  1. A couple of inches of fresh powder. Not too crowded yet.
  2. Hope for a lot of snow tomorrow.
  3. Up for a couple hours late morning. Conditions very good. Blew a lot of snow on Challenge and the rocks in the glade are pretty well covered. Didn't groom Challenge slope so the run was nice and soft. Still holding up well when we left at noon. Also blew a lot of snow on Exhibition bumps. Nice and soft, although the flat sections are getting a little washed out, as can be expected. A fair amount of people trying the bumps with less if a crowd watching from the lift. Nice to have the variety available. Radio station day on Friday and junior race on Saturday which will close Challenge and probably the glade.
  4. Floyds was nice, the race kids were at Elk for a race, so things were pretty quiet until the rentals started coming over later in the morning. Always some amusing antics viewed from the chairlift.
  5. After a crowded radio station day on Friday, decided to skip Saturday and hit the slopes early Sunday. A pretty nice day, not too windy, not too cold, and the sun tried to come out a few times - a couple of inches new snow. Slopes were in good shape, although the base is getting a little low. The bumps on Exhibition were seeing a lot of action, and the bumps right side of Challenge were groomed out, making more room when the racers have the practice gates set up on the left. Challenge glade was pretty iffy - nice snow in spots, but a lot of rocks starting to push up. Got a few dings on my edges to work on. One park has some huge jumps - the amount of snow there should last until July. Saw JFSkiDan and he said he did some runs on Vader early before the new snow got pushed down to the bottom. Pretty busy in the morning, but started to clear out early afternoon for the game. The Challenge decision - fast groomer or bumps in the trees (rocks and roots free of charge)
  6. Might be there, was up this afternoon for a couple of runs (literally). Should have checked the website - it was a radio station day and was packed. Past week was pretty rough on the slopes. They blew a fair amout of snow, and the Challenge glades got some. It was skiable top to bottom (almost) but there are some rock flowers blooming in back of the bumps. Only did one run - had just sharpened my edges after the damage from last Sunday. TBolt glade was wiped out, but One Park glade looked OK. The bumps on Exhibition looked good (still a little small), but sections that didn't get snow blow over them were lumps of solid ice. A fair amout of loose snow on the slopes, but solid ice underneath, and I don't know if the crowd today will leave much - hope the groomers can do their magic.
  7. Last time the built seeded moguls on Exhibition, it took a few days to round off the tops and pack them down a little.
  8. From JF facebook. Anyone have a report on them?
  9. Finished up the weekend with a couple hours Sunday afternoon. Things were in better condition than last Sunday, but Challenge and Tbolt glades starting to show some rocks. Going to need to work on my edges this week. Looks like a tough week on the slopes coming up.
  10. Too true - 30 seconds and 6 turns to get down Floyds.
  11. Re Dan's picture of me taking a picture of Floyd's. What is missing from the photo? People. Even on a Saturday, at 8:30 you literally have the mountain to yourself.
  12. Hmm, you would think Photobucket would keep the same link when you move the photo to an album. Happyland 1st slope 2nd slope 3rd slope Bottom slope
  13. Dan and Guitar73 at the top of elevator.
  14. Phone battery died (had it in an outside pocket). Some photos from today while it still had some juice (didn't get Dan's Vader run on video). Floyds First headwall in Happyland Second headwall Third headwall Last section below the race shack (EMtn lift on right. Dan and Mark at top of Vader (just before the battery died)
  15. Happyland like silk. SkiDan just dropped into the Vader. Didn't waste any time getting that fresh pow pow.
  16. Nice morning skiing, 11 degrees and cloudy first thing. A lot of new snow blown in. Slopes pretty quiet. Floyds was great - smooth and good snow. Very fast on both sides. (Even got dear wife to run it a couple times). River Shot was a little choppy with some ungroomed areas on both sides, some small rollers and bumps. Probably be groomed out tomorrow. Didn't see anyone go down the Vader. TBolt was also a little rolly but pretty nice. Again, will probably be groomed flat tomorrow. Upper glade was nice, but lower was still pretty thin. Lower TBolt left of the towers still not filled in, narrowing the trail a little. Challenge was in great shape - groomed out flat and very fast. Huge side to side carved turns. Don't like the bumps on the right - to short to get a good rhythmn going. Last Sunday, between the race gates on the left, bumps on the right, the headwalls got scraped off and there was carnage. Run of the day, though, was Happyland (Challenge glade). Open top to bottom (including below the race house down to the E Mtn chair). The 'inner' trail was covered as well as in the trees. Just one rock just barely visible that I saw. Snow was very firm hard pack, but eminently carvable. Bumps in the trees on the headwall were quite manageable at high (for me) speed. Ears ringing a little now from having the music up too high. Cutovers to under the EMtn chair were still too sketchy though.
  17. From the Jack Frost web cam, and the snow on the lift that's not running and the tree branches, looks like they blew a lot of snow on East Mountain last night.
  18. Was out this afternoon. Great snow conditions on the slopes, very firm and fast. No ice anywhere. Blowing some snow on the west side. Should be a good weekend if not too crowded. Glades are still pretty sketchy though. Bumps on Challenge are nice, but only on the headwalls. Preferred them on Exhibition, but not much base on the trails left side.
  19. Pretty quiet here on e Mtn. Have to say though, JF has some pretty foxy ground crew. Nearly hit one as it crossed the bottom of Floyd's.
  20. Low 30s foggy but sun is starting to peek thru. Didn't lose much cover on the groomers, but fairly soft. Elevator looks primo. Great conditions.
  21. No, but I did get passed by some of those darn race kids. 😄
  22. Did a head to head compare of Phresheez and the Navigon US and Canada Ski app. They agreed pretty well (Challenge and Tbolt maxed out at 32 on both for several runs - I was skiing faster today on my Rossis). The only significant difference was in Rivershot where P. had me max at 27 for both runs and N. had 39. I would go with Navigon - I was moving as fast as the skis would take me at the bottom of the run without tucking. Possibly P. lost the GPS signal or isn't taking readings frequently enough to catch the short section at the bottom if the headwall.
  23. Never had a wind hold on a lift, but if the wind is from the north, it blows in your face and can slow you down quite a bit.
