  1. Was at Camelback last Saturday and it was hella busy that day too. We mostly lapped Pocono Raceway and Rhododdendren Glen so mostly skied onto the raceway triple, but for the few runs we took to the top we hit the bottom quad. Even with a full queue it really wasn't more than 5-7 minutes. They had a liftie there matching groups of 4, which was nice.
  2. I think it's in or attached to the arena, IIRC
  3. Keep an eye on the "sweet deals" thread here, I'll try to post when they are selling gift cards at half price. Get yourself logged onto that website and have your payment information logged in there, and be ready to go at 9am when they go on sale. You can get that season pass for just a bit over half price if you are dedicated to it.
  4. Don't forget to keep an eye out for hidden snowflakes on the slopes! Trade in for swag in the upper lodge
  5. This all sounds like some pretty ridiculous, voodoo science crap. I suppose next you'll all be telling me that not being a fat slob at 5'9" and 275 pounds would help too? lol
  6. That's right around when I started contributing, couple years into my career. Maybe 2009.
  7. That too. I have done very well on the employee purchase plan. CMCSA about to split. I predict a nice run after the split.
  8. I wasn't either. Thought it was okay, but not special. Too much bun, too sloppy. I might get one and ask them to make me one on the regular size bun. Chicken chalupa thing at Taco Bell was good tho
  9. Quads are above the knee on the front of the legs. Thighs would be the back. Lower leg would be shins and calves, respectively. Will def post a report if we hit Camel. Waiting to hear back from Pops on where he wants to go. We bought triple tickets to CB, so want to make sure we use them on days when conditions should be good. Feels more like a waste to burn a day there on shit conditions then to hit Blue since we have passed there.
  10. Wasn't planning on skiing today, but one of the supervisors at work hit me up at an employee meeting on Tuesday and said he was coming out, asked if I wanted to join him. Had him look at the time off calendar and day was available. So what the hell. Got to the upper lodge right about 915 am after getting the wife and kids out the door, buddy was in line trading in a voucher from CBS Local deal for his lift ticket. Booted up and on the snow about 930. Conditions were nice and firm with a topcoating of man made powder as we cruised down Vista. Elected to run down Burma since it was presumably in the best shape I've seen this season, and likely the best shape it would be in all day. Didn't disappoint with a nice firm but not icy surface, a little bit of loose on top but not as much as elsewhere because they weren't blowing there. Turned out to be ROTD for me. Up the Burma lift and we headed over to hit Switchback. Was a little more crowded than I would have expected for a weekday morning, and conditions were pretty nice. There was some powdery snow pushed around from a few guns on here and there, made for some bumps and stuff that in the flat light were a bit spicy for my skill level, but nothing I can't handle. Point them downhill and make small turns, and no proble— Oops, spoke too soon! Caught and edge or something and took a hell of header face first pointed straight down the fall line! Lol, wish the GoPro had been on for that run. Knocked the wind right outta me, tasted blood but spit was clear so whatever. Got recombobulated (let's make it stick, NMSki!) and continued down to the lift. Up the Main St chair and was chatting with my friend about excessive quad burn. I'm pretty sure I get it from poor form, and I really need to work on it. Legs were already killing me. Worried it was going to be an early day for me. At the top decided to hit up Lazy to see what that was looking like, didn't realize it was closed. Explains the crowds (relatively) on Switchback. Back into Switchback and managed to complete the entire thing upright. Even more people now. Skied all the way into the valley and to the sixer. Was really feeling it in the legs. Had to stop to give them a break once on the way from the bottom of Main st to the lift. At the top decided against Nightweaver because I couldn't see how much of the trail was bumped from the trailhead. Went down Paradise and split from my friend, he hit Dreamweaver. Paradise wasn't bad at all save the guns being a bit of a nuisance (but glad as hell that they're on!) and would have enjoyed the shit out of it if not for my damn quads. Knew that was gonna be my last run, which sucks to quit after 4 measly runs but hey, it's better than a day at work! Headed back up and took Tuts to the cutback to the upper lodge. Went in for lunch with Ed and he went back out after lunch. We went up the stairs to look at the school hill, they were delivering the big blocks of ice for the carvings, throne and ice slide for tomorrow's festivities, and further up the hill it looks like they are starting to put together the luge course. Saw one turn formed, I thought they would have had it all together by now. Bummed to call it quits after only a few runs, but planning on skiing tomorrow (looks like Camel) and didn't want to totally kill the legs. Like I said, it could be worse, I could be at work!
