poconoceancity Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Wow that would kick ass... is that a guess or word from somewhat official sources? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was up there last weekend and some locals mentioned that killington was trying to open on the 23rd and would if they had four cold nights in a row.
ThinkSnow Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 You're making me very happy right now
skimom Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 (edited) Oct 23??????? That's in 3 days - I have the weekend off and nothing will keep me away if it opens, though it will be a mob scene. It's a good thing my skis are by the door and ready to go. Edited October 20, 2004 by skimom
skimom Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 I'm going to be really PO'ed if you guys are putting us on. I just checked their website and didn't see anything about opening, except "in the upcoming weeks". But, heres a pic.
ThinkSnow Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Doesn't look to me like they'll be opening in a few days, but who knows... october dump?
skimom Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 K-Mart can really crank it out when conditions are good. But, that pic is from 2 days ago - you'd think they would have updated it if they made progress.
ThinkSnow Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Are they getting anything close to 24-hour freezing temps up there??
AtomicSkier Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Are they getting anything close to 24-hour freezing temps up there?? http://www.weather.com/weather/local/USVT0...rom=search_city doesnt look good
ThinkSnow Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Ahh... barely freezing over night, I don't think we'll see skiing on the east coast for another couple weeks.
skidude Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Well I emailed K-mart to see what they said...Just to make sure.... Sorry guys Expect an early November opening date, weather depending. We will be following last year's strategy of opening only when we have the opportunity to get open top to bottom and when we are confident we will be able to stay open for the duration. Last season Killington closed on May 11, 2004. Our focus is shifting to provide a better quality product with diverse options for a variety of ability types as opposed to one expert trail open for a longer period of time. Hope this helps you.
ThinkSnow Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 Well, that's a nice email to get from them, even if it means no east coast skiing for a few more weeks... (seriously now) Who is up for a K-mart road trip the first weekend they're open?
AtomicSkier Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Well, that's a nice email to get from them, even if it means no east coast skiing for a few more weeks... (seriously now) Who is up for a K-mart road trip the first weekend they're open? Just the day thang? I'd be up for that....Would have to leave mighty early
ThinkSnow Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 We could figure it out... I'd be up for it.
AtomicSkier Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 We could figure it out... I'd be up for it. I'm a morning person, and i know you are too....Perhaps we could convince ski999 to go, and now it just got alot more fun. Skidude, you could drive with me
