Another groundhog bluebird country club skiing day.  In the 20’s to start on squeaky snow and all of 7 sliders and 10 workers in the lodge, 8 of which were sleeping by the fireplace or twiddling their phones.  Nobody talks to one another anymore, even the couples are sitting together looking at their phones.  Thanks Steve Jobs for killing social interaction as we knew it.  At least there are still people willing to chat on the lift ride up…

Totally Western groomer day as any moguls were old and firm.  Mostly just did a tour of the mountain, hitting some new trails that were groomed that I was never on, all of which were wicked fast.

On one, a girl was sitting in the middle of the run at the top of a lip.  Being off to the side I slowed to see what was on the other side.  A field of brush was poking through the snow.  From experience, I know not to go through them as some can be thick and will grab a ski.  I figured she was looking for a way around.  I went down the bumps and back onto the trail below to find her skis in the middle of the run.  I grabbed he skis to put off to the side and looked up to see her sliding down the run on her ass.  She said she fell at the top and her skis went on without her.

Really need this weather pattern to change, big time!!

It just amazes me how the snow holds up, guess it's just the total lack of humidity and cold up in the mountains and no real thaw/freeze/thaw/freeze cycles.

Rode the lift with a guy that I've rode with before and we got talking about East coast weather and conditions.
He was going on about having skied out there and how it's real ice, not like around here.  Said it makes good skiers.
Then he asked if I had ever skied the East...

Indiggio we're looking at negative temperatures for the next week. New snow or not, I’d take your sunshine and western groomers, with BCC / LCC views any day over this pile of shit. You, sir, are blessed. Enjoy it!

Yeah, people tell me to stop complaining about not getting snow, that I have the best of both worlds: good snow in the mountains, nothing to shovel in the valley.

I just can't get it in my brain that it's the dead of winter and groundhog bluebird days...

Still could use a few storms in the mountains at least!
