  1. So I take it on a "gaper" day we emulate them so as to make them feel at home or all the more to laugh at ourselves and each other?
  2. Great trip, great weather, great pics. Good for you! Next year consider a day at Powder Moutain. Utah's "little" secret. It's about an hour north of the PC area. They have lift served, cat served and shuttle bus terrain. You can see off one side of the mountain down to the access road and a shuttle bus will pick you up and bring you back to the lift served area.
  3. Welcome to Camelback, the half mountain.
  4. If you have a night/weekday pass you're good all day saturday's after March 1st. It's in the begining of the season pass contract, but not promoted by CB. The date may change a little but its been that way every year since the begining of that pass!
  5. Just came back from SLC. While I was there the mountians got 15 inches of snow Monday the 19th, 26 inches Friday the 23rd, and 24 inches when I was leaving Tueday the 27th. I heard it is snowing there today as well. All the lightest stuff you can imagine. Make sure you make a nice contribution to PC since they just bought Killington and Pico! If you have transportation check out Powder Mountain, Utah's best kept secret. (North of Snowbasin and Ogden Canyon) Have a great time.
  6. Who is chippy? Who is chippy?
  7. Know any tele equipment for rent or used for sale in the Pocono/NJ Skylands area? What does new tele equipment go for? Looks cool, probably like to give it a try unless I have to buy new equip for lots of dollars.
  8. toast21602 is right. All Rangers and Patrollers should be proficient (ooow, that's an over 50 word) with snowblades and be required to use them every other shift. NO wait, dog sleds, they shoud all use dog sleds. Do they still rent them at Camelback?
  9. I was only allowed to go up double. Were they trying to tell me someting?
  10. Actually the best overall trail is Dromedary, just off of Big Pocono Run. It's out of the way, never crowded and it has a nice feel, but its so short. It was also the last trail at CB to get lights.
  11. The Sullivan didn't open until around 8:30AM because they said they were having trouble. A person I rode the lift with said it was down a while last Thursday. I asked one of the lifties, that are usually always there, and he said they had to limit the weight because they had two systems to balance the lift and one wasn't working. Then he added " The people who can fix it are on vacation in the Caribbean". he sounded serious and little disgusted. I thought about it later and think he must have been kidding. No business would allow that to happen...
  12. Before the Canyons it was Wolf Mountain. (Park City West before that) and they had a center pole lift with no footrest/bar like the Millicent lift at Brighton. However, this was half again as long as the Millie lift and went up the side of a ridge with a big drop in places. The wind would frequently rip over the ridge and the lift would break down a lot. Talk about scary! ASC put in a new lift but it follows the same line.

    Turkeys?

I think that's the funniest thread I've seen to date. No comments for the hump?
  14. I used to ski at Mountain Creek, and now I love CB!

    Dear Camelback

I've not always been happy with CB but in all fairness I think it needs to be pointed out that one of the first replys to the same "Dear Camelback" post on the CB board was from an administrator asking for more details in a pm; presumably to take corrective action and possibly make amends. Two free passes, accepted or not, is the right thing to do. I tried skiing at MC for a season and it was the most horrible thing I've ever experienced. So bad I now accpreciate CB somewhat. It is very clear that, in the case of MC, owner Intrawest is a real estate management/development/sales company, not a ski mountaitn operator. Not goign into details, I've had two difficult problems with CB over the last couple of years and they resoplved both issues fairly and in a resoable amount of time. My complaints to MC were literally laughed at and I was told another time in so many words if I didint like it, go elsewhere. I realize it's hard to verify a child's age, but why does CB penalize tall parents and favor short parents?
  16. Remember in the Pocono's we don't pray for snow.....we pray for COLD!

    CB R.I.P

Pico Peak (Killington) has an alpine slide. I don't think it's as long as CB's was.
  18. Good school, great location. The Weber U campus is right behind Snow Basin Ski area. The Mayor of Ogden proposed a lift from the Weber U campus to the top of Snow Basin. I believe the city council shot it down. Would have been a great deal for Ogden but I guess not all Utahns are into skiing/riding. You still should consider going there, you just have to drive around through the pass to get to Snow Basin or Powder Mountain, another great ski area near Ogden.

    pond skimming

One of the funniest was the National Ski Patrol sled run. The lead guy made it through the pond, but the sled just sank in the pond with the other guy in it. Certainly would have been much better if it were a little warmer.
  20. I've skied almost every public ski area in the Pocono's and I skied Montage for the first time today. Over all I was very disappointed. With just one high speed lift, and some good management this could be a great ski area. Its hard to believe that about half the mountain isn't open. I know the pocono's had a rough week last week with the warm temperatures and rain, but I asked some locals and they said the longest lift and the whole side of the moutain it serves hasn't been open this year yet! It was 19 degrees there today and there was no snow making going on! What a shame...
  21. I went to the Warren Miller movie at North Hampton Community College tonight and they said they were making snow at Elk.
