  1. haha good one! yea, what lodges in your opinion are the best to use at each mtn? Im always at a loss as i seem to pick the wrong dam lodge! Ill be at Killington friday and okemo saturday Well, at Okemo, it's always been the Base Lodge, but this year the new Jackson Gore lodge is open, so you have two options. The lift off of Jackson Gore only services that side of the mountain, but in one or two runs you can be back in the heart of Okemo mountain. I haven't parked at Jackson Gore, so I have no idea what it's like over there. At Killington, I am always there early and tend to park at Ram's heads. From that lot, you can easily start at Rams Head Mountain, or walk under the tunnel to the Snowshed area. Same thing on the way back, you can easily get back to your car from either Snowshed or Rams Heads, which give you options depending on what side of the resort you wind up on later in the day. I don't spend much time in the lodges there, though, although Rams Head is the nicest while Killington has some good food and beer. Our plans are to be at Stratton on Friday, then either Killington and Okemo on Sat and not sure about sunday yet. Although, it does also depend on how the conditions are looking. I'm usually at Killington serveral times a year, but haven't been there since the massive Nor'easter dropped 50 inches in December...boy what a weekend! going to vt

I'll also be up in VT that long weekend. Mixing it up between K, Stratton and P-Okemo-N.
  3. hmmm, well I'll certainly have to check that!
  4. Anyone ever see a Camelback shotglass for sale anywhere?...ever? my girlfriend and I have shotglasses from all the resorts we've been to, but realized that we dont have one from our local hill.
  5. I am amazed by how many deaths there continues to be on the slopes this year. This one is pretty close to home: http://www.wnep.com/Global/story.asp?S=1626263 I'm sure there will be more details in tomorrow's papers.
  6. I'm an idiot, I meant to say Cliffhanger, not Rocket. Rocket was good, too, but I still found a big an ice patch or two.
  7. I think Rocket had its best conditions of the year this weekend. I took 4 runs in a row down it at 1pm, which is typically a big no-no on a snowboard, but it was just great.
  8. My whole style of riding changed the day I bought 32 TM1 boots. These boots are simply amazing and easily the lightest boot on the market. Just try it on and you'll be convinced...
  9. HA! Yes, of course, everyday is a fantastic day at Camelback if you listen to the Daves reports. Camelback is always a skier's shangri-la, no questions asked. The only exaggerators as bad as CB are the folks at Killington. Killington peak could bust open and spew lava down the slopes and the Killington snow report would say something like "Spring-like conditions prevail today. Be prepared for BIG bumps! It's great out there!"

I hadn't heard about a death, so let's hope that's not the case. I've been keeping track of the recent skier/boarder deaths this year through some articles I've kept up on snowboard.com. I am amazed at the the number of non-avalance related deaths there have been this year in the US. It's quite sad. Scariest one was a kid up in Mass a few weeks ago who hit a kicker, caught and edge on his landing and died from a brain stem injury....and he WAS wearing a helmet. Gotsa be careful out there kiddies...
  11. aplogies for being the bad boy here
  12. do you get a handjob with that?
  13. WHAT????? You can use your pass TOMORROW - the REAL holiday???? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
  14. yeah, I agree, sucks. My friend went up to Killington this weekend knowing that there would be crowds, of course, but was also greeted by $72 "holiday" lift ticket prices. So what presents did all of your guys get for "Day Before Martin Luther King Day"??? It's, by far, MY favorite holiday.
  15. Windell's (http://www.windells.com/) also does skiing at Mt. Hood in the summer. Only downside to Windell's and others is that their off-hill facilities are fairly far from the mountain.
  16. I have to say that I was quite impressed with Rhodo yesterday. CB did a very nice job with it. If you're like me, you may get overly excited when you stand at the top of the park and see all those new kickers. However, I urge you to just take a stroll through it first to check it out...the first and third kickers don't really have large landing nuckels, which is cool IMO, but can take you by surprise.
  17. Well, I must admit that i was crazy enough to head up there yesterday (Saturday). The good news is that the conditions were excellent...maybe best I've seen them this year. And I also had a chance to play in Rhodo for a while...lots of fun. Also, the once-a-year skiers/boarders don't like to get their asses out of bed too early, so from 8:00 to 10:00 there were no problems at all. The chaos first lasted from 10 to 12 (lunchtime), but was only evident at the lift lines...loooong - the trails were actually fairly empty (seemed like the lifts were stopping every minute or two - even the singles lines were backed up way past the "singles this line" signs at the quads). Calmed down a bit from 12 to 1, but then utter chaos broke out from 1 on....long lift lines, social conventions at the top of the lifts, bloodbaths on any type of turn on the trails. Actually, any blue, double-blue or black was fine and conditions were still good that late in the day, but the lift lines were so long, I just had to head home.

    Friday

I hope the crowds don't finally wake up and come out this weekend. Is it me, or does it seem like the crowds have been very light this year???
  19. wow i think i could fit in about "3 runs" in that amount of time. don't flatter yourself, buddy
  20. So is that what they're teaching in health class these days??? No wonder this country is going to hell...
  21. Actually, I've heard many a story about summer lovin' in the Killington K1 gondola from my friend who lives and works there. Since the thing is relatively empty in the summer time, that leaves a full *6* minutes from base to summit for you and your significant other to do whatever you feel like doing in there.
  22. Ahhh, these guys did the Gondola at Mammoth...very cool and unique gondola.

    Friday

actually, I have a personal policy of not mentioning that mountains name unless i absolutely have to
  24. I admit that I do go to Ceek every once in a while. I bought two triple play cards this year, which equals 6 lift tickets for under $100. If you are a terrain park monkey, hands down, there is no better place to go in PA, NJ or southern NY state. I, however, am not and refuse to put up with 6 hour long lift lines and sheets of ice all over the mountain when I want to really ride. I'd rather be prodded in the ass with a hot iron rod than to go to MC on a weekend. And chances are about 50% that you WILL get prodded in the ass some time during the day by one of the 5000 out of control skiers on rental skis with Jets Starter jackets and blue jeans tucked into their boots. However, for the few days a year that I want to ride a real superpipe or hit some big kickers without heading west or driving up to Vermont, Creek is my choice...but that certainly is the exception.
  25. methinks Yes. EDIT: uhhh, aparently I already responded to this post <pay attention, chrisjur>
