  1. Have we rode together before? Are you a CBK passholder? There's not enough of us on here.
  2. I think we need RD2D in this thread for his opinions. Today was perfect at CBK and I'm guessing the same at Blue. It was a little cooler so all that heavy wet spring snow turned into tons of SUGAR now that it dried out . It is still a little choppy but much lighter and way easier to rip through, perfect spring like snow IMO.
  3. I don't know if your referring to me or not I'm definitely not a great park rider but I'm capable and I can ride through the park respectfully staying out of other peoples way. I don't really think my park related comments are negative just suggestions for improvement for everyone. Exactly, by no means am I saying to not use the Glenn lift for the park. I just want the option to be able to get into the park as a top to bottom run which seems to be what they're doing now. As long as they check park passes at the top it should make no difference in people who shouldn't be in the park entering the park. I guess ask and you shall receive. Upper Moores was rebuilt last night & they're checking passes at the top, good job CBK.
  4. I dunno I think thick spring conditions are much different on a snowboard than a ski I'd imagine skis cut through it much easier because of the narrowness and the way skies are ridden. I enjoy all weather conditions for what they are but heavy wet spring snow can be so choppy on a board it's ridiculous. The crazy chatter with every carve just wears you out faster. I've never skied in my life though so I have no idea what skiing in spring snow is like. Spring snow = Stay in the trees or stay in the park and work on harder tricks because falling on spring snow is so forgiving. I'd definitely prefer winter weather nice carve able hard pack any day over spring snow but as long as the resorts are open and there's snow to shred I'm happy.
  5. I think we need one of these threads it's been awhile. 1. Update cbkactionsports.com the park report hasn't been updated since 12/28/09 WTF? 2. Rebuild Upper/Lower Moores & Turkey trot. The seasons passing the halfway point and we haven't seen a rebuild yet...... Feels like things are starting to slack in this department already, don't drop the ball on a good thing. 3. For the love of god keep letting people into the park via Caesars/Marc and just check the passes at the top like it was today. It's so annoying having to get on the glenn lift to take a run through the park just check passes at the top. 4. The video link on the website goes to the common-grind website which is not the same up to date video page on cbkactionsports.com 5. Do something to the progression park, 2 flat boxes burried even with the snow it's pointless. Preferably move it back onto Laurel Glade & make a real progression park. Plant some trees where it currently is and turn it into a small glade run for the future. 6. Why the hell are John Bailey & Sullivan's trail rated as black diamonds? They were & still are greens. I could understand maybe if you bumped the hell out of them or something but they're flatter than flat just because you can't get to them unless you take a black they're still not black diamonds, just an obvious marketing scheme that pisses people off. 7. Pay your dedicated full time year round staff a living wage I mean really, how do the big shots sleep at night?
  6. It looks like they're finally letting people into the park via Caesar/Marc now that the pipe is open. They had the fence down today and instead stretched it across the entrance to the pipe and parks with park crew checking passes at the fence opening. I hope it stays this way, having to go to the Glenn lift to take a run through the park was really starting to get on my nerves.
  7. Alright that looks legit now. I think the pic Ross used was like 3 years old when there was a 1/4 pipe at the end bad marketing tsk tsk
  8. It looks like the Catskills are going to get the best of this storm. It probably wont give us much more than some slush in the morning Hunter is calling for 5-10"
  9. I'd go to shawnee midweek for a PASR day.
  10. Nice pics, looks great!
  11. Still falling in liquid form, I bet the roads are gonna get sketchy real soon.
  12. Currently 30F still raining.
  13. Once again not surprised & should have been expected of them.
  14. Wow that pipe looks totally legit! Good work 7springs.
  15. Currently drizzling with the temps falling fast at 32F now on Bangor mountain. 16. I enjoy reading your reports Robert and I will definitely be paying Jackson Frost a visit or two this season when the conditions are nice and we can make some turns together; although; sometimes the way you describe the snow conditions baffles me. Here's my 2 cents "Blue Ice" I dunno why ya call it Blue because smooth ice to me is just smooth ice it's not blue colored in anyway. So I would just say its smooth icy conditions get your edges tuned if you plan to go out lol. I think riding on ice can be dangerous no matter how good of a skier or rider you are. If you hit ice unexpected on a steep as you carve hard, your edge is not holding unless its sharp enough to slice an orange. Your going down if you can't balance flatboard in a boardslide like motion until your over it and back on to edge able snow. You don't run into this situation on easier trails because the riding is much more straight forward and less technical than ungroomed steeps filled with bumps rollers and other random drops. Granted none of the steeps in PA are challenging without a little ice in the mix . "GLACIER ice" If your talking about muddy snow with leaves in it, I wouldn't call it ice that's confusing it's just dirty spring snow. If it's frozen its frozen corn or frozen spring snow. "Powder" Power is mainly natural snowfall. I associate powder snow with that floating above the snow feeling you get while your a bit in the backseat holding your nose up above the snow. The soft stuff ya get from nice grooming is just sugar or sweet n low as some like to call it not even close to powder. Occasionally people say conditions are Man Made pow and that would be when they run the snowguns w/ very low water to air ratio and they condition with soft dry snow much like natural powder. You'll typically find this when a trail first opens after a super cold night of snow making. Man made pow is not easy to make, it depends a lot on the gun you are using, your water temp, & the outside temp has to be very low.

  18. Tilling up thick ice = death cookies Nobody is willing to eat all the cookies to make it safe.
  19. Get that foot healed up and lets head up north soon!
  20. Shaping snow with those machines is an art form, takes a ton of practice and skill I would imagine.
  21. Spring conditions in the Poconos hows the foot?
