  1. Puts Hunter and Peak to shame for all their claims of snowmaking prowess and the desire you would think Peak would have to show what they can do with their latest acquisition.
  2. 800 feet of vertical on upper and lower Onteora. Now folks in PA can start singing Wham! Tunes like "I don't want your Freedom." Personally I will pass on Belleayre tomorrow as I am heading to K for Sat and Sun turns.
  3. Join a ski club and get a PASR card for $57 good for a day at each of 6 mountains including Blue (and so JFBB CB Shawnee and 2 lesser places). Use any day after Jan 3. Even if you only ski three of them it brings your price down to 19 per day. Best deal in PA skiing if you don't ski enough for a pass to pay.
  4. Could snow tomorrow and make it look less WRODlike
  5. Enjoyed a mid April 70 degree day skiing BB with the kids last year when everything else in PA and Catskills was closed and they were 75% open
  6. 2 hours is realistic time from exiting GWB to pulling into Hunter if no traffic. Allow extra time for getting to and over GWB, and for traffic, especially on the way home. Add 15 for Windham or Belleayre, add 45 for Plattekill. Mountain Creek under an hour from GWB.
  7. Nice. Hope it holds up til I make it there for Sat and Sun.
  8. Hopefully not ones where you bought a season pass
  9. The season or the "mountain"? Cool. Will do. Sweet gig patrolling there?
  10. I grew up in PA and lived there when I started skiing. But yeah, in NJ now, and PA is the closest skiing and by far the easiest to do as a day trip.
  11. 90% of my ski days in Poconos the first 10 and last 5 years I have skied. 90% Catskills about 20 years in between. Made about 15 trips further North and about 10 West in those 35 years. Can't say I am most proud of the Poconos part, but it works for my location for the forsee able future.
  12. Skiing PA more a point of convenience than a point of pride
  13. If they have enough open I may bring the kids Saturday. But I doubt that will be the case. Kids aren't park rats.
  14. Hamilton. Closer and easier to park.
  15. Not able to move (actually under contract to buy a house now) . Gotta deal with commute. But it's all on train so I can read and do stuff on my phone the whole time.
  16. Commute ranges from 1:15 to 1:30. Last year I had a 25 min commute, but I make about 35% better $ with longer commute.
  17. Got 2 early season BOGOs for K so my buddy and I will ski 2 days for price of one. Booked a room at Inn at Long Trail. I suspect by that weekend K will have as much to offer as a fully open Blue. If after Sat we feel we want something else we may hit a different place on Sunday. Also leaving from work in Jersey City Friday which cuts the drive considerably. I can be at the Inn only about 3 hours later than I would get home from work.
  18. Belleayre now projecting Dec. 4 Unless BB surprises, closest skiing this holiday weekend will be Gore or Jiminy. And once you are going that far, I would think it made more sense to drive to K for the longer runs. Looks like the start to my Skison will be Dec 5 at Killington
  19. The kind of bonus that keeps a ski area solvent.
  20. No more walking at K as of today. Full runs off K1. Hunter announced not opening this weekend on FB. Belleayre announcement promised today.
  21. That is exactly my point. Surprise open today with tix for canned food. Then make real money on Friday to sunday.
  22. If they want to be open this weekend I expect they will do a surprise opening tomorrow as they won't want to blow holiday weekend revenue on the ski for canned food thing
  23. K now predicting t2b for Turkey weekend with 1640 vertical runs from the k1 express gondola
