  1. painting that floor was a disaster. I fell on it. On Sunday watch 2 kids fall.
  2. Closed today. Upper and lower Fast Track closed. WOW! taking lessons from Elk on screwing with people. It states in Elk's season pass contract that if you talk bad things they can revoke your pass.
  3. Closed today. Upper and lower Fast Track closed. RunAway open TTB.
  4. Closed today. LH was not open per website over the weekend. Conditions report has suggested something like -- "tireless snowmaking team will take to the mountain tonight. Spot guns on high traffic areas and the headwalls on the Northface are prime targets as well as terrain expansion efforts on Upper Runaway and Fast Tracks entirety" since last week. Still not open. Park jibhonks don't care about long cruisers.
  5. I was at Blue yesterday. 10 minute lines just to get in the men's room in the Valley Lodge. Parking was painful. Remarkably, everyone seemed cheerful though!
  6. How about this gem from the current Elk Mountain brochure! Lets see: 800 new trees -- check. While cutting down old growth forest along the way. Extensive lift improvements -- At Elk??? Look the same to me and have since 1994! New Elk Wagon -- Really !! What a convenience. New Storage building -- Well they cleared the trash away, but no building yet. So far is a virtual building. Extensive main pond work -- refurbished the dam to further screw with the Villagers. No wonder they had to raise the prices again this year. I do like the new t-shirts in the Ski Shop -- they say "Grow a Pair" of skis and Ski Elk Mountain!
  7. That's shitty sorry to hear it! You were on a trail and hit a submerged ice Boulder? WTF? Damn sorry!
  8. Same report 1/23 and today: Closed today. Runaway and Fast Fack not open Top to bottom anyway! Website is also confused as to what is open or not on that side of the mountain.
  9. Closed today. Upper and Lower RunAway and Fast Track not open Today anyway! Maybe they are going for the Big Boulder all parks reputation. IDK!
  10. Closed today. Runaway and fast rack not open Top to bottom anyway!
  11. OMG! What Schif said is so right! When Montage opened the first time, our family was lured there and skied there for some many years. I still bear the scars of an attempt to tuck upper and lower fast track on 210 cm downhill skis -- K2 812's. Ended up in the woods without skis with broken ribs and a hematoma on my hip this is still resolving 20+ years later. Because of a variety of issues when I moved away we just never made it back to the Mountain. Elk's management continues to alienate folks with their tactics to take over the village at the base; I think what keeps the place popular among the locals is that they do offer consistent snow and grooming and rarely is there every enough people there to form much of a lift line. Long Haul Closed today.
  12. The issue for me is that i like the long cruisers and yes the upper mountain is flat, but cruising long GS turns on Fast Track and Run Way is a lot of fun. Sure the North Face steeps are great cruisers too, but i like to ski the whole mountain, especially when it is as small and short as we have in Pennsylvania.
  13. So I have bee watching the Status Report for the Lifts at Montage. Many have said they are frustrated by the lack of a single Bottom to Top chair and some have said they don't ski there for that reason. Here is a thread to document the status of The Long Haul: Please feel free to update! Closed Today
  14. At Elk, I think the race team pays a fee to the mountain for the use of the Slalom trail. The race kids and their families are a source of significant income for the mountain. At least they were, with the management now systematically alienating most everyone they come in contact with, one wonders how long they can continue with their reindeer games. Elk, Its like skiing at Blue with a longer drive!
  15. Guns are on this morning at Seven Springs!
  16. Someone's girlfriend, wife, SO? http://wnep.com/2015/02/21/incredible-driver-parks-car-on-stairs-at-ski-resort/
  17. Skinny Skis too? Gotta love Police and Thieves! Junior Murvin and Lee "Scratch" Perry; just genius! -Cheers!

  19. This is what Elk looks Like on a Holiday Weekend: Seriously, Even Elk can get a bit crowed on a Holiday weekend. Compared to the other areas with greater proximetry to the cities, the crowd is usually far less. Especialy when you have a good portion of the skiers sitting on slow moving lifts; the managment philopsphy is to control the number of people on the slopes by not moving too many people up the hill too fast! It gives the person next to you on the chair ample time to impress you will their fabulousness! Usually MLK weekend is not as bad as Presidents weekend. My advice: Get there early, Ski all you can til 10:30 when the crowd usually starts to build. Eat lunch at eleven, otherwise you will never get a table., enjoy the gathering crowd til 2:30. Usually by 3 the place starts to clear out and you can hit it hard til 4:30. Elk should have great overage this weekend, I would expect that all of the snowmaking trails will be open and all lifts running. This past weekend it was never more than a 3 minute line at any of the lifts. Pack your own food, the quality of the food has gone down considerably while prices have gone up. Cheers!
  20. What I love is the grooming! The way they can take a wide flat slope and make it so much more dangerous and exciting by leaving the edges ungroomed with a 5 foot drop off!
  21. Did anyone else notice on Tuesday night that the slop side webcam and the summit lodge webcam where out of sync? The summit large cam was showing snow guns blasting from above while the slope side cam showed a clear evening shy with no snowmaking. The Blue webcams are still the best in the state, followed by Camelback.
  22. Is it possible they can open in less than 18 hours?
