  3. I am a Resort Management Major. I absoutly love the program. It is a 3 year (tri-mester) program. Here is more information on the program... a better web-site is on the way! http://www.greenmtn.edu/academics/aos_sites/rhm/index.asp Decent grades (c's-b's), and even worse sat's. So don't worry too much.

  7. My former job at Shawnee Mountain is up for grabs. Shawnee is looking for an assistant manager for their terrain parks this upcoming season. Job duties include layout input, building, day to day maintenance, contest setup, etc... all applicants must be over 18 years of age. THIS IS A FULL TIME JOB!!! please contact Adam Deangelo at adeangelo@shawneemt.com for more info. PS I loved this job. The people at Shawnee are great (yet sometimes cranky jk lol). Just be ready to devote your entire winter to hard work, and a lot of man hours. Helping with Park is no easy task, but it can be the greatest job ever for those who can be devoted to it. Goodluck!
  8. I'm finally up here at killington going to school... im already in the parks dept and im gonna start work in about a few weeks to fix up boxes/rails... once the season gets underway ill be spending time in the cat groomin the parks at night from 4pm-12am and shredin all day... i love this life1
  9. not to much worry here lol i leave for vermont wednesday... just havin a little fun.
  10. it seems that all they need is a groomer with a park building background. all a park truly needs is good setups, nice flow, and the ability to service all ability levels. from what ive been told the parks setups have not been the very best they could be and it limits the potential of their park. two parks is a good start and a park pass system should be a welcomed one... it will help elevate the skill level of features for more advanced riders while teaching more inexperienced the how too's and introduce them to the "easy style" program. sounds like CB has starting taking steps in the right direction. all i can say at this point to CB is good luck and keep an open mind for your riders/skiers opinions, they pay the bills.
  11. Any word on the rail jam? is it still gonna happen?!
  12. I'd love an all park mountian that features bump trails, freestly mogul skiing, pipes, bordercross... the works. oh yea and jibs jumps and more jibs.
  13. Keep in mind guys location is a huge factor. Bear Mountain, Echo, Boreal, are all either larger mountains with ample amounts of snowfall/snomaking, or are located near major population areas. The East Coast has never been fully geared to parks as much as mountains out west have. I believe in the future within the next 5-10 years terrain parks will be more mainstream than ever before and even more important to resorts. Once slopestyle enters lets say a olympic event (and it will) I'm sure we will see a transition from resorts having a park for marketing purposes, to a resort needing a high calibur park to stay a float. Think about it, you even see that some places now. Now a resort with a good park can compete with the best vert. resorts. (ie mountain creek) Give it time and you will see an all mountain terrain park pop up in the mid-atlantic region. But not for a couple of years.
  14. Hey dude I'll be up there tommorow too... Me my lil bro and a good friend of mine from shawnee will be shreddin all day as well. I have no idea what ill be wearin but look for a group of four and a kid with a dominant. Its soo funny too... its actually thundering out right now, pretty bad 2 lol

  16. any info on hunters park..... anyone? lol
  17. How is thier park looking?
  18. Well, I'd have the best jibs on the east coast... with multiple parks aimed at education and progression. An entry level beginner, beginner, intermediate, and an advanced park which would require a park pass. Included in the advanced section would be a progressive jib park with some personal touches... lets just say you would find many "normal" as well as "unusual" new park features, that I thought of this year. Crisp, Clean, and Professional. And whole new marketing to the park program on a national level. Mich like creek and intrawest. By far the best parks south of VT. I just donno about the vert, I have never been there before. Thats why i'd hold off on saying best in the east lol. God I am pathetic, one track mind lol
  19. Is this debate still going on? good Lord haha, park passes will be the standard in a few years... yes parkbuilder said it, it must be true lol
  20. haha I guess you have never been there... ... just playin!
  21. Okay... I guess its time for me to weigh in on this subject. First and foremost I must say that after my experience this year working for a resort, that a park pass should be used for any resorts main park. I believe that at least two parks should be managed correctly to give the guest a wide range of ability levels in park riding. One park for entry level and intermediate guests with no pass requirement, and an advanced level park which would require the pass. I need to be honest that the $5 is cheap compared to a $12 chickenfingers and a soda... (dollar menu holla!) But seriously I have witnessed some of the worst accidents and problems that at least 75%-80% of the time was cause by inexperience, lack of education, and etiquette. At stratton injuries and accidents dropped 60%... over half of the injuries from the previous year ceased to exist. Its not that we want to turn away people from coming into the park, I am dead against that. But this is a necessary step to insure the proper education and understanding of park etiquette. Beginners are the pros of the tomorrow and the future guests in terrain parks at resorts. When their ability is ready they can enjoy an advanced park safely with other users... and we won't have the same issues year after year. Thanks for a great season guys!
