  1. Yep. Boulder is easier to open... Either way, I am looking forward to BB opening earlier. I don't think I can go much more than another month. At least next year we'll have Xanadu Meadowlands for riding in July
  2. Could we please ban this guys IP? It's no longer amusing.
  3. Great to hear mark... and it looks like the long range forecast is improving. Looks like next Wednesday there may be enough of a break in the warm weather to make snow again!
  4. Mark.. so were into March now. How much longer do you anticipate staying open up there.. looks like 2 more nights of good snowmaking weather.. then warm conditions for the rest of the week and into next week..
  5. Totally agree about the whole "slow skiing" thing. Its WAYYYYYYYY too much of the mountain. They really, really need to rework that. Bear is too small for what they're trying to do. besides... on some of these slow skiing areas.. if people need to be going that slow, they shouldn't be out in that part anyway. I can see the portion of the mountain immediately next to drifter, but otherwise its overkill. At the same time.. some of those young kids who used to bomb through Drifter on the way to the park are part of the reason why this has happened. They just went overboard.
  6. Funny.. i'm not pissed at all... jumping to conclusions are we? I was over it pretty much the day after. Said my piece, now i'm done. lol, some people on here...
  7. Far from constructive. Start a confrontation on the hill. That would have been sooo smart. Hmm sounds like a bunch of people up at Blue not too long ago, no? We know how good it made those people look.
  8. Made the 1 1/2 hr drive from Reading to SRT today with a friend. She was looking to finally figure out heelside turns, and the Mountain Passport we both got at the beginning of the season provides free lessons all year long. We got there around 330 -- got sidetracked at Buckmans who happens to be having a 2 for 1 sale... Conditions on most of the mountain were packed powder, with some parts of the hill still untouched even that late in the day. Guess SRT doesn't get busy during the weekday? Anyways, there was noticeably not a single patch of ice on the entire mountain, save for the lifts which they could do a lot better job at... those were a bit icy for my taste... The best run to me was Layfayettes Leap.. but I have to say I enjoy the bumps on Fanny Hill. One bad thing was that Fife and Drum was closed, but they are turning it into a huge terrain park and it looks pretty sick for RT. The jumps look similar to the Big Bear run at BC.. and there is a TON of features on the hill.. beside the jump I must of counted at least a dozen and a half.... I think we're going back later in the week.. I wanna check out that park..
  9. Personally, the tone of your post and the name calling and condescension makes you look equally as silly, buy I do digress.
  10. This was the trail right next to Timberline. All I know is that it was a group of maroon jacketed instructors and some gentleman with ski patrol fleece teaching it. And this gentleman KNEW what he was doing. He had to see me since he turned into me. The reason why this thread was started was because it was an INSTRUCTOR who did it. Above all, these people should be following the proper rules of the hill. There's a huge difference between being cut off by a newb (who doesn't know better) and an employee/instructor (who do know better). I wouldn't be starting just any thread for an incident like this. Added to the behavior of some of these folks in this group outside of this stated event (there was more lack of courtesy elsewhere with others), which I haven't even gotten into here, and that was more than enough to bring it up.
  11. to k2: uhhhh the guy was teaching a group of instructors -- he was wearing a black national ski patrol fleece pulover. So he was a patrolman of some sort. I know what instructors/patrollers look like.. don't get so defensive all of a sudden. the instructor was wrong, and there was no "group" ahead of me. Nothing was confusing about what i said at all. The signs at your resort with the "code" say that the person in front of you has the right of way, period. There's really nothing else i can say. That is a huge safety issue and either him or i could have gotten hurt. And you better believe I would have been talking to management if one of their employees was the reason why i was if it would have happened. It's unacceptable. If people are cutting off your kids, then you report them to ski patrol.
  12. Phil I can assure you I had no way of seeing this guy until he came around my front.. I ride goofy so he came up on my right side which i have no way of seeing ("blind spot"). I was with the Dutchmen that night for lessons.. and several of them, including our instructor, witnessed this idiot. It looks even worse on the ski patrol guy who should had said something to this guy about doing something like that..
  13. Yup that too.. which i partially understand cause theyre new. We're talking about a ski patrol guy teaching the ski instructors. Of anybody, they should know better. I was floored that this guy even did it!
  14. I don't know what these folks are teaching their students.. but several times on lower Polar Bear tonight I witnessed these folks cut people off on the way down the trail for whatever lesson program they were doing with Ski Patrol. Hell do it on Kodiak for christs sake, not a narrow trail like that. Plus the guy who came up on my blind side and cut in front of me no more than 2-3 feet ahead of me, your an asshole. It took all i had tonight not to stop and bitch the guy out. Ridiculous. I'm sure you're teaching your students that people ahead of you have the right of way correct? GRRRRR....
  15. I got it on GH Day.. even as a season pass holder... that was pretty cool
  16. Yup. Not cool at all. I have a few BOGOs for weekday tix.. they're extended day. plus i gotta find it but somewhere i have a free ticket for march
  17. The snow was okay... but what do we expect really. 4 straight days of 50 degree weathers gonna foul everything up. Should get better over the weekend.
  18. Looks like they're making some new snow.. thank god!
  19. Either way much of the hill was junk today. Although it seemed like anything to the right side of kodiak was in much better shape.. Cant wait for Friday night when they start making snow again. January spoiled me.
  20. Did they say how it is? conditions look really crappy from the webcam.
  21. So... who wants to take bets on what the real base of Bear Creek is after all this melt and rain. Everybody knows that the base isnt anywhere close to the 37-83" thats been on the condition report for the past two weeks
  22. Um... thats just dumb. They need to work on modernizing their facilities first. You have to give people a reason to pay more or else they'll stop coming. It's a great place, but they need to work on that...
  23. Conditions at BC tonight started out a bit wet and sticky.. but as the snow continued to fall it got more powdery.. looked to be at least 4"+ at BC if not a bit more
  24. InaccuWeather says that. They are all about the onshore storm track.. even though every model now is completely off the coast. The storm would have to track basically over Eastern PA now for you to have a chance at that.. and slow down. Looking at the latest model runs... that doesn't look to be the case. In fact.. a lot are backing off the storm intensity notably. I don't see more than 12" for anybody from this storm from what I'm seeing *at this point*. But its looking more likely that Eastern PA may do well here.
  25. Yeah they did.. thank god i skipped last night.. I'm gonna go up tonight after work though.
