    Elan El Grande

So I'm a big footed mofo with size 15s. I'm looking for a new board. I googled widest snowboard and came up with the elan el grande. Does anyone have an opinion on this board? I am a little apprehensive about it because it has a different sidecut. I am looking for a board the is predominantly for freeriding, but doesnt suck in the park like my current board. I am 6'4", 180. My current board is a 167 and is pretty wide. It is a rad air tanker, not the most common board, but a guy I used to know knew a rep for them and he got me a good deal then. Anyway, I f anyone can help me with some guidance on a decent board, lemme know.
  2. I have size 15 feet, I'm probably gonna start lookin at new boards soon. Anyone know any boards that are super wide. I was looking at the forum raider, it's pretty wide.
  3. I don't know it you're going to the upper part of michigan or not, but Mt. Bohemia looks fun. They have 900ft of vert, All diamond trails, they beat up a gaper in their advertisement on their website, all natural lake effect snow. I would like to go there some day. Then again you are probably looking for a park, which does not exist here. Mt. Bohemia
  4. They're gonna need to make a ton tonight if they want to stay open...temps aren't lookin too good this week
  5. Yeah...if I had the opportunity to be skiing this weekend I'd be headed somewhere with more than 20' of vert and a 3" base. Unless of course I was stuck in PA and could only get to the grassy snowcone that boulder is gonna have this weekend
  6. Two North Carolina hills opened today...Cataloochee and Sugar Mtn Why wait til this weekend to go to Vermont when you can go to NC right now! Cataloochee Sugar Mtn
  7. The ponds are filled with groundwater and runoff from snow melt and other sheet flow from parking lots, etc. If they drew water from that stream for snowmaking, it would be dry downstream from the intake just about as soon as they turn the pumps on.
  8. Yeah my spring break is the first week of March so its really not spring.
  9. Thanks for the in depth comparison Papasteeze. Its really up to my friend's family because its a trip for his dad's retirement, but Im stoked to go to either one really. I don't know when my next chance to go out west will be so I want to make it as worthwhile as possible, thats why I put my vote in for Jackson Hole. Im sure either one will be awesome in the end.
  10. Doug, for the Casper Bowl part of the mountain and other parts like that that aren't lift accessible, but still in bounds, it says access through gates only on the trail map. Does that mean that to hike up there you need avalanche gear and stuff, or can you just hike up there?
  11. Thanks Doug, thats all the info I was really looking for. About Corbets, I was watching videos of it and it looks ridiculous when ther's not much snow. I could see doing it if there was a really deep base with a short drop in, otherwise it just looks too risky.
  12. No don't get me wrong, I'm definately not going there for park, I was just wondering if they had anything that was worth a run or two. Im really stoked about JH, I've never been out west before. Im looking forward to the big bowls and trees. Has anyone here ever dropped into Corbets, that thing looks pretty insane?
  13. What's the park like at Jackson Hole? I'm sure I'll be plenty occupied by the regular terrain, but Im interested in catching some air every once in a while.
  14. So my friend and I have the opportunity to go out west for spring break this year. Neither of us have been out there yet. We are both competent snowboarders so challenging terrain is appealing. So far, Jackson Hole seems to be the more appealing of the two, with more snow, tougher terrain, and more vert, plus how much Doug raves about it. So basically I'm looking for opinions from people who have been to both or either resort. Thanks for helpin me out.
  15. No way man cb has nothing on elk How many times have you been to Elk TP4? Maybe you just hit it on a bad day...Every time I've been there, the snow has been phenomenal compared to CB and Blue.
  16. Loveland was once again the first to start up their guns in North America...
  17. that update is so new it doesn't even exist yet...o snap
  18. So I come home from college on May 6, does anybody think that there will still be snow to ride on the east coast then with all of this spring snow? I think its possible, I know Killington has their closing date as May right now. Im just looking for some other opinions here...
  19. I've never met anyone, but I think I was behind Doug and Jeff in line for the Six Pack on Friday afternoon... thats close to meeting someone
  20. Are your kids homeschooled Papa...they seem pretty busy
  21. In case any of you missed it, I posted about this same problem about a month ago, and Craig blew it off saying it didnt happen last year... Others of you tried to justify it by saying the wind must have caused it... For the record now, CB is becoming the sketchiest operator around... Last year I was told it wasn't enough lifties, now I am told it wasn't enough people... People are paying to ride the entire mountain fellas, not half of it... If somebody placed this is an editorial, there would probably be some huge fallout... When did company's start not taking care of their loyal customer base and just start counting on those willing to pay crazy prices for tickets? Blue has its heart in the right place... Additionally, don't tell us on the website that 33 trails are open if they aren't going to be... Be truthful with us...

Give us some good news Craig!!! I know you dont care too much about the competition, but Blue is farther South than you, and they are opening 6 more trails tomorrow... Unfortunately, the slow rate of snowmaking and trail openings at Camelback may force me to Blue next year
  23. When you say moving to the East during the day, does that mean that we will have new terrain by tomorrow? If you only have a set snowmaking capacitiy and are moving on to new trails, can we assume that snowmaking on the west side on additional terrain is complete?
