glad you had a good time this past weekend. as for the gunbarrel and ramrod, the headwalls of both are not groomed on a regular basis right yet. we've made alot of snow in the past 2 weeks, much of it was really nice powder. with the headwalls of both those slopes, when its powder, its very difficult to groom them when the snow is so soft. usually they are left go at these times. gunbarrel right now has no base snow, its all powder ontop of grass. we don't have a winch cat here, so the only way to groom that is to go down, and when its all powder, you go for a hell of a ride. i've only groomed it once last year, and i'll never do it again. we had a guy go down it last night and he ended up sliding the cat sideways. its just not safe to groom at this point and time. actually, in the history of that slope, one groomer has ever been able to climb that headwall. but anyway, i'd just thought i'd give you a little info on why we decide to groom or not to groom a slope. again, glad you had a good time here, and hope you come back soon
  3. we only have 2 parks open right now, incubator (baby) park and bunker hill.. incubator park has 6 rails in it right now, and will have them in until next week. these are the features as you approach them coming down hill, listed from right side to left side.... 11ft X 8in wide flat rail or 15 ft X 3ft flat box.... then 24 ft up down rail or 15 ft X 1ft flat box... then 30 ft X 1ft up flat box or 18 ft X 1ft flat down box *all the takeoffs are ride on as its our beginner park bunker hill has 3 rails and one jump right now with the jump rebuilt last night theres a dragon box, flat box and down flat down box in the jump is about 20ft from lip to knuckle *all the takeoffs have a small gap to the rail, but are not urban
  4. has sno mountain taken delivery of the 22 ft pipe monster yet? a conversation i had a little while back with someone at zaugg makes me think that this may not even happen this season
  5. anyone interested in the job, email an application or resume to jgarbacik@skiroundtop.com
  6. yea, they are doing a great job. roundtop's looking like it will be 100% open by saturday. grooming crew is coming together, parks are getting there, its turning out to be a half decent time out on the hill. thanks for the props though. side note: recruit terrain park opens at noon and bunker hill opens tomorrow morning
  7. bunker hill is looking like it should be open for tomorrow (wednesday) recruit will be open towards the end of the week, and the pipe should be ready by weekend-early next week

  9. no worries, i didn't take that comment as a bash against the mountain. hell, we did everything possible to keep those trails open. i spent a good number of nights poppin asprin every 3 hours while pushing snow over bare spots and trying to keep the slopes looking good
  10. it was here the first week of the season.... like a week before we opened and we lost snowmaking weather the sunday after we opened
  11. the forum youngblood event is still on

    roundtop - closed
  13. there are alot of other pa ski areas who are in the exact same position as bear. the only difference is that bear has already made their decision to be closed, where as the others are still on a day to day, hour by hour basis. more than likely though, bear won't be the only one temporairly closing
  14. wow man.. do you really think that just because you, or anyone else for that matter, bought a season pass that it somehow magically makes the temperatures colder? just because the forcast says snowmaking is "favorable" doesn't mean they can actually make snow. just about every resort in pa is hurting. marginal snowmaking temperatures along with an ass ton of rain doesn't help at all. just chill bro
