  1. So this applies to all 2-1/2 ski areas in NJ? Was it even worth the time? It is a good idea. There's no reason for children not to wear helmets. Adults should of course have the choice, even though they're dumb if they don't wear them.
  2. Yea I can't take credit for that one, it's the slogan on their website.... hence the sarcastic minus 1000' of vert
  3. I'm 78% Elk at this point. Like PA Ridge Racer said, I'm already driving an hour and a half anyway, whats another 40 minutes. It's totally worth not having to deal with the mad crowds. I can't believe so many of you haven't been to elk...... its like Vermont without the drive........ and like 1000' of vert
  4. I'm a big fan of backwoods ski areas. I like the feel of an empty mountain. For instance, a few years ago I went to Killington and did a day at Pico. I had a lot more fun over at Pico because the place was empty. I'm also a big fan of Gore up in the Adirondacks. Last season I found my main reason for leaving the mountain by 11:00am wasn't because I was tired of skiing, it was because I didn't feel like dealing with all of the people and the long lift lines. To me, there's a lot of value in having the place not be crowded.
  5. It takes me 1:30 to get to Blue or CB and 2:20 to get to elk. As far as the pass being worth it, I go once a weekend plus several other days throughout the season. I'm not as concerned about the pass paying for itself, I'm planning on racking up at least 15 days this season. I'm basically trying to determine if the terrain is worth the extra drive time
  6. Day tripping, but only once a weekend.
  7. I love Elk. It's obviously the best mountain in PA not considering park. I'm seriously considering getting a pass there this year. I live in Warminster and last year I had a pass at CB. I would go up on Saturdays and get there for opening at 7:30. It took me and hour and a half to get there. It looks like Elk would be about 45 min further. I don't really mind the extra drive. I'm leaning toward doing Elk. I can't seem to find a real downside other than the longer drive. It is a bit more expensive, but I think it's worth it. I just found myself getting kinda bored with CB by the end of the season last year. I was thinking about getting a pass at Blue this year to change things up, but I can easily see myself getting bored there faster than CB. Plus I'd have to deal with all of those crazy Blue passholders clogging up the VIP line. If anyone has any opinions or has experience having a pass at Elk when you're a little over 2 hours away, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

There's a blob at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem. They also have some big icebergs you can jump off of and some other fun stuff. The place is pretty sweet. Their Site
  10. It was a great last day for the season. Solid mid winter conditions. It was nice finally meeting some people from PASR. As I told Root and Justo, I'm probably gonna get a pass to Blue next year. I look forward to skiing with the Blue Crew next year.
  11. RideDelaware and I are going to head up for the day. Should be my last day of the season.
  12. I think three posts is a little excessive opie....most people use the view new content feature so they don't have to check the individual forums...but no, I don't know anything about camping near CB....you could always camp out inside one of the tube slides.
  13. I'm headed up to Camelback right now if anyone's headed up there. I'm wearing a black jacket brown pants and orange goggles
  14. Think there's gonna be anything good left in the morning?
  15. Dude it was windy as fuck and they were both open by 10:30 anyway.... Hitching about that is really lame
  16. It's actually nice that they changed Nile mile to a blue.... It keeps the trail much less crowded.... It's a good trail but certainly not a true blue
  17. something fun I saw at killington once was a barrel on it side (or one of those pieces of fat corrugated pipe) on top of a pile of snow maybe 5 or 6 ft with a quarter pipe style transition on either side. You could do stalls and stuff on the pipe or even air up and over it. It was a ton of fun and didn't require the speed you need to clear the jump that's there now.
  18. The jump at the start of lower moore's ramble isn't a great spot for a jump IMO. It's tough to get any speed to hit it with, especially if you hit any of the preceding features. It's also sort of on a turn as you come down to it. Dropping in off the quarter pipe at the bottom of Oak Grove to get speed kinda works, but then you have to cut straight across the trail. If it were me, I'd get rid of that jump and put in a medium sized hip or a rail or box or something. It's just tough to come through there with the speed needed to clear that jump.
  19. yea us cbk passholders are in the minority around here... It seems that GSS and the blue crew make up the biggest group.... And with GSS blue is certainly represented with the most posts.
  20. It wouldn't be a problem if the Glenn lift wasn't so damn slow. The idea of a dedicated lift is great... the idea of a dedicated slow piece of shit lift sucks.
  21. Yeah.... what he said......especially about the park passes.... it's a pain in the arse riding the slow ass glenn lift up there
  22. I never realized how harsh R2 is...dang.... ....I've tended to adopt GSS's snow nomenclature things like mad sweet 'n low, mashed potatoes, etc....it works pretty well
  23. Yeah theres some great tree skiing at Pico. I would actually rather go to Pico than Killington
