  1. I like the bottom for sex and the top for Blue. If I ever park at the bottom it's because I want to meet up with the PASR's. They way I come, it would be a longer uphill drive home. In cold temps I'd push the car harder than I want before the engine warms up getting up that hill. Letting it idle for 10-15 mins is bad for my DI engine and causes excessive carbon buildup in the intake valves. At the top, I can just start up and gently push her out the exit and the engine will be warm by the time I'm down Blue Mt Drive. Plus, I don't have to wait for a lift ride when I arrive. I can just start skiing right away.
  2. I think they meant that the lift ride on a 500 foot hill is only 15 minutes. The neat thing about Bear is that no matter where you are on the mountain, you are always close to the bottom.
  3. Yes, and that includes mixed drinks. If you ever see a truly talented bartender, which is becoming rarer and rarer these days, they can crank out drinks like rock stars and do it in style.
  4. 10 minutes for a beer and a shot with like 4 other customers is an abomination. Source: I used to bartend.
  5. I would have eaten at the new place in the summit lodge if it didn't take 10 minutes just to get a beer and a shot while it was relatively empty. I left in disgust and continued skiing on a liquid diet. Upstairs bar used to have a "quick serve" station with wings, ribs, pulled pork, nachos, chili, and lobster bisque. You could go in and order food with a beer+shot and be back on the slopes in ten minutes will a belly full of food and liquid courage.
  6. For sure about tomorrow. You might be right about tonight and we can go with that since it'll make me feel better about missing it.
  7. I like crispy race courses but, in this case, I think that with a light constant drizzle and temps not going below freezing until 9ish that the course would be real nice to ski until it gets too rutted up. Even with taking a lower line than I'd like in the ruts I still think it would be fun snow. Not the fastest times, but fun to ski. I think light rain is like skiings hidden secret and makes for great carving snow on an empty mountain. Just bring the right gear waterproof gear and it's all good.
  8. Maybe I missed the discussion... but why the eff does it only precipitate when it's above freezing temps in Dec/Jan here? Noticed this the past three seasons. Upsets me greatly. We'd have like 4 feet if all that rain was snow.
  9. 317. They will probably make my kendos feel like toothpicks haha
  10. What are your new skis? I'm too lazy to stalk your posts to see if you posted elsewhere haha
  11. Oh wow. Guess I didn't miss much. Shame because switchback is one of my favorite trails. The only thing I can think of regarding the issue you described is if you move your center of mass drastically enough between the two runs you may get a different effect on the ski. i.e. if you get too aggressive and move too far forward, your skis can "wash out" on you and this effect is probably amplified by tail rocker.
  12. Yeah, never knew about the heated floor. Pretty cool.
  13. Saw some PASR's braving the cold last night. At least it must have been. The orange and blue streaks flying down razors could be none other than Jeff & Johnny breaking the atomic laws of physics. Single digits cold last night with epic surface grip. MattEdge and I met up at Barneys and the bumps were surprisingly fantastic. Basically skied razors, challenge, and Barneys all night. Never hit up switchback but whatevs.
  14. F chair. Finally. Thank you. Carry on.
  15. I missed out on that bumblebee fun last year. Fingers crossed for an epic February dump this year. Edit: dangling participle.
  16. People like to find reasons to bitch about almost anything these days. I think it's partly due to the massive widespread epidemic of entitlement and I know I'm guilty at times so I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all the things I love about Blue. 1.) Blue is super aggressive with snowmaking. 2.) From the terrain parks to the bumps runs to the race courses, Blue does a great job of catering to all skiers/riders. They even opened up some glades the past few years. That segues nicely into my next point. 3.) Blue has been adding trails/upgrading lifts for as long as I've been going there. I can't stress enough how awesome this is. I was super stoked about Nightmare/Dreamweaver and it has grown into one of my favorite trails. It truly is a different mountain than it was 20 years ago. More on the horizon? I hope so! 4.). Night skiing. It is easy to take that for granted as it is standard here in PA. It's nice not having to burn a vacation day every week to get some turns in. So what do like most about Blue?
  17. Why a Jackson Hole fiend like you would ask this is beyond me. The question you need to ask is why is anything at Blue considered a black diamond.
  18. I went up there tonight with the intention of skiing ice and icy bumps but sadly they were mowed down. I almost left right then when I saw that but decided to take the opportunity to work on some things in my skiing. It was cold and dead and I had the place to myself. Musta been dead all day because I actually found corduroy on skiers left of main st. Legit corduroy almost the whole way down almost. Razors looked ready for me to poach tonight. Seriously it is looking solid. Huge whales on challenge were forming and that shouldn't be too far behind razors. It wasn't ideal tonight but I got some good skiing in and it was better than sitting in front of my tv tonight. Glad I went.
  19. nah, I think it will be better than that with all the snow they are blowing today and will continue to blow throughout the night. It will be firm for sure but I think in a good way... I could be wrong.
