WMMR/Preston and Steve just announced they’re not holding the cardboard classic this year at all. Assuming it’s due to trying to quell large gatherings but also wondering if Vail could’ve put the axe in that as well.
sucks but i guess it was to be expected. for the last 5 years we've had friends come up and we make a long wknd out of it, been a big deal to us for a while now. we're at 2:39 in the vid and they called it a "giant rendition of a piece of shit"

The snow making and grooming I saw was on nmdw. Rip
Does it look close to opening anytime soon or is it way too early to tell?

JLaw with his powder baskets is gonna get pawned..shits become more technical since before the holidays. I rate the liftline at Booter mountain a double blue diamond.
they were changing up the staging area on the opposite side of the scanners from the lifts. hard to get used to. had to duck a few ropes a couple times.

it got both me and BenM yesterday
im cutting the spokes or whatever sticks out of the baskets off of my poles later today, someone said i needed some sort of basket, so i'm leaving a little bit of it on there. tired of getting caught in that netting.

Its nice to have them both. Hate to sound dramatic but NMDW is essentially no more. Wow.
true.
maybe i'm just going to consider it NMDW with obstacles now.

i'm not happy about it, i like that run a lot, but at least sidewinder is opening (projected) sat to make up for the loss.

Last few times i have been through, the only hint of construction was like a 2 mile stretch just for a bridge overhead, there wasnt any construction on 476 itself.
Up until now i never knew what the mobile construction speed thingys looked like. Never really saw anything that looked like it had a camera attached to it, but i wasnt looking for a car either.right, it is a very small area? lanes just shift for a bit? the only reason i knew about the cameras was because it got a lot of coverage on the news here. prob wasn't important enough for 6ABC, WTXF or NBC10 lol

No, the mobile construction speed cams. They're 2x white Jeep compasses (i think).
cherokees and you can't miss them if you look for the huge gear mounted to the roof rack.
i thought they were only supposed to be in work zones???? hmmmm
or did they restart construction? it was done last time i went through there.

Go this weekend. What’s stopping you?
My main regret was bailing and missing out on the conditions that day, not necessarily elk itself. That's not to say I wouldn't go any other time, but that one stung.

All this elk talk and the only thing I can think of is how badly I regret not going last year.

conditions were phenomenal today, at least at opening. they've prob gone way downhill since. razors was best it's been all season imo. it was open to the public at least until i left. challenge equally good, coming into lower main st was a little uneven but not bad.
cleaning crew was taking care of the mess piling up underneath the 6er, not sure how far down they got. adios perfectly positioned jack daniels can perched upon twigs.
i think ryan's squirrel is back. saw it creepin across sidewinder.
first chair with some guy who was super excited to be on first chair, did 10 runs (5 were razors) and left.
i am pretty sure bethlehem ford guy was there, dunno about anyone else.

Best day of the season and quite the pleasant surprise. ROTD was the full Widow Maker to Little Gap. Great to see @Benmenjoying his first Blue pow day 💪
It really was something else today. Glad I had some good guides to help me find all that untracked.

Sweet. I’m in a grey-ish Subaru. Don’t judge the MA plates, I’ve been here a while
As long as it's not NY/NJ you're fine.

Not sure on arrival, but I’ve got good gear for being cold and wet
When you pull into the valley lot, look for a blue-ish BMW on your left, turn in there and park.
