A crap ton fell over the past 24 hours too

New fuel filter, air filter and spark plug for the backpack leaf blower. Blow leaves, mulch and blow mulch off the lawn every other day. Sour gum trees coming down now. Was clean yesterday. IMG_1832.thumb.jpeg.c6937d1a20f9d812a5cd94d1274f3736.jpeg

Thanks for this tip!  We got an 8lb maul and husband is killing it. We had a good system going this morning, he would split large rounds in half  w maul, then I would split with axe. After an hour I said I would be happy to just do the stacking. The lumberjack workouts are hard. 😂

I like to use this once the rounds are split in half.

Sneaky snowstorm today. Mountains 7-14” forecasted. Boulder was just supposed to be rain. It’s wet heavy snow. I’m gonna be an inside cat today.

Coming back from Sacramento on 80. Heading thru SLC today and hopefully they will open 80 in Wyoming by the time we get there. Donner Pass:

ORDA keeps their pricing at last year's level - making it a more attractive option as others are raising theirs.

The passes with no holiday blackouts (the only ones I would consider are)

    Belleayre 669 adult, 369 20s, 339 teens, 239 youth

    All ORDA 859 adult, 699 20s, 439 teens, 339 youth

And they throw in the rest of this year and summer activities and buddy tix

So for the 3 of us it would run $1547

Not a bad price for that, but it means at least a 6 hr r/t every time we ski meaning we generally do all overnight trips. Will pay a bunch in gas/tolls/lodging.

From what I see, Epic doesn’t have that spring skiing add on for new pass holders?

  5. Nice morning, first chair on quad and first tracks (other than ski patrol) down Razors. Good condition. Nightmare getting a little tough. Spent most of the day on the new 6 pack.

All slopes were nice, got softer but never mushy as the morning on. Not crowded, no lift line. Geezers out in force. The bathroom before opening always reminds me of that movie scene from Trading Places, except with us geezers instead of young traders.

Brown spots are creeping in, kind of like a zombie take over.

  6. Only complaints are that people only load 3 or 4 to a chair even when it is busy, and it comes almost to a complete stop when unloading, so you can’t jump off of it early with some speed like you can the quad and Challenge Express (although I noticed today they packed snow at the front of the unloading platform so you could hop off a couple of feet early with a little bit of speed). Also the limited area at top (and bottom) tends to collect a crowd. Comfy chair though, and I like the spring assist bar

Blue has one of the largest snowmaking systems in the northeast and @saltyant was saying the snowmaking ponds are full of water.

I saw they were salting razors edge on Friday to harden the slope. From what I can see, when the salt melts a pound of snow, it can lower the temperature of an adjacent 9.4 pounds of snow by 14°F. FWIW.

Coming down past the pumphouse from Freefall, smelled a whiff of diesel exhaust. Hopefully getting ready for tonight. Must have been clear skies last night, because the slopes really firmed up for this morning. The low at home was only 37.

$290 pass for Mountain Creek not even remotely tempting even with 1000 vertical feet 105 minutes from my home. Have never had a great ski experience there though I gave it half a dozen shots when it was 45 minutes from my home. Eventually figured out the (no longer open to the public) place less than half the size and half the price a mile away was way more fun.

Hidden Valley?  I skied there a couple times, very mellow and nice compared to Vernon Valley/Great Gorge.
