  1. sib, I see the same thing with my girlfriend at the snowboard shops. For two months a year over the last 5 years, I spend countless hours doing very detailed technical analysis on snowboards and the upcoming lines that are being offered by the various manufacturers, so I am extremely knowledgeable about the technical aspects of board construction and what is out there on the market today. As a result, much of this has rubbed off on my girlfriend and she is extremely intelligent when it comes to equipment. I find, though, that it still takes about 15 minutes before the guys at a shop stop talking to her like she's a "dumb blond" who spends her days on the bunny hills before retreating to the lodge for an afternoon of hot chocolate. Many shop people are arrogant to begin with. On top of that, pretty much all snowboarders have at least a bit of cockiness when it comes to riding. Put the two together and you enter very dangerous, annoying territory.

    Mt Hood

    oh man, that's beautiful.
  3. Alta.....sigh. A knuckledragger like myself can only dream...
  4. I hear a lot of hype about Bear Creek this year from some of the PA riders on my site. Are they putting any money into better snowmaking and terrain, or are all the improvements centered around the lodge and facilities?
  5. very good. I look forward to it very much!
  6. When's this new-fangled paskiandride.com gonna go live? I'm putting together a list of east coast resources on the net and I don't want to includ it until it's live. what's the holdup....can't you just hire more people?
  7. They are more or less handled on a per-resort basis, with guidence from corporate. But the message boards are hosted by Snowboard.com (sorry, shameless plug). We have an agreement with Intrawest to host skiing and snowboarding message boards for all their websites. It's been very successful thus far.
  8. Wow, those Daves really know how to use that Microsoft Frontpage well...
  9. Just got an email from ASC today. Bronze "all east" pass is only $349 (good at killington, snow, pico, etc.). Allows you to ski every day of year except for the holiday weekends (14 blackout dates total, but you have to be on crack to try to go to Killington on one of those days anyway). Pretty much pays for itself after 5 weekend days (assuming you pay full price). Details here: http://letters.killington.com/T6RT05A7C876D0CC6255F539F47FA0

I have no problem with AT&T GSM at CB. I initially had a tri-mode phone (TDMA+GSM US+GSM Global) because I didn't trust their new GSM network yet and also because I travel to europe alot. But I switched to GSM-only back in January and haven't had any issues at all. Signal is great at CB.
  11. yep, saw this, over $500 now pp. Almost $1100 out of my pocket for me and my gf this coming year, ouch. At least my Creek pass was only $179.

There was lots of snow up in VT this past weekend, but it was a bit musy....still had 62 trails open at stratton with almost total coverage, but it was thin in spots (of course). If they get hit with the white stuff this week, I think Killington or Stratton would be good choices.
  13. The parks are very good and when the superpipe was still open before the Chevy Grand Prix, it was as good a superpipe as I've ever ridden in (and I've ridden in two different pipes freshly cut by the top pipe builder in the world). They spent a lot of money getting that thing ready for prime time (but then let it go to shit fast after that). Mountain Creek has a lot of potential to be a very good mountain, but it never will be because of all the friggin people. I'd rather be poked in the ass with a hot steel rod than go to Creek on a weekend. It can be a total mess.
  14. After 12 straight hours of rain at Stratton this weekend, this is how they categorize the pouring rain: Umm, yeah. I guess it was cloudy.
  15. Methinks I will be skipping the passholder's party (even with the free beer and all the "fun" my beautifuly-crafted Microsoft Word invitation touted). Plus I'll probably be up at Killington, where there will be s-n-o-w.
  16. I would typically say "head north", my friends, but this goddamn warm weather isn't making any part of the east look good this march. I'm afraid this season is destined for mediocrity...
  17. where'd you go again? Alta....1 day trip Oh, very nice. I love Utah. I hope to go back in April.
  18. I now have in my possession, one (1) Camelback shotglass. Thank you all for your help. And FYI, there are two varieties that you can choose from, should you be interested.
  19. Glad to see your little get-together went well. It's always good to see when this Internet thingy helps people meet new stalkers, ahem, friends who share the same interests.
  20. Yes, that's a good deal...I would take it.
  21. Yep, they rape ya. Stratton the same. Okemo not far behind. Either is Mt. Snow. Come to think of it, this is one helluvan expensive sport...