  11. Become a cable guy, lol. Starts a bit on the low side but you can build it pretty quick. I never thought I could make what I make now.
  12. I wouldn't commute to Philthy from the valley for less than 100k per year. I drive 45 min to Bucks county for 60k now and it's starting to suck, lol
  13. Definitely blowing all over. Lazy and upper Sidewinder are closed for heavy blowing, lots of snow on SW and bona fide whales on Lazy. Guns on the entire length of Paradise and Nightweaver. Sporadic guns on all over the rest of the mountain.
  14. I get that it says that. I'm telling you it's a misprint. It will be good for the remainder of this season, just like the same exact deal that was posted the same exact week last year was. Don't buy it if you don't believe it, I don't care. I don't have a vested interest one way or another. I see the deals, I post the deals, PASRs save money. Or they don't. Whatevs.
  15. That's wrong info then. It will be usable for the remainder of this season. Just like it was last year.
  16. Bump for the Ski Ride and Dine deal going back on sale at Sweet Deals. Monday at 9am get a package including 2 midweek 8 hr lifts and a single $40 food credit to Slopeside for $50. A really great deal. http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/allentown/blue-mountain-ski-resort-
  17. Went up today but was held back by two of my nieces and one nephew that I was treating to the $49 first timer lesson deal. They dawdled in the morning so pops and I didn't even get them on the snow until 930, then booted up and were out just after 10 ourselves. Only made two runs, Paradise, Lazy, and then headed back to the lesson area to meet up with them after their lesson ended. Spent a couple hours taking them up to the top of the School Hill and trying to help them along, but since they all chose to snowboard instead of ski, I wasn't much help. Tried to give them some basic, obvious pointers but they weren't really listening anyway. Didn't go very well, lol, but they all said they had a good time. By the time we got on the hill conditions were pretty shitty, and it was crowded as all hell, including a couple of shmucks with a kiddie lesson group strung out 2/3 of the way across the face of the trail smack in the middle of the hard right toward the bottom of Lazy. Morons.
  18. I started the thread, I can jack it where I want to! Also, it was meta-topical since we were saying that driving to the mountain is more dangerous than skiing, and then talking about ways momskeez can avoid 22 when going to the True, and avoiding 22 is the safest thing you can do on 4 wheels.
  19. You actually never even get on 22. The exit ramp for 378 become the exit ramp for Airport Rd on 22. On the way home you would have to merge into 22 east for about 1/4 mile before exiting onto 378. That's my route home from work almost every day as I live 2 miles from the airport. During rush hour the ramp does back up some, but those of us exiting to Airport road have taken to tossing on the right blinker to signal that we're exiting and cautiously using the shoulder to keep moving. I'm not sure but I may have started that trend about 7 years ago, lol
  20. Headed up there on Wednesday the 8th for 97.5 the Fanatic day
  21. Looks like a snowboarder died last night at Camelback. Details from the mountain are sparse, but they say he wasn't wearing a helmet.
  22. Pro tip: you can bring the bottle through, just not the water. Bring an empty and fill it at the water fountain. Add one of those powdered water enhancers for flavor.
  23. Not to mention if the entire class isn't interested, he should have changed the focus. He needs to remember who pays who
  24. I'm dumb, meant Lazy. Can't say how the coverage is, but during my run (and pause at the top before starting) at least a dozen skiers were in there. Saw more later when going to Switchback and Main Street too.
