  1. Snow is crazy this year at J-Hole from what I hear. Avi on Monday morning...buried part of the restaurant up top...
  2. I am forgoing much partying tonight to make it to the Summit Lodge by 8am tomorrow. Anyone joining me?
  3. Apparantly you missed my sarcasm
  4. Thats some killer slope there hehe Whats the pitch on Razors?
  5. Agreed, it seems like a waste Its December after all. Just be glad its skiable. I found some excellent snow on Lazy Mile. Main Street was excellent on Saturday but not so much on Sunday. I wouldnt say conditions were bad at all.
  6. Saturday morning... I recall a very blue jacket... glasses and helmet... looked like K2 skis though? My wife was also wearing a very bright blue jacket and white helmet - I had a green and grey jacket and grey helmet...
  7. I think I may have caught a ride on the 6-pack with AtomicSkier and crew....I think it was around 9am? Not sure...
  8. I thought the "Club Room" at the summit lodge was supposed to become the passholder lounge. Right now its just full of random equipment. I wonder if they are planning on following through with their promise of a passholder line at the 6-pack. Right now they have their usual set of signs up for doubles, triples, etc and ski school...nothing for pass holders. Obviously its not crowded yet but it makes me wonder if they will even do it...
  9. I suspect more of the numbskullery witnessed at Crystal was setup (the toga guy, etc) than was at Blue. There are so many complete assmonkeys at Blue they probably didnt need to stage much
  10. That kid was awesome I was dying the whole time. I saved every episode on my DVR - it was so weird and cheesy I had to
  11. I should have been paying attention but wasnt I was facing the lift and partially up mainstreet when I heard "scrap scrape whoosh whoosh" I was kicking myself for not getting one of the first runs down lazy. I was doubly kicking myself for standing there and stupidly thinking it was a safe place for now
  12. Got there around 7:55 and was booted up and moving by 8:10... Was starting to get annoyed by all the needle-threading on main street. Was hanging out down by the lift near the exit of lazy (I thought that was a safe place to make a phone call) when a Chinese Downhill appears and whooshes past me. I guess I picked the exact wrong time to be standing at that very spot right when they opened Lazy. I had only planned to stay the morning, but I decided to hang out on Lazy in all its death-cookied glory. The crowds finally pissed me off around 2 and left around then.
  13. Hah I got my 0.25 seconds of fame. Saw myself and my wife (who's face was covered by the "TV-PG" thingy) standing at the cardboard classic sidelines as the camera panned by.
  14. What are you studying? (I graduated in 2002, B.S. in Computer Science)
  15. I was there Sunday for the last filming. They did some shots of the cardboard classic - and then had all the ski patrol gather at the top of Switchback for a final group run for the cameras...
  16. Forgot to add: Saw a Penn-Star med-evac land at the helipad around 1:00ish. Anyone that was there know what happened?
  17. Decided to take a day off work since the season is nearly over... Rocked up to the summit lodge at 8:45 (34F) and got moving - snow was all frozen chunky granular on Burma, Lazy Mile, Main Street, Midway and Razors Edge. Paradise had some better grooming and was relativly nice. Got hungry around 11:30 and grabbed some of that awesome chili. Seemed like it was a mistake because as soon as I got back out there the snow had turned to complete mush on the whole mountain. Got quite gluey after a while and my skis didnt want to even move in a straight line on Home Stretch. I found some decent snow on Challange and Raceway but that was about it. By 2:30 things were unskiable with the skis I had on. Not sure if different equipment would have helped, but maybe...I headed out and my Jeep's thermometer was reading 50F...eek All in all it was a bunch of fun and was worth burning a vacation day.
  18. $10??? For everyone or only is you agree to be a gaper for the day?
  19. Cool, OK you guys convinced me Ill be at the summit lodge before 8 Say hi if you see a guy in a grey/green spyder jacket, black pants and yellow K2 4Coms Or you might see my wife with a baby-blue spyder jacket, black pants and K2 One-Luvs...
  20. After all this rain today, is going tomorrow morning going to be worth it? Also thinking of going up monday to burn my free weekday ticket....
  21. If you see a guy in a blue-greenish REI jacket, black pants on yellow K2 4Coms, thats probably me

I noticed that myself this weekend - the snow at Elk was pretty nice and I wasnt as fearful of hurting myself if I wiped out - so I allowed myself more speed than I usually take. I found I had more control going faster than I did trying to keep my speed down. My skis held their edges much better that way. I also was a whole lot less sore after two full days of skiing this past weekend than any single day I have done at Blue so far. I must be learning to relax. Cant wait to get back out to Blue this Saturday to practice some more...

Just wanted to say Hi - obviously I am new here. Started skiing last winter (Dont know what took me all these years to discover this wonderful activity). I spend most of my ski time at Blue as its the closest to where I live. I feel like I have learned pretty quickly - blue trails dont cause me much grief and my friends say I even have decent form on them too. I can do Main Street without much trouble - but I can feel my form getting sloppy as I get faster. I spent this past weekend at Elk and I feel like I have improved even more. And the few attempts I did at their Black Diamond runs felt pretty good even though I know I was far from perfect.
