  1. We have to find a good way to civily fight back perhaps make our own stickers and put them on those stupid white buggies security runs around in.

A could of peeps in Manayunk did that a few years ago, it was hilarious to see Parking Auth. cars with ASSHOLE stickers.

  2. Starting March 31st..spring rates are in effect at Stowe...I'll probably buy a 5-day pass which is $185 vs $350 a week earlier..it's a no brainer..A 6-day is only 19 bucks more at $204..but I might leave a day to ski Mad River Glen...

Shit I didn't realize it was such a steal the five day sounds sweet and I could spend a day at Burke and Magic. Do you have to use them consecutivley?

  3. In the one air picture..the dudes in a snowplow..lol..I'll be up in Northern VT in 3 short weeks..I might have to cruise into Burlington one night after skiing to walk around the UVM campus..and downtown..and maybe see a hip hop show at Higher Ground..

It was his first real attempt and I bet he could give you a run for your money on a Nastar course. :)

    Doesn't Stowe switch over soon?

  4. when u buy a season pass or a lift ticket i believe that they both say that you are not able to sue/bear creek is not responsible if u get hurt on so called objects/park features...it shouldnt matter if park crew fixes them or joe smo does, the person is still taking the risk at their own risk. i think that it would be sick if people could like use the rakes and fix stuff. everything would always be pretty good and you would always have new types of lips from the variety of people doing it. of course there would have to be a system of signing out so people dont just leave or steal them...another idea would be to leave a rake in areas of main features, kinda like at golf courses how they have a rake at like every sand bunker.

Those liability waivers don't mean shit, there is no way bear would let randoms work. The cost increase of insurance would make it more cost effective to just employ more people.

  5. Out West and not BC? Really? Don't forget that I like groomers and that powder kicks my ass. I'm really looking for a mountain with a bunch of long runs on which to cruise all day, a posh ass hotel to lounge in and some decent bars and restaurants close in case we do want to venture out. And money isn't really an issue since this will be "the big 3-0" trip.

Deer Valley sounds like that place for you. They groom like it is their ticket to heaven, long trails that are easy to go fast on and plush accomidations. If you want to step it up a little DV would be ok for that too. DV is in Park City not SLC so there is a ton of stuff to do with really nice resturants and bars. The best part is unlike CO, DV is at most an hour from the airport.

Whistler is a crap shoot, good weather and it can be magical but rain can and does fuck that up alot.

I guess if money isn't and issue look at Euro, St. Anton or Cham would really rock your world and they have realllllllyyyyy long trails. Food and drink are top notch and the hotels can get as fancy as you like.

  6. im liking thisss.... http://www.getboards.com/snow/twintips/armada/arw.html

too bad i have NO money what so ever right now. that is such a sick deal tho. im trying to decide whether i shouled go with 170s or 166s. im on 169s right now.

Wow that is a good price, there is no real difference between this and last year's. I have heard bad things about GetBoards in that they can take forever to ship.

I would go with the 170 unless you aren't planning to get out of the park at all with these. IMO length does not affect spinning as much as it does chatter on the groomers.

  7. I honestly don't see how anybody will pull through this with good conditions. Some places will more than likely be closed down. This is just way to much rain and too heavy. I hope I am wrong, though. I am seriously worried about flooding.

Even Bear will make it through this...stay positive.

  8. yeh what is up with that over there. i have always wondered...they have a couple of those guns like blue has and just a few random piles of snow????

Its a water treatment system, you would be amazed at how many places do this. Sewage water is blown into the woods using the older style guns which require a seperate compressed air hose, the snow melts and the water is filtered by nature, at least theoritically. I was told it was all of the waste water from the whole operation but that sounds insane I would imagine maybe its the "grey" water. I remember a white paper on the possibility of blowing waste water into snow for skiing and the dude said that they could not detect any problems with skiing on crap water. Just don't eat the snow.

Essentially if you have well water or older style water treatment plants this is how you get your drinking water too.

  9. Accuweather is now saying that there could be a major noreaster Friday into Saturday that could dump over a foot of snow. That would help salvage the season. I don't hold much faith in Accuweather, though.

Me neither..... still somewhat boner inducing

the end of skiing in the east is still a long ways off. NOAA in all its wonder has thousands of stations across the country measuring gobs and gobs of info regarding snowpack. One of things they measure is current melting rates and it doesn't look all that bad. Additionally if you switch to station info the snow temp is only bad from VT south excluding the NY highpeaks.

  10. Leaving the area is legal as long as its through an open gate, but once you leave the boundary of the ski area you are considered to be out of bounds. There is no avalance control outside the ski area boundaries. It is an extremely bad idea to ski out of bounds without a tranciever, probe, shovel, a partner, and avalance knowledge. There were actually two seperate accidents last year from skiers without avalanche equipment or knowledge leaving Snowbasin and skiing off the back of the No Name Area (out of bounds). There was one fatality and another guy was burried up to his neck but dug himself out. Here are the reports: http://www.avalanche.org/~uac/Accidents/Ac...n%202-17-07.htm and http://www.avalanche.org/~uac/Accidents/Ac...yon,2-27-07.htm.

    Hahaha really no way!

Seriously though dude just because we are from PA doesn't mean we are larry jongs from NJ ducking ropes to rip the slackcountry. I had AIARE level one two years ago, my cousin has had 1 & 2, WFAC and a WFAR recert. We have toured all over the Wasatch and Uintas, Timp, Grizzly, Wolverine, Cardiac Ridge, NW face of Provo Peak, Red Top and countless others. I have climbed and skied with him since I was 12 and wouldn't think twice to trust him with my life outside of a car of course....dude can't drive for s**t. We take saftey very seriously and as much as anyone really can limit the risks that are involved. Compared to the above Strawberry is a walk in the park, Fantasy in bounds at Solly is far more gnar.

  11. i think im way to big for that unless im going to ski a smaller ski. thats the one thats the girls copy of the juvy right?

100% honest.... to date the only serious advice I have ever given...... get ARWs, I have actually ridden them and they are a blast. Soft like a park ski should be but can still haul ass in the pipe or on groomers. I have three pairs of AR5s which are the older brother of sorts to the ARW and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I hear from time to time some durability issues but I have had no problems, the pair I ride with at Bear alot has probably 150+ days on them including a particular trip to Mt. Washington where I dragged them the last 1/4 mile out. If you buy this years version you can get it cheap like $240 from BC, buy them and never look back.

  12. Huh ? Are you saying the middle of the ski or board sits higher off the ground than the tips ? I think you are talking about camber and that means your boards are totally shit now. There isn't anything you can do about it now either it occurs as a result of the manufacturer making your board during a full moon.

Seriously though every board you have ever owned was probably convential camber, reverse or the partial reverse jobs are mostly thought of to be for pow pow as traditional camber has no real use in pow pow. Some people have brought some reverse camber stuff to the park but the jury is still out if it actually does anything. For pow though they rock, smear turns are wicked fun they do not carve though so Ski look elsewhere.

  13. That chute in the fifth picture is out of bounds and it looks to be a hell of a hike from the top of the Strawberry Gondola.

Maybe your version of a long hike and mine are two different things....and just so you know jackass UT leaving the area is fine long as you stay out of the permanent avy closure areas. I guess the hordes that drop off the back of No Name or Allen's into Ogden and thus leaving the area are traveling "out of bounds"

  14. oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy...and there's still some natural left at Blue from the last storm..maybe the forecast will change and it won't be 50 degrees on Saturday,,,

Remember kids..don't go off piste or the redcoats will get pissed off..

I really hope we get some out of this.

    LOBSTER BACKS!
