  1. It is 50 degrees and raining here down South. I would love to come out tonight, but I don't have any faith that Blue can recover in time. Of course it is still early, things could change.

Be careful, Nazareth Skier Jay wears Kjuss, and he knows karate.

I'm sorry...I must have been looking at the wrong person in the photo. I find it funny that you people find the very stylish person a gaper when two feet to his right is a guy wearing his goggles around his neck, a hunting hat with the brim flipped up, an exposed cotton t-shirt with some sort of dunkin donuts logo thing on it, carrying poles that appear to be 60" long, and is he actually carrying his skis-tips down?

Nice find, although I don't consider him a gaper. He's rocking a pair of Oakley Fuel Cell sunglasses, a Kjuss puffy jacket and that is most likely a race suit you are laughing at. He is putting a slalom pole away on the rack in your photo. There were ASRA races up at Elk this past weekend. He was probably a competitor, drives a BMW M3, has a hot chick, and skis better than us all.
  5. PhilPug used to be from PA, he is kicking it in Tahoe now.
  6. I'm tempted to laugh, but you must be going through hell right now.
  7. Thanks for getting this started. I look forward to participating on the new hill. Count me in for 2012.
  8. It's good to see you stoked on skiing again.
  9. There was plenty of wind, although not the typical up-winds you get on Lazy. Paradise had mixed conditions and Main Street was kind of sugary early on. Lazy was crowded and had slick conditions. Crowds were moderate but made the limited terrain feel crowded. I had much more fun the previous two days. I split early.
  10. Today's conditions were ok considering the rain they received. The sugar at the bottom of Lazy was my only complaint. I'll give blue props for recovering so quickly after a storm. They milked every opportunity to blow new snow so some of the trails weren't ready until after nine.
  11. Wow, you are getting good at picking out the shot locations.
  12. I finally clicked on the new trail map over on the website. That Razorback run looks promising. It should be a win-win situation. The racers will come back to Blue for Nastar, plus the course will be in a highly visible area under a lift ensuring new patrons will get involved.
  13. NASTAR's website lists Razors Edge as the race trail for 2012. This is great news if it is true, and I will be back to put an extra hundred in Blue's bank account. Atomic Jeff and I were up on Saturday and noticed that they physically removed the old start haus from Widowmaker. I haven't been to the valley yet, but am looking forward to a pleasant surprise in a few weeks. I really hope that they didn't rename Finish Line as Lower Razors Edge. I know there are people on here that would like to try NASTAR, now may be the time.
  14. Sweet. I watched that a few times. Nice powder boards.
  15. Wow! That is an awesome photo, I don't care if that was Bear Creek, that is an awesome photo.
  16. I have been on Snow King twice. I used it once in the 70s for their Alpine Slide. The second time was in 1993 when I got on the lift without paying, told the ski patrol that I was going out of bounds, and skied off-piste chutes down to my friends condo in the Western part of town. They were totally cool with it, and I was the only person they had seen all day. The mountain is featured in the Clint Eastwood movie, "Any which way you can." It always struck me as odd, that there was a mountain at the base of a ski town that nobody used.
  17. Their Whitehall grand opening and after-party is in a week. http://www.buckmans.com/ The athlete list is incomplete on their front page, as Glen Plake is also due to appear.
  18. IMO, Risk It will be that much better. There were a few lines that the trees messed up, or maybe just made more difficult. You should probably be able to take a straighter line now.

  20. FWIW, I like the presence of the parking attendants. There were too many vehicle break-ins a few years ago. These guys seem to be deterring that kind of behavior. Now the armed guard on the other hand...
  21. I agree, way too much work for just something that looks cool. Having said that, I wouldn't mind being in Squaw right about now.
  22. I have been a fan of Simon since I saw him throw huge truck drivers at the X-Games over five years ago. I don't know if there is any advantage to cubing the pipe like he did, but it sure looks cool. There is video footage in the link. From skinet.com: "It's no secret that Simon Dumont goes big. But he dreams big, too. So when Red Bull and Squaw Valley jumped on board to make Simon's six-year fantasy a reality, the results are, well, pretty big. Simon took a run, and after the distance between his hits were measured, the 22-foot tall, 550-foot long half-pipe was cut into a series of 10 individual cubes, leveled with lasers. Says Simon, "It's hard to do something in a halfpipe that really hasn't been done before... you gotta come up with something creative." http://www.skinet.co...pid=enews060611 It's gonna be hot this week, so I figured a little stoke might help cool you off.
