  1. I would really like to hit up the springs or the knob. It might be simaliar in distance just go to north to better mountains but I'd still like to try out western pa terrain just to say I did it and it looks like a great time.
  2. Which brings me to my next question. Anyone that has been to the springs how does it compare to eastern pa resorts? It has just about double the skiable acreage than most eastern hills and more glades which are naturally blanketed with snow... Bastards. Only thing that's similar in comparison is vert.
  3. True, banks also can give discount tickets. My bank gives out discount tickets to blue, camelback, jfbb for winter sports. Many credit union banks give a lot of discount tickets away for a different array of places. Nice perks for being a member, wouldn't never bank at at corporate bank ever again. Corporate banks suck and just take your money ha. But back on topic if anyone banks with a credit union check in to discounted tickets.
  4. That would be the point of it but 70% of the time when it does work it's pointed at the ground wtf? Guess they wanted to show how well their new mower cuts grass. Last year was kinda similar there is a thred somewhere that pasrs were complaining that the camera was pointed at tubing for weeks on end. Few days before opening someone moved it up the mountain to view the main st area.
  5. To give an example a single RFID scanner in the valley cost $250.000. Wouldn't doubt that they spent 4.0 million on improvements/upgrades over the summer. Go Blue! Now the groomers just have to get the concept down on how to properly groom and this "resort" can be top dog in PA. How many bets the first day will be a repeat of last season... Dodging baseball to basketball size death cookies when you are trying to lay down a serious run on main st
  6. When i get more info i'll report it.... But I won't be going up again till the 10th. First day of shred season for Blue the True. Btw all of Main St, Midway, Vista had pretty decent snow pack....for only two nights of blowing... no pun intended .
  7. As long as there isn't a freak heat wave next week we will be open on the 10th.
  8. Orientation was Today. Good news. December 20th is the date for rfid scanners for vista, main st, burma. They preinstalled mounting blocks and all wires already and are waiting on the units. Until then tickets will be hand scanned. VIP lines at the quad and six pack will be its own line to the right side of the rfid scanners and VIP will be scanned via hand scanner all year long. You still CANNOT punch a hole in the pass.... you can get an arm band or necklace with a clear plastic case to put your pass in, if you do not want that you can still just stick it in a pocket... however it HAS to be in a pocket different than a cell phone. A cell phone send out signals that will mix with the signal the scanners put out and it will not read the pass. its been shown and proven. blues 10 year plan consist of new trails on the east side of paradise with 2 to 3 new lift plans to access those trails... those words were out of Jim's mouth himself to everyone that was at the orientation. Blue will open on December 10th. P.S. no 730 opening.
  9. There was snow making allllll night and stopped around 10am. Opening is December 10th
  10. only for main st burma vista lifts. it is possible to scan them from inside the coat pocket/pants pocket. but its more efficent if they are scanned in direct contact and not being covered behind layers. the frequency on the quad and six pack scanners are a lot more powerful than the hand held scanners are. they can scan your pass from the inside of your anus if need be thats why you can keep the pass consealed for the quad and six pack scanners. so to clarify. quad and six pack keep consealed main st burma vista CAN be kept consealed BUT wont scan very efficently if it is consealed so it is much more efficent if it is out in the open to be scanned.
  11. handstamp? didnt get much clairification on that one. ill ask more next week when i go up for cross training. yeah you cant punch a hole in it either so attaching it to a body part is a no go. i guess we will all find out eventually how this new program will work and how well/bad it will work. i hope there is a better way then to pull it out of a pocket but it dosent look good. but you know what if thats the case it really wont matter much for us cause 99.9% of the time we use the quad and six pack. okay let me rephrase that 99.9% of the time we use the six pack
  12. on the whole passes deal there will be 1 to 2 people scanning tickets the handheld way like the previous years but at the main st burma vista lifts with an extra 1 to 2 back ups just incase an unruly customer gets uneasy. i know people are going to complain about having to take the pass out of their pocket. you can scan the pass inside the clothing but you have to be no more than 6 inches away from the area the pass is in and even then it dosent work properly its really unreliable doing it that way. the company that makes the scanner says it should work up to 12 inches away but clearly it dosent work that far..... go figure. pass has to be out to be scanned if everyone wants fast process thru the main st burma vista lifts. scanners will give info on vertical, which lifts you take the most, times youve been scanned, total time spent at blue mountain from first to last scan, last time youve visited the mountain, full name and contact info etc. lots of details. vip line will be off to the left of the scanners like previous years. they will be worked by hand stamp... now dont quote me on that but it sure sounds like thats what dave said..... sounds weird. figured a hand scanner would be sufficent for vip. to answere questions on the whole situation of friends giving friends passes because of the rfid crap.... im sure people will try it but they will fail if that person decides to take a lift that requires the pass to be removed from a pocket to be scanned. im not sure if i am forgetting anything else i think i covered much of it.
