They seem to be in 100% confident they will get open next weekend.

I don't ever recall them being so upfront about anything really but maybe with their new capacity they can make Vista go in a couple of hours.

Still assuming best case they have only 3 nights at best next week. That would be mad impressive.

Disc golf hole has been removed from Vista. Just sayin.

  2. Noticed they have a portable fan gun laying in wait for extra coverage at the intersection of Main St and Burma, good to see they are least preparing and have snowmaking on the radar.

  3. Pops and I went up last weekend and stashed stuff in the seasonal locker.

Considering they blow snow on tubing about as early as anywhere, I'd say as long as that stage is still there on the cam they don't have any real thoughts about snowmaking.

There's also still a disc golf hole on the middle of Vista 🤣

Any one going to the Warren Miller film this year? It's near me this weekend and we plan on going to get the stroke rising.

Pops and I have tickets for the Saturday night showing. Buckman's was sold out of the Friday night so I just went with Sat

A Friday opening eliminates a lot of people who can’t get off of work. Only the most dedicated people will be out so the gaper to expert ratio will be lower.

Yeah it’s Pa. so we’ll be lucky to be skiing by Christmas.

Does not apply to Root Friday. It's Gaper Fest extraordinaire. And it's phenomenal.

A soft opening would be 5 PASRs, 5 of the bumpers crew, 10 public tickets sold at $120 each. They would open only with the ditch on coming soon and the quad.

You give them too much credit. They would open with only the Ditch on Coming Soon and the 6pack. Coin flip on which 6pack, too

I assume you have patronized their establishment?  i havent been in there for a few years.  the apres ski buffet was tempting last year, but not sure if anybody went to review the food.

Pops and I attempted to go for the apres ski buffet one time last year. We were there, but the apres-ski buffet was not. The food was okay, but the service was horrendously slow. As my only visit, I recognize that could likely be a one-off and would go back if with people that wanted to go there.

  8. Stopped by the Buckman's in Whitehall for the tent sale yesterday. Only picked up a couple of used boot bags for the boys crap and a good condition used pair of pants for the older boy. Pops got new boots from the clearance sale.

Picked up a flyer about their pre-season tune up sale, seems like a good deal, figured I'd pass it along

Correct.  its not unlimited, so for those of us that do more than 7 days, just crumple it up and put it in the circular file.  Even if you are thinking i will do the 7 days on Ikon, and then buy day passes for the balance of my days, i think after about 6 weekend day passes it would be going negative, unless Ikon offers discount tix after you use up your days.  i guess thats something to consider as well, but again, for the weekend regulars at Blue, like myself, its a mute1080 point.

Yeah, I was trying to see a way where you could even combine this for early in the season with picking up the Blue pass when they put it on sale to ski the rest of the season and all the next. If that could work, it could be a nice play for someone like Pops and I that are on an every other year out west trip cadence. But 7 visits just isn't enough for someone that wants to ski every weekend day at Blue. Or even splitting between Blue and Camel. There's 18 weekend days between December and January, so gotta buy 4 right there. Historically you still gotta buy tickets for most of February, and then any midweek days I'd want to go. Doesn't take long to cost more than a Blue pass + a 4 day ticket to whatever resort we go to out west.

Maybe if I started trading brisket for buddy passes I could make the math work, lol
