With all of the warm weather, but cold weather apparently here to stay, will Camelback be trying to open the East Side when coverage on the west side is adequate? I would guess so since President's Day Week is one of the busiest on the year, but I do not have the insider information. Additionally, if the East Side does open this year, have enough people been hird to keep it open? The East Side is some of the best terrain Camelback has, and on many occasions last year when I was there, the East Side was shut down due to inadequate lift operators. Please Clear this Up!!!

I'm going up to Okemo next week. I've never been there. Anybody have anything to say about it ie good, bad? They have 32 trails open right now and I'm pretty stoked.

Its posted on their website now that they are opening on Friday.

Whats up with the "course with brush gates" they are talking about? Never heard that one before. I'm picturing a glade with randomly placed shrubs. Maybe different sizes to get sort of a '2 level effect'.

Pics Theres some new pics of the pipe construction going on at Camelback now. Looks pretty nice so far. It says 13.5' walls which is 2 feet more than I had heard it was going to be.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't CB just announce a couple weeks ago that they are building a new pipe?

Elk's way of keeping up without the snowmaking power is to have excellent grooming. They groom the heck out of their trails and it shows in the final product. On the subject of their park, they have a few rails set up right now, a flat rail, rainbow, and a rail that just looked like a peice of metal laying in the snow. Their jumps though are beauiful. There is a massive three option jump with different vert options on the takeoff and different landing distances. The one in the middle has a really long flat area before the landing and is near impossible to clear because there isn't much room in the park to get speed. My buddy and I had to start outside of the park to get speed to clear the jumps. Other than the speed issue, the jumps were beautiful. Right after that there is a nice hip setup that was fun to hit after the big tabletops. Elk's park is fun if you only like to dabble in the park a little bit, it's not intended to be the best park around or anything. The snow quality is incredible though, I rode all day and never even saw an ice patch. First tracks were snowgasm inducing, beautiful corduroy on every trail. I love elk, if you dont mind the slow lifts and the second rate park, the place can't be beat in terms of snow conditions and trail quality. It so much fun to go on banks and in between trees. Where te lehigh and delaware trails intersect, there was even a fun little ledge to drop off of into untouched (well at least before we got there) natural powder.

I dunno, I was at Elk today so it definately isn't closed anymore. I didn't hear anything about it being closed yesterday either.

Elk has new pics of the lift and the park area on their site. It looks like its a tow, for some reason I was imagining a carpet lift. They also said that their park is gonna open this weekend.

Soooo...any guesses on when they'll open up the nile. I hope it'll be open by next weekend, any thoughts?

Yeah... so apparently this was all some kind of cruel joke played on me, my bad.

Yeah, I am gonna try to head up and hit it when they open between 7:30 and 8... When does it usually start getting busy? I will probably leave around 12 or 1, so hopefully the lines wont be too bad... Also, for those who ventured out, how were the conditions?

I wouldn't think Elk is a goner yet, give them some time to sort things out. Hopefully they will be back before I was planning on heading up there around X-mas

So....according to their phone, Elk had to declare bankruptcy and their opening is postponed until they can refinance. That sucks...i was looking forward to riding elk pretty soon.
