    Elk 1/5/10

wow 1/5/11... gotta get used to the new year... Also, skied between 30-35 runs in a 6 hour period. With the slow lifts you can still do about 6 runs an hour To me theres pluses and minuses to each of the mountains. I like blue because it is close, high speed lifts, and better terrain parks. I like elk because more character to the area, more difficult terrain (tunkhannock is very steep with moguls and there was another ungroomed trail), better skiers overall and they had this sweet college discount.

    Elk 1/5/10

Woke up super early this morning to head up to elk. Got into parking by 8:!5 booted up and got my 20 dollar college lift ticket. Skied from 830-230 straight with taking just one short break. Overall the mountain was great. The grooming was nice and they had two trails that were ungroomed = Tunkhannock had nice big moguls and until about 12 they were nice- snow was swept off later and had many icy spots. Terrain parks were decent, and was nice that they had that rope tow in the one of them. Most of the diamond trails are very similar which can get boring, but the mountain/views are "vermont-like". Snow was nice most of the day- icy on a few spots later in the day. Will definitely go back again, just wish it wasnt an hour and a half from bethlehem. Also, i dont mind that they dont have high speed lifts because it adds to the character of the place.
  6. Ill be heading up to elk tomorrow, anyone ski there regularly?? Have been there once
  7. not sure what they had before but from what i remember from top to bottom butterbox urban rail- flat box up box- flat down jump jump bigger jump flat down box- down box battleship box wall ride along with the one park glade wood features
  8. Got back about an hour ago from frost. Got up there about 8:50 booted up and got on the slopes probably before 9. The first hour i was by myself on the eastside lapping challenge glade which was great tree skiing for PA. Amazing how this is really the only place around that allows it. Snow was really nice considering the melting and refreezing. They do a great job grooming . Exhibition had really nice moguls with very good rhythm, other then the bottom which was very icy. Was nice and fresh at the top of the moguls. Probably got roughly 25 runs in and skied until about 1:30.
  9. will be hitting up jack frost monday 25 dollar lift tickets for college week
  10. btw, where is risk it and elevator?? not on trail map anymore, but remember them from a couple years ago, will be skiing frost next week
  11. Got a few free passes to gore mountain and was wondering if anyone has ever been there?? They have to be used by the end of january and was looking into going in a few weeks before school starts up again. Thoughts?
  12. yeah, very disappointed at the timing of the storm since my trip up to massachusetts will include no skiing at all, but still looking forward to watching the 15-20 inches they are supposed to get up there!! Just wish me the best of luck driving- leaving bethlehem at 7 and should get there by 1, so hopefully I will miss all of the snow on the roads. Blizzard up there
  13. northampton and philly under winter storm watch. heading to massachusetts tomorrow, supposed to get 10 or more inches up there
  14. gonna wait til after new years weekend to go back on the slopes again, dislike crowds and waiting in liftlines

  24. eh, i enjoy the park to a certain degree, but thats not where i spend most my time, just figured some people would want to know the layout- mostly enjoy steep terrain and moguls, blues moguls were very icy today. and jeff is jeff, haha
  25. agreed, im not about to go pay 45 bucks for a lift ticket- should think about doing that, or how bout a college day/night???
