  1. JF / BB is right behind with them. I read somewhere that JF is under new management. Either way, they wasted a lot of great nights to make snow. Maybe JF and BC are in a contest to see who could open last!!
  2. To clarify, I know I sound like a whiney bitch, but is anybody else pissed that some of the resorts are not making snow yet?
  3. I know I'm starting to sound like a whiney bitch , but I still can't believe JF/BB is not making snow. Almost 7 days will be wasted, until they turn on the guns ....and some of those are probably gonna be 24 hour days. Anybody else feel the same way???
  4. I occassionally go to CB and like it, but I've alway felt that the snow quality is better at JF, because of the higher elevation and it is sheltered more from the sun.
  5. I just saw JF / BB website said that they are starting to blow on Friday. Why wait so long? More wasted days. BB is set to open Dec. 17th and JF Dec. 10th. Like I said in a previous post, they don't care because this is no earlier than last year.
  6. I can't beieve that some of the resorts did not make snow last week. I don't buy into the story that they wanted to wait until after Monday's rain, because the rain wasn't even in the forecast for much of last week. That's just like saying, well it might rain in December, so we'll wait until January. It just shows, that around here, the resorts aren't truly into it. I'm especially upset at JF / BB because I spent all that money on a season pass and even paid extra for the parking pass, which the more I think of it, the more it angers me. It doesn't matter how quickly it gets cold, they always wait to open in December. Last year it was warm, up to two weeks into December and most place opened around the 18th. This year it got cold enough, the 2nd/ 3rd week into November, and resorts are still waiting and saying that they are opening "early" around the 8th / 9th. That's 2 to 3 weeks waisted that could be used for sking/ riding, since the extended forecasts show below freezing temps, nightly. To me, it seems that they will be opening "late", again.
  7. Anybody know if Jf or BB is making snow???
  8. They can open snowtubing...as long as they have them go down one of the ski trails. Could you imagine sending them down Margie's? I'd think the conditions for tubing aren't going to be the best. Once it goes above freezing, it makes it slow for the tubes.
  9. I picked my pass up at JF on Tuesday and asked if they had any plans to make snow this week and one person said not that they are aware of. Another said that they will make it once it gets cold. At this point, I don't think anybody know for sure.
  10. I think we'll see snow made, it just won't get pushed around yet. Too warm during the days to maintain the trails
  11. Starting Wed 16th, accuweather has 10 nights where temps are supposed to be below freezing, for the Lake Harmony area. Could we be skiing by Thanksgiving???
  12. While on the topic of waxing and tuning, I was told that I don't need to do anything with my skis, since they are new. I was told that they come already tuned and ready to go. Does this sound correct?
  13. Thanks for the replys. One question remains. Does it matter if you lay them flat on the floor, or is it better to stand them up, with the tail touching the floor? I was just wondering if laying them flat could be bad, since they have sort of an arch to them.
  14. I'm new to owning skis, I've always done season rentals. Is there any way, that is better, to store them once I start to use them? I always kept my rentals flat on the floor, after using them. Right now, they are sitting on there sides (bottom to bottom) in my living room, since I haven't used them.
  15. I practically live there last year, and yes they do leave some trails or half (one side) of some trails ungroomed on powder days. They have a couple wide trails that allow them to do this.
  16. Article on PennDot getting ready for winter http://www.danvillenews.net/site/news.cfm?..._id=96584&rfi=6 I hope they are correct in predicting that it could be one of the worst winters and old fashioned
  17. From accuweather.com http://headlines.accuweather.com/news-stor...adc=0&article=3 "The current thinking by Joe Bastardi, the AccuWeather.com long range forecasting expert, is that the dam is going to break during mid- or late November, and a large amount of arctic air will rush southward. This will not only make it much colder, it will set the stage for possible lake effect snow and even a large scale snow event" I hope they are correct.

    Ski pants

I have ski pants I got at Wal-mart ($15). I love them and would not get anything different. They are warm and I would not pay the outrageous prices that some of the brand names want.
  19. Any snow is welcome, but guaranteed that this will be the type that stops you dead in your tracks.
  20. Well, I payed the extra $69. I figured it would keep me from complaining, when parking becomes a problem. Of course, with gas prices, parking might not be an issue.
  21. Anybody hear anything on the status of the give away? I entered, but also already bought my season pass. If I win, which I doubt I will , I hope they refund the one I purchased.
  22. The roads to anywhere can be bad, after it snows. Take your time and you can get anywhere. If you're a die hard, you'll learn to appreciate the bad roads, because it only means that great "conditions" are what you will end up at .
