You mean Switchback at Blue??? I guess Razors is a signiture trail and so is Challenge..
By calling it "The Switchbacks", I meant Upper and Lower Swtichback. I was combining the two. It should only be one trail regardless.

We always hear about the Outer Limits, Goats and Ripcords of the world and even the non steeps like Great Eastern and Toll Road and for good reason. Which PA trails would you consider "signature" trails for Pennsylvania or just in general? I'll throw a few out there.
Blue Mt. - The Switchbacks - Probably an odd choice but decent pitch the whole way down, winding and normally less traffic. There are few other trails in the area like it due to it's length and the way it winds you down before it merging with Lower Main St.
Blue Knob - Upper Stembogen Bowl - Although I've never skied there. How many other bowls are there in PA?
Elk - Tunkhannok - Steep headwall, edge to edge and nicely sized bumps with no escape route. Has an Outer Limits feel to it - definite leg burner.
Sno Mt. - White Lightning - for obvious reasons, one of if not the steepest in the state and huge bumps
That's all I can think of for now. Any more? (I really need to ski)

Any word on whether the glades, elevator will be returning to the trail map for 07-08. I think I read (here possibly) that they were revamping their gladed terrain this offseason. Also does anyone know what else is going to be new at Frost this winter?

If you havent already, make sure you buy it before the end of May, prices go up after that.

Anyway what are everybodies favorite trails..maybe we can turn this into a good thread..
Here are my favorites in Pennsy...
Elk - Iriquois, Mohawk, Slalom, Tuscarora
Shawnee - Arrowhead
JackFrost - T-Bolt Glade, River Shot, Mad Tree
Blue - Challenge, The Switchbacks
Sno - White Lightning, Boomer
Camelback - Cliffhanger, The Asp
Boulder - Draufganger

Tomahawk and Arrowhead aren't open which are the two best trails, aside from that turn on lower delaware, so much fun to slide around when I was up there for middle school ski club every year.
Arrowhead and Tomahawk aren't far off. As I write this, the guns are going all out on lower Tecumseh, Kittatiny, and the Bushkill Park / Pipe.

13 trails for tomorrow folks...Park features on the Country Club trail for the weekend.

when you guys calculate your vertical in the stats manager from Montage, what do you estimate the total vert from the top of the P. Snow quad is to the bottom? I'm guessing 500 feet but before I update it I want to make sure it's accurate.

I believe Elk faces Northeast looking into Wayne Co. I always thought one of the mountains in the nearby distacnce was Mt. Ararat in Wayne Co. I could be wrong though.
-
Shawnee was fabulous last night. It was sweet packed powder plus the guns were firing big time...That plus another 5 inches tomorow should make for top notch conditions. I have a feeling this winter is going to last a while.

Shawnee's making tons of snow.

I just got back. Conditions were absolutely incredible!

what time does the lifts open on friday and what time does it close?
9am to 5pm on Friday
8am to 5pm over the weekend

Oops, sorry, Glen.
I'm still getting over them watching Star Wars Episode Whatever instead of football on Thanksgiving. They cheered when Yoda had some light sabre fight with the extra-bad dude that cut off whathisnames arm.
lol.. That would be Count Dooku who cut off Annikan's arm - Classic

Yeah it's the Buddy Pass price.

The Blue Mountain actually seperates Northampton and Lehigh Counties from Carbon County. The ski area lies just over the Carbon Co. Line which is considered the Poconos - barely.
Has anyone considered a pass to Shawnee Mt. For $249 it's affordable. As for the tower guns on Razor's, Shawnee has them on every trail and the snow quality is considerably better because of it.

ditto on the car as a locker thing. My boots go on when I park. I try not to bring a lot of stuff with me.

Nice shot Atomic. Yes I cannot imagine another PA slope being much steeper if at all steeper than WL.
-
Maybe the 10 inches they got will keep them open longer than the 2nd. Powder days are spectacular at E. - just remember to put on your snow tires.
-
and conditions are awesome with this latest dumping of snow.

PA's signature ski trails
in General Chat

Another PA trail that gets a lot of press is Gunbarrel at Roundtop...supposed to be really steep up top, although short lived. I'll throw a little love to JF. East Mt. in general is a signature PA area due to it's terrain, tree skiing and views but if I had to choose one signature trail, I'd probably go with River Shot, great view of the Lehigh, steep and you can hit the Little Cliff Huck at the bottom. I'd say Risk It but it's barely open. Risk it is pretty scary IMHO.
