Whens the last time Bear Creek opened before Blue? curious

They were planning to open Sunday. Its not a question of opening cause of snow, its weather. Rain and Ice on Sunday.. would make for shitty opening day weather.. thats the real reason here. I have full faith they will open on Monday.. they have some massive snowpiles from 24 hours of blowing. And unlike the other hills it looks like Bear will open with a lot of the trails ready to go. Looks like they blew just about everywhere. Even timberline looked to have a good half foot at least down. I should add that they shut down the snowmaking on Kodiak around 11 or so tonight. thats a sign that they think they have enough to go with. I even saw the groomers working (at least I thought).

looks like they're making good progress.. wonder if they'll surprise us and open Friday night ... ah one can dream can't they.

Was at BC today picking up my season pass. No waiting in line for me... straight to the hill. It doesn't look bad.. most spots have a solid 3-4". So I don't see any reason other than they'd like to have more snow on the ground for not at least opening for Saturday afternoon/night...

there ya are Mark! I thought you quit.. been checking the manager's blog since like early november and didn't see you posting. That's great news. Looks like you guys might be able to blow for 24 hours straight at least beginning tomorrow night! Guess I better get my season pass awhile. My new coats gonna have to wait hehe PRAYING for a Saturday open! guess blue will have to wait until Sunday

That's not my point, nor my question. Mark last year was giving near daily updates on the goings on at BC even 2-3 weeks before opening day. Was just curious if he was still around since he's much more silent this year.

Anyone know what happened to Mark.. the guy who'd post here and on the mgr's blog? Did he quit or something?

Yeah.. i'm not too confident about Bear getting open anytime soon hike part or not. Tonight is kinda depressing.. temps are not dropping like I thought they would so they probably won't be able to get a real good night of snowmaking in. Thursday night looks like the real first solid day of good snowmaking again. Will they open for the weekend like pretty much everybody else? who knows

Yeah.. really nice conditions and the guns were on.. along with a dusting of the real white stuff that fell for a few hours around 4-7 ish... a lot of the mountain looks real close to opening.. not just Boulder i'd say...

A friend wants to board (he's fresh back from the suck aka Iraq)... anyone heading up today? I'll be in brown plaid pants and a black jacket... i have no clue what my friend will be wearing.. hah but if any of yous see em there say hi I'm praying they opened another trail or two

I am going to *try* to make it.. if i'm there look for the brown plaid 686 pants and black jacket with black beanie and oakley googles... i have a black board with I <3 haters on it hard to miss me.. would be nice to be some PASR's STOKE LEVEL IS ON HIGH...

They are blowin yet again. Go boulder go.

It was close but I don't think so... they were saying that if they opened the week before thanksgiving.. but we had that warm up which prevented snowmaking. I'm just looking at the forecasts and its just depressing. It's not looking all too good but.. It looks like snowmaking will be possible Friday-Tuesday before a warmup, although the ass end could be 24-hour snowmakin..some natural stuff then maybe thursday, and another day of snowmaking before another warmup again. If that holds true BC should be open by next week.. and they'll just have to take advantage of what time they'll have. Obviously they want to open up as badly as we want them to. The longer they have to wait, the less profits. And from what I heard.. they did VERY well last year.

It's tough so far.. definitely not like last year. Hopefully within the next week or two.

Somebody will be open by next weekend.. and I'm pretty sure most by the following weekend. So guys we're not too far off The pattern is favorable for colder weather following the passage of this next system midweek.

hehe .. how many good snowmaking nights do they need to open? 3? 4?

I'm looking at long range forecasts, and temperatures look to be favorable for snowmaking as early as next week. 3" in Lake Harmony as of 4pm yesterday. Its been snowing since then so id guess they would have gotten another inch or two since then. So yes, Big Boulder is white right now And at least a few more inches in the forecast over the next day or two it looks like. A shame that by next thursday its supposed to be up in the 60s
