skimom Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 There appears to be something wrong with his pole plant. It looks backwards to me.
Papasteeze Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Hmmm.. Looks like he is marking his inside turn however, it also looks like he is "flicking" the turn not planting. I think we should send him to MSRT guys and see what they think.
skimom Posted April 5, 2005 Author Report Posted April 5, 2005 Yeah, it's hard to tell if he's using the waist steering technique, since he doesn't have a waist...
Papasteeze Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 He/she does initiate their turns early, thats good, right? But what's with the parallel transition next to the gate? Must have something to do with a high center of gravity.
NJSkiFamily Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Skimom, I think you're right. The plants are backwards. Have any of you heard this technique about pole planting - "step on Barney's toe and punch him in the stomach". Barney being the purple dinosaur. The idea is that you plant the pole down with one hand and then push out with the other hand to initiate the next plant. I learned that in VT when I was learning to ski the bumps.
ThinkSnow Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 There appears to be something wrong with his pole plant. It looks backwards to me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow... usually it's the young'ens we have to worry about posting useless topics
skimom Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Wow, dis'ed by ThinkSnow. It's not useless. It reminded me of a ski instructor/coach I know (her resort will remain nameless) who disliked one of her students so she taught him to pole plant with the uphill pole like this guy does. To this day he still can't pole plant properly - it really messed him up. Punching Barney...ok, I'll try it.
skigurl Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 after he plants he drops his hands....thats a no no
skiergirl Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 yeah someone needs to teach that little guy how to ski properly, or at least pole plant the right direction
NJSkiFamily Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 We adults are just using this example as a learning opportunity for you young 'ens.
Glenn Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I tried to tell you Greg, this emoticon was a bad idea, but NOOOOO everyone thought it was SOOOOO cute. Now were stuck with obsessive skiers with no snow posting about the technique of a 96 x 96 px animation.
Timeless Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I tried to tell you Greg, this emoticon was a bad idea, but NOOOOO everyone thought it was SOOOOO cute. skidude Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Not sure about the old peeps, but there pretty good to take out boarders with
tretiak Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 or when i find poles on the ground i pop people ouyt of there bindings
skidude Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Not me...Got my bindings cranked too far down for someone to pop me out
AtomicSkier Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Not me...Got my bindings cranked too far down for someone to pop me out uhh, he was talking about pressing the release thing...regardless of how hard you have it cranked down, it has to still work, or else, how would YOU get out? Or do you walk around everywhere you go with your skis?
skidude Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Haha well since I'm always in the backseat it is VERY hard to get me out of my skis when I am standing in them. When I am trying to get out and lean foward they come off pretty easily

skimom Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Or do you walk around everywhere you go with your skis? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He walks around everywhere he goes with his skis on.
poconoceancity Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I could be wrong, but skimom was probably just bored at work when she decided to analyze emoticon
Schif Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 What else is there to do without any snow around?
