  1. Renting can be a better option financially depending on various circumstances. The New York Times has a calculator with numerous inputs to compare renting and owning. People automatically think renting is throwing money away because you're not building equity, but if your rent is cheap and you invest in the stock market instead, you can come out ahead of owning. This seems especially true lately with the bull market. Nothing at all wrong with being a renter.
  2. Thanks Sally and Steeze. Never actually said anything about quitting the site. All I said was that if I quit skiing right now no one would ever catch up to my stats because I'm so far ahead, and then all the haters started attacking because they're jealous that I made 700 runs on Honeymoon.
  3. Thanks, but you definitely missed toast. I would bet money that he cares the least.
  4. I've just received official notice that Matt Edge doesn't care about my stats, whether I quit this site, or about my karaoke machine.
  5. Harsh.
  6. Wow, just realized the jerry has the same exact poles I have. Same color and brand. Very cool.
  7. What makes he/she a jerry? I haven't found any RTMs yet or skis on backwards. Is it their attire? My first time skiing I wore a full body snowsuit colored all orange, and in hindsight probably looked like a jerry.
  8. These kind of arguments are what drew me to this site in the first place. Very entertaining, but I could quit skiing today and none of you are even going to come remotely close to my vert and run count for this season.
  9. Is that Corbets? It looks like it. I've watched a ton of videos on Corbets. Did any of you guys attempt it? I would love to see some GoExpert footage.
  10. I've been a homeowner for a few years now. It sucks when stuff breaks and I have to pay money, and sometimes I'd rather live in a studio apartment, or even in a hotel room. But I couldn't deal with living that close to people all the time.
  11. Don't feel bad, they change my tags all the time. I'm only permitted one rad tag, which still remains on my first Camelback TR (for now). But Steeze is allowed unlimited rad tags. I guess because he's so rad.
  12. Great report. I'm glad you liked Cliffhanger. It's my favorite trail most days, and it's great because it's wide and has a nice sustained pitch. Also, it's usually not too crowded since most people seem to think it's truly "extremely difficult", even though we both know that's poppycock.
  13. Could hardly tell the difference, except for his Oakley goggles strap colors being opposite of yours.
  14. Oh so that's what actual powder looks like..
  15. Found Steeze secretly skiing at Camelback last week in his trademark gray helmet, Oakley goggles, and dark red sweater, and rocking RTM 81s.
  16. Great pics, post live updates all day!!!
  17. Just checked the webcam, the place is a ghost town. What's up with that? I thought it would be a zoo today. Marc Antony double should have zero lines all day. It was something else last week when the Sullivan broke down and there was a long line there... a rare sight.
  18. OMG I am laughing so hard at this. Your friend ski freak.
  19. Got chores to do today around the house. The benefits of being a homeowner. Yesterday was the worst day of skiing I had this season. Left after only 2.5 hours, my shortest session ever, because I just wasn't into it and was skiing so horribly. So I'm likely taking a break from it until I go to Stowe next week.
  20. I thought the self timed gates were only for the race team. They're usually doing some type of race event on Pocono Raceway. I often make laps on Pocono Raceway/Rhod Glen using the Stevenson Lift. It's not too bad if you get enough momentum to make it back to Stevenson. They have been running Pocono Raceway lift a lot this year, it usually starts around 9 I think.
  21. Can't make it tomorrow. Have a good time. Let me know when you're going again, since I think you mentioned you have the triple ticket deal. This morning, I found Rhododendron Glen was the best trail of the day, at least early in the morning. Pocono Raceway was also decent. Upper Cleo and Nile Mile were pure sugary snow... not sure I've come across that type of snow in such a large quantity before.
  22. Best report ever! However I don't wear a Go Amateur, but I do wear a Go Pro, so that SC kid was not even remotely similar to me. Also 170's are very long skis. That sucks it costs so much for FirstTrax, but glad you found some untracked stashes. Good trolling in the bar, I laughed out loud.
  23. A day this epic warrants a brand new trip report thread. Very nice!
  24. Thanks Enjorales. I'll let you know if I'm going tomorrow. The snow wasn't the best today, unfortunately. Nile Mile was full of sugar piles by 10 am. Guess that's to be expected with the warm ups.
  25. Thanks everyone. Quit early today, just wasn't feeling it and the snow was sugary everywhere. I'll look into taking a lesson.
