  1. i know that situation. my wife got back into skiing while we dated. i bought her some beginner atomics after we got married. she kept those for a season, then she stepped up to a mid-range volkl. she skiing skills picked up tremendously once she had her own equipment and spent time on the hill. it's really amazing how much having your own stuff makes a difference. just keep it fun on the hill and she'll (more than likely) stick with it
  2. i didn't think it was all that crowded when i was there at lunch time. it'll def pick up tonite and as the week goes on
  3. just got back. i was at the KOP location and there was a few people there checking stuff out. i'm sure it's gonna pick up when me and the wifey go there tonite....gotta love the mob-scene shopping
  4. i guess we were just expecting to see everything ready to go, ya know? anyhow, i'm still going to get the early bird passes regardless.....it would just be nice to be able to take advantage of the PASR group rate as well.....
  5. dropped some consignment stuff off at buckmans last nite for the tent sale. now i'm heading over there to drop off my skis for their pre-season tune and binding check. i can feel the snow coming
  6. just checked this morning and the prices still haven't changed.....
  7. I'm @west point, ny for a couple of days (for work). There's no fall colors up here...I feel kinda robbed... :\ at least it's cold at nite up here..
  8. we went to windham last april, great times there. the dude at the demo shop there said they try to open up for thanksgiving, so i've had windham (and hunter) in the back of mind for quite some time....
  9. we were driving back from the in-laws in ohio last nite and it was def cold in the mtns along the turnpike (mid-30's). not sure if i'm gonna be able to do any skiing anywhere this month, but i'm really hoping for some turkey-day turns
  10. but here's the question: where can they expand? do we know how much land blue mtn actually owns? i suppose they could expand down the south side of the ridge, but i doubt they could get much snow/ice to stick there. also, i guess they could expand east-ward off the quad. thoughts??
  11. wow...looks nice. although it would have been nicer of them to take that $$ and use it to open up more glades on the mtn.
  12. wore my patagonia nano-puff jacket this AM. good times
  13. forcasted low temp for philly tomorrow is 46* !! can i take out my window a/c units now??

    bit of an update

i think it was only $5.
  15. well, that's one of the places i'll be hitting up locally. the big driver for getting the pass at bc is my wife: she's planning to take some classes there....so it makes sense financially to get the early-bird off peak pass. also, bc is less than an hour from my office...so i can go knock out a few turns there instead of spring mtn. blue mtn is just a little too far to do after work during the week w/o taking time off.
  16. finally getting into the low 50's at nite in the philly burbs. may need to start thinking about putting on the heavier blankets at nite
  17. well, for starters any of the trails at blue are at least twice as long as jack frost's. switchback, while not very steep, winds nicely down the mountain and it quite an interesting trail. i'll give you the glades: jack frost hands down has better tree skiing than blue....but at least blue mtn has finally started to open up the trees. don't get me wrong, i like jack frost....but most of the trails are all the same; short, straight, have short drops and long run-outs. at least at blue you get nice like runs at a descent pitch.

    bit of an update

dude, you owe it to yourself to make it a point to ski outside of PA. at bare minimum you should hit up the catskills. it's an easy ride up there (approx 3.5 to 4 hrs, depending on traffic). it's a lot easier and more affordable than you might think
  19. will the discount include the off-peak season pass??

    bit of an update

ya, i'm just gonna have to disagree with you on this one. elk mtn is consistently ranked in SKI mag's top 10 eastern resorts for snow quality. i don't recall any other PA resort being able to stake that claim....
