill looks like this year and if this settlement leads to any changes in the name of safety.
  5. Battleshits is so much more intense with solid eye contact and facial expressions. Your parents were hardcore to the max.
  6. Did I hear something about a bourbon and bbq fest going on up there?? I might actually drive up for that kinda party.
  7. Your slander against the crew is not amusing Doug. We worked hard to kick butt last year and I think most of the customers would agree that we did a good job. That said, I do wish we could still use that yurt, if nothing else it is a much better strategic location to work out of. Funny part was even though we moved where crew worked out of we still ended up having to utilize the yurt several times last year as stuff was still stored in there for use on the mountain. Minor bump in the road, we still did our job, and many thought and told us we did it much better than in many years past. I'd say it was due to a very dedicated and passionate group, creative freedom allowed by the mountain, and a new cat operator in the park that really kicked butt and enjoyed what he was doing. They should make the tube hill twice as steep and double the runout ha.
  8. Can't wait to see what the tubing hill looks like next year. Maybe we will get more room for the parks haha.
  9. Yea, that's what is considered a "good" night to go tubing. Oh sorry, you wanted to go slow as hell down the tubing hill? I didn't know sliding down ice on a plastic tube was supposed to be boring.
  10. Sounds fun but I'm thinking no. I'm swinging full on into spring. I've had enough with the winter and I'm diving headfirst into the garage for warm weather gear. Breaking out and organizing all the kayaking and fishing gear and maybe even taking apart the motorcycle to try and bring that baby back to life.
  11. haha yea we always do some kind of boxzilla or put a bunch of rails together. The cascade BMX jumps were awesome when I rode em Saturday. I came up super short on one and pulled the ole double ejects to face plants, skis stayed right where they landed, it was classic. Sadly I missed closing day and employee day Monday due to having a wife and stepkids and a real job during the week. Ah well, another season in the books.
  12. Huh, news to me. I did miss closing day last year though, and after 5 years there it all kind of blends together.
  13. Years past have almost always been mid march, like the 15th. Official word right now is "we haven't yet set a closing date" as far as I know. Last year they closed before the races, so take that for what it's worth I guess. Nothing solid has been mentioned to us yet that's for sure. And yea thursday was frickin awesome, I worked that night and we got in a little pow riding. Had to take the K2 maidens for full floaty potential. I'd say they ended up with 10 or 11 inches when it was all said and done. I hope you're right doug, I'm not done with winter yet.
  14. surprisingly with all the snow we had last year that's probably the one spot of woods on that mountain that I didn't shred. I'm working thursday night so I think I'm taking the wide skis.
  15. That's just crazy. Sounds like it has no touring ability whatsoever but just used tele bindings due to the width restriction and the direction of the bindings. Probably makes for some mean speed and carving runs though. I bet if carver dude saw that thing he was drooling buckets. There's a guy at BC, some us just just call him "carver dude", that rides all the time with a full face helmet and I'm not sure if it's an alpine board or just a real aggressive binding stance, but he just rides fast as hell and throws wicked carves all day long. Hey to each their own I guess. As long as your having fun. I mean I'm out there shoveling jumps for basically minimum wage and that's pretty much all I'm doing it for.........FUN.
  16. I don't get it. Is it a split board or something? isn't the point of tele so you can tour and go uphill and stuff? I'm so confused how this would even work. I'm pretty sure cascade got some new features just this past week, not a full rebuild but a little change up I believe.
  17. If it hasn't happened already, I heard word of new builds early this week. Will know more once I'm up there thursday night.
  18. Oh yea, I heard something about races going on up there. I think my ski club is participating one day as well. I really wanna see this boardercross stuff the groomers put in.
  19. We always struggle with what to put on that crossover. I'll see what the guys think about some kind of long rail feature in there. Not sure anything is going to be switched up any time soon. Probably not for at least a week or so I'd say, most of the park is fairly new stuff from about a week ago at most. I will definitely let you know if I hear anything thursday or this weekend. Probably get one more build in before we start dreaming up crazy stuff for closing day park madness. I'd imagine we still plan to close mid march like usual. We will see what the temps do in the next month or so and I'm not sure if or what's going on with the snowmobile races this year. I'll try to get some info on that stuff.
  20. Oh I will, it's a frickin awesome jacket. It's got a frickin recco reflector in it haha. Ya know, for the dangerous backside of BC.
  21. I agree, I still have my park crew BC Ironworks branded jacket, that is easily the warmest jacket I've ever owned(and has the most pockets). It's some kind of oakley, killer deal on it buying through the mountain as a uniform. Had to buy a new one this year and it's a lame north face shell that doesn't even have any kind of name or logo on it. Whatever, I do what I'm told.
  22. Amen to that, I put in a pellet stove and I've been going through so many bags it's getting close to what my oil bill was. I second that we need a major storm too. Sick of this dusting here and there crap. Still better than rain.
  23. Easy with that BC Ironworks stuff Doug, that name no longer goes with our parks. Don't ask me, I don't know enough nor do I wanna get into it. Great to see everyone enjoying the parks so much, we really have been trying to kick butt this year and it has been paying off. We've heard nothing but good things on the hill and over the internets. Thanks guys.
  24. Little coverage from saturdays jam.