  13. I saw Ray's 3 times all season long... And everytime I was it is was up by old Raceway Vista Lift Easy Out interchange in front of the Ski Patrol/First aid building.... Even though they still have it listed it's location at the top of the Quad..... Whatever. Barbs Booze on Boardz would be nice but ya can't beat a 60 oz camelpack full of Redbull & Jager
  14. Opening end of November....... I'll believe it when I see it. Wasn't their earliest opening ever three years ago? I thought they opened something like middle of november. Hate when you search for blue mountain ski area more search results come up for blue mountain resort in ontario.
  15. went up to blue yesterday to look at their "improvements" nice... not to bad! the ticket scanners at comet and challenge chair are rfid, talked to heidi about them and they are just standard scanners they dont keep skiing information like other mountains have they are set up about 30 feet from the lift corrals. i cant wait to see how they operate this. finally got in the summit lodge! since the job fair is only one day away people were finally in the office!!! wow. changes in the main lodge are new carpeting! the whole lodge first and second floor. guess 12 years was long enough for the last carpet. still have the 80's cafeteria food ordering area. the caf was still set up for a wedding reception it looked really nice they should always keep it that way. ha. I pulled the curtain away and wow the courtyard looks great! if you wouldnt have been to the resort in two years you wouldnt know the place anymore couldnt snap any pictures cause construction workers were all over the place up stairs and i shouldnt have been up stairs technically. the new ticket area is great. the whole wall is nothing but a ticket kiosk. now ALL they have to do is either destroy the lodge in the valley if you want to even call it a lodge or start putting some money in to that place... at least give it an actual floor besides the open boards junk look. i got no information about the "glade trails" i forgot about asking heidi about them. EDIT: they bought new lockers in the summit. they look very interesting to say the least.
  16. thats the extent of blue mountains technology
  17. hahaha and the sad thing is the fisrt pic is the quad... the six pack line is most likely to the lodge. can we say 1 1/2 wait time...... to ski a lousy 4 min run if you take your time to wait in line again for another 1 1/2 hours...... said enough. screw holidays. I can point out at least 15 gapers in the last pic.
  18. I have a job, just looks like i wont be scanning tickets anymore..... ill have to talk to dave on thursday.... no one says anything until its too late, they just play stupid and will say "oh well these are new, and they will be taking over your position from previous years." now all these extra scan guns they will have laying around.... oh lets see about a total of 20. they should use some and put two people up at sidewinder and keep the gapers and family living out of the park.
  19. On major holidays dave had one to two people at evey lift and the normal summit and valley scanners scanning tickets to catch the people who would like you said buy a morning ticket and stay all day and this would weed out those people. a normal day that there werent 10,000 people at the resort at any given time dave jim and barb didnt think there was no reason to tag people at the lifts. these new ticket machines will be the best thing for blue... it will cause problems for the begining of the season until the locals get use to the whole ordeal. the outa staters and holiday gapers will really clog things up during holidays and those will be days worth dreading to see. but all in all it will be worth it in the long run.
  20. im no where near a rep for blue lol but im just explaining to my best knowledge. since its my department i can hopefully weed out any answeres and concern.
  21. Well that puts me out of a job wtf. No need for personel scanning tickets with a gun. Awesome all Security will be doing now is board and ski check. If anyone expects to hit the slopes more than 10 minutes before the ticket time they will be ejected from line till its the exact time..... but customers dont know that the ticket is good up to 10 minutes early.... if you have an expired ticket you will be ejected from line and sent back in to the valley or summit and will have to buy a valid ticket. it;s just weeding out the human error that goes on... even though the human error that does occur is wont harm blue anyway possible and wont cost the resort a fraction of anything. they just want to be strictly anal about every little detal in the future and rid of all most possible human error.
  22. 300M are junk pre 2000 to 2004. You can pick one up in the range of $8,000 Now if you are talking about the 300C, that's a different story.... But they aren't even going to break 35k unless you buy the Hemi or SRT8 Model. But back to the subject i've never heard abour nor seen anyone your talking about....... Oh wait now that I think about it some more I do remember seeing a 300M beige in color if I remember clearly always parked in the upper employee lot all the time. I don't know who drives it though.
  23. HOORAY!!Now I can finally talk to someone that matters..... Denise is never in her damn office..... Doing "security" i was making 6.25. Lifties are one of the lesser paid. Housekeeping makes over 7 an hour but you have to clean up shit... literally. Besides Management/Supervisor Housekeeping I think is the higest paid. But honestly anyone that works there for the money has a few loose screws and there were a few..... alot that actually never skiied or boarded a day in their lives..... They are there for the money
