  1. I like that idea...maybe we could just get the krank'd girls to make little scavenger hunts of samples that lead over to the family park.
  2. What kinds of ticket pricing do you guys think would/should be put on a summer setup? Keep in mind there would be no income from tourists and all expenses would have to be covered...
  3. Do not ski on any steps! Do not ride off the sides of the lips! Do not touch the lip to a rail unless you are going to hit the rail!
  4. It took more time getting it from the front door of the shop to the snow i think. But yea, overall i was there from like 9pm-5am and then andy was still grooming when i left...What's wrong with the lip on the quarter? Did you hit that and/or the new urban down in tubing?
  5. The jump in the halfpipe is gone because we had to drag the quarter pipe over it in order to get it to the top of cascade. It was quite an interesting process.
  6. Just got back from Bear...Andy and I pulled the quarter pipe out of the shop and DRAGGED it up to cascade in reverse with it strapped to the blade of the groomer. Quite the night. Oh yea, and we moved the big handrail down to the top of tubing. I think its going to be nice.
  7. I think both of the jumps in tubing are getting very close to what we want them to be. A bit of a steeper landing on each is in the near future. Just need another night or so of blowing.
  8. Everyone has their own opinions on how jump lips should be built. There are a variety of jumps throughout Bear Creek and every one of them has been succesfully cleared...I often go through and cut lips (especially in Cascade and the bigger jump line) while listening to the opinions of some of the better riders and park crew members at bear. The biggest problem we have been running into is the landing on the first big jump not being steep enough to hit the second, but trust me, people have been throwing down on both of those jumps.
  9. I can hit pretty much any rail or box that I can hit alpine on tele skis too. Spin on, spin off...You just need to be really comfortable in tele gear which is a bit hard to do in in the first place. If anybody wants tele lessons send me a pm and I'll see if I can help you out. I've helped teach multiple ski patrollers at camelback, a handful of ski racers, some instructors of varying skiing ability, two snowboarders that had never skiied before, and many others. With the somewhat recent advances in telemark equipment the sport has been growing rapidly and riders of all abilities can learn if they want to. Myself, my brother and my dad all telemark and are always willing to give advice to those who ask. There is a strong group of pinners on the Camelback ski patrol and they are all very approachable, along with a VERY large group that can often be found taking over Camelback on the weekends. The best way to push your progression is to ride with people who are better than you, so make tele friends!!
  10. I agree, some cash prize rail jams would be sick
  11. Interesting ideas, you guys should start posting some pictures of stuff you think is cool.
  12. You could easily teach a park lesson at Bear on any day we've been open all season.
  13. I'm pretty sure the plan right now is to set black bear a feature or two at a time as opposed to staying all night long and doing a total tear down and setup. I'll try to find out for sure when I get back, right now I'm out for a bit w/ a seperated shoulder.
  14. Conditions have been warm but soooooo much fun the past two days. I dont know about you guys but I love soft snow and skiing without a jacket. I cut the jump lines in cascade real nice today and the big jump at the bottom was getting hit a bunch when i left.
  15. I'm hoping that once we get more blowing temps those kicks get steeper and higher so the jumps are more bmx style and poppy w/ steep landings.
  16. Yea I was just there all day today...I cut all the lips on the jumps in cascade and I personally liked how each one kicked you with enough speed to clear the next without much adjustment. I also fixed up the big jump and thought it was real nice today.
  17. I'm not offended by anybody's criticism as long as they know what they're talking about. Catch my attention sometime and i'll ride over to the double c with you guys and talk to you about the setup.
  18. I wasnt really sure how to setup the lips for that double c and the snow wasnt very good to work w/ when we first cut the lip. I'm thinking it needs to be up on a bigger mound of snow w/ big gap lips. If you guys could give suggestions that would be great. Also if you guys have any sketches or drawings of creative stuff you'd like to see you can come find me and I'll make a CAD model of it to show to my boss. I'm a skier on park crew usually wearing a grey jacket fur hood or a yellow puffy.
  19. Little mofos taking the bamboo!! I'm pretty much positive that Andy is cutting all the lips tonight. When I was setting up this morning I tried to start cutting the lips on cascade so they had a little pop, but the snow was all full of chunky crap ice balls. Hopefully he'll be able to get a nice tilled finish on them for tomorow morning.
  20. I would say you can expect to see new park setups during the week as soon as we lose blowing temps.
  21. It's been said before, but any ideas posted on this forum are read by a number of people involved with designing and building the park at bear. If you have specific ideas it would be best if you think them through thoroughly and then describe them or post them along with a picture or sketches. Your input is appreciated.
  22. All anybody can do is hope for cold weather
  23. The snow today wasnt very cooperative...we spent a lot of time filling ruts but they would just re-appear after 30 or so riders stomped in the same exact spot. I'd like to be able to at least keep all the lips on the larger stairset in very nice shape as consistently as possible, so please try not to ride over the wooden top and stairs. The entire area surrounding the stairset should be kept as clear of people as possible, especially towards the end of the battleship box and over in the blind spot after the steps. I understand that the location of the small jump causes a lot of congestion in that area, but that will be changed soon. Educating people who dont understand reasonable park etiquette will go a long way, so lend some helpful tips to people you see creating dangerous situations.
