  1. Looks like those stats won't be updated anytime soon then. So you're telling me there's a chance? Like one out of a hundred? Yeah!
  2. I will only if JF Dan asks me to.
  3. I'm 20 minutes from Seven Springs and there's like 2 inches here. I find it hard to believe 7 Springs got 8 inches. Fake news!
  4. That doesn't surprise me at all. It was insane that I was able to grab such a bargain on last year's model since they're so hard to find. It was a slam dunk. Keep checking the demo shop during your remaining time there. Maybe try in the mid afternoon to see if a pair's available, since demand is highest early morning when the powder is freshly groomed.
  5. That lady is just messing around and is probably an expert. Did you find any RTMs to demo out there???
  6. Yeah, I just realized that price is for group lessons. But if I go on Monday or Tuesday it shouldn't be a big deal. Not sure how effective group lessons are if there's a lot of people, but a private lesson is $239 and that's out of my price range. The shop waxed up my skis when I bought them, so maybe I'll try to stretch the current wax out for a few more seasons. JK, lol, I guess I will look into getting some fresh wax.
  7. I want to eventually go out west and ski powder like you guys, but at my current level I'd be buried in the powder after 30 seconds. How do you learn powder skiing without being able to practice it??
  8. Looks like 8 inches. I wasn't planning on going this week since I'll be skiing all next week and spending bank. It's so windy here that I bet the snow is blowing off all the steeps and revealing the icy layer below.
  9. I'll try to do it before Stowe next week. For now I'm checking out their lessons. It's $186 combined with a lift pass, which seems like a good deal (if I understand it correctly). Plus the instructor would spend 2.5 hours with me. If it's a group lesson then not sure I'm interested, I prefer 1 on 1 training. Here's the link. I'm looking at the Parallel Turns/Dynamic Riding lesson. https://www.stowe.com/ski-ride/adult/ski-and-ride-levels/
  10. Still Mr. Kitty. Last year I used my Elöns all season long without a tune up, and it was just fine.
  11. I know what you mean. That's exactly how I feel at Camelback after quitting early once it turns to loose frozen granular after being a perfect carpet of groomed frozen granular during the first few runs on FirstTrax.
  12. Zero times. I have 17 days on them and made over 400 runs on them without a wax or tune up. I think they're probably good for another 1,000 runs at least. Thanks SallyCat. I'll let you know if I ever want to take you up on this offer. I love cats and have one named Mr. Kitty. Actually I name every cat Mr. Kitty.
  13. Here is a video of me from yesterday when JF Dan said he does not care about my stats or my post count.
  14. ok. Looks like this thread jinxed it.
  15. Not sure why Camelback gets so much hate. Cliffhanger is a legit fun run. Even Enjorales said in his TR that it's comparable to other black runs he's done so far. I bet Cliffhanger was just as good as Razors or Challenge on that Wednesday powder day.
  16. Yes, I prefer index funds since I'm not a stock picker. Haven't experienced a significant correction yet but I know it's (probably) inevitable. I'll look at my bases and see if I should wax, though I'm too cheap to pay a shop $25 or whatever to do it and I don't have wax or a waxing iron.
  17. Just being pessimistic again as usual. But who knows. History shows that runs like this are often followed by a nasty correction, but I still believe if you stick it out for the long term and hold on during the downturns you'll be ok.
  18. Yeah man! Weather looks perfect. Hopefully I get some freshies while I'm there. Also hoping Stowe re-engergizes my love for skiing, since i haven't been feeling it the last few times out. I'm trying to invest for the long term, and I'd hate to be on the sidelines when the Dow hits 50K next year. I dont really believe in timing the market, although I know people can and do make a living off of it. I buy into the efficient market hypothesis.
  19. Just waiting for the 20% correction that's overdue...
  20. Stats or it didn't happen!
  21. Renting can be a better option financially depending on various circumstances. The New York Times has a calculator with numerous inputs to compare renting and owning. People automatically think renting is throwing money away because you're not building equity, but if your rent is cheap and you invest in the stock market instead, you can come out ahead of owning. This seems especially true lately with the bull market. Nothing at all wrong with being a renter.
  22. Thanks Sally and Steeze. Never actually said anything about quitting the site. All I said was that if I quit skiing right now no one would ever catch up to my stats because I'm so far ahead, and then all the haters started attacking because they're jealous that I made 700 runs on Honeymoon.
  23. Thanks, but you definitely missed toast. I would bet money that he cares the least.
  24. I've just received official notice that Matt Edge doesn't care about my stats, whether I quit this site, or about my karaoke machine.
  25. Harsh.
