  1. PA residents only? Have they ever done that? Can't imagine why they would. NJ $ aren't green?
  2. The argument for Montage - based on skiing off the Phoebe Snow lift White Lightning and Boomer are the most challenging terrain in NEPA (WL is the steepest and Boomer generally has real nice naturally formed bumps) Doesn't get skied off for a long time Never a lift line even on holiday weekends Nice glades $29 morning tix on weekends, and they normally let you ski a good past the cut off time with them. Only real down side is the extra drive. Slow Phoebe Snow lift is more than made up for by absence of lines. Really BB over Montage? I have never found much there that is remotely challenging. Where is Tanglewood. Does it still exist?
  3. Friday they will have 29 trails - everything except Valley School, Challenge, Widow, LG, Upper Main, BBumps, SleepyH, Bbaumer, Skytop, Frontier Alley. Razors will be bumped by Sat if not sooner
  4. My ranking: Montage Camelback - Blue tie, prefer Blue weekdays and CB weekends Frost Shawnee (Almost never bother with Elk as I'd rather hit Hunter at that distance and price and BB is basically only if all else is closed or for variety after a few hours at JF) But throw kids in and Shawnee goes to #1
  5. It doesn't compare in terms of challenge (though it has runs at least as hard as Switchback is when groomed). There are rarely bumps, it has less vertical, and where there are steep sections there is never a sustained drop of more than 300 feet. It does have lots of trees in play when there is good coverage, it is a great place for skiing with kids (mine can do every trail there now, but still find the blacks challenging), and their peak lift lines are well under 5 minutes, compared with more like 20 at Blue. It is also 15 minutes closer to me and lets kids under 46" ski free. All reasons it has been my go to place for skiing with kids.
  6. Any info yet on what they will have open tomorrow?
  7. To be fair I was consuming bandwidth that could have been used for photos of Swift, feuds with ski instructors, or lists of buffets and fast food places.
  8. Gotta do both new or old. Didn't get my old bindings adjusted to new boots. Posted the details of what I got in a gear thread. Probably bring both as I want to at least do a run or two in the new stuff but have the old stuff in case it is real shaky. Hoping to do Blue Friday and Windham Saturday
  9. So what do you think, will conditions Friday warrant giving my brand new skis and boots a spin or should I bring out the old pair to endure potentially damaging bare spots.
  10. Got some Salomon Mission GT boots and Volkl 75 RTM skis today. First real equipment purchase in about a decade, other than poles, goggles, helmet, clothes.
  11. Either Friday or Saturday I will be there. If it is Saturday I will be with kids.
  12. Buffets and fast food being frequented by someone in the tombstone biz smacks of vertical integration.
  13. I go with don't post things on the Internet that you really want to keep secret.
  14. CB offering free tix this Saturday at 10 to anyone over 14 who expresses an interest and is ready to have their skiing tested in a group setting from 1030 to 1230.
  15. Yeah, checked distance - too far for one day even from there. But could make a multi day trip somewhere with kids if conditions warrant it in NE. We are all free the 26th through 28th and would be starting in CT. I don't give up on ski season easy
  16. I would consider going up to Sugarbush to ski on Easter because I am spending the night before in CT, and have passes for kids to ski free there.
  17. Maybe do Blue Friday solo and Windham Saturday with kids if both hold up, use up what I have paid for.
  18. Just bought my first home and carpets and flooring and painting and furniture and etc etc etc and did I mention alimony? Pretty tapped out about now.
  19. Elk is done. Offering 31% rebate off this year's pass price to those who renew for next year.
  20. Have tix I have already paid reduced rates for at Windham and Blue. Hope I can find a way to still use them. Then I have a kids ski free offer that my pipe dream is to use at Sugarbush on Easter. But I'm not counting my bunnies on using any of those deals at this point. At least I started my season first weekend of December and got 14 days in so far. More than I did in 2012-13 anyway.
  21. Coverage was fine on the trails that were open. You could see closed trails from lift and agree with decision to close them. Felt like 650 but no challenge on what was open. Just a nice day outdoors on snow with no lines.
