  1. Roger that. I was more replying to Salty, who was dismissing it before trying.
  2. Worn once; they don't work for me and I can't return 'em. They run a bit big for Hestras. I treated the leather with Sno-Seal, and some of it got on the fabric, but should wear off. Other than that they are in excellent condition. I wore them with additional liners, so no wear/sweat, etc on the Heli liner. Asking $100 I'm at Blue all the time beginning on Jan. 1.
  3. Wet dries. Soft snow is hella fun. Gore Tex. Don't knock it until you try it. If it's warm enough to rain it's warm enough to take your goggles off.
  4. Agree that the cold doesn't thin crowds as much as it seems it should; it was -9 when I arrived at Pico today and only got up to 6 by the afternoon. The snow was great and nobody seemed bothered by the cold. I had to bite the bullet and buy some serious down-filled mittens because I was getting frost nip in my gloves, but other than that it was great skiing and a perfectly comfortable day. Tomorrow might be a different story, though: there's a wicked wind chill forecast (25 below). I'll head to Okemo for the heated bubble chairs for sure.

    This place is nice.
  6. Just get a cheap waxing kit and watch a couple of youtube vids. It's stupid easy.
  7. I have a Ski Key and unless they've changed things around, you can use it at the racks across from the six-pack. If you have flat skis, you can use the snowboard racks by hanging the skis between the bindings. That way too, you can rack two pair of skis, as long as they aren't system bindings. There's often a line at the ski check; I wouldn't care but I already have the ski key, so it's quicker just to use it instead of the check a lot of the time.

Haha, someone wasted time reading my dumbass blog. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a great ski season at The True Mountain!

Unfair! I would never defend Camelback. I'd much rather read and be part of an active forum than a stagnant one, even if the active one comes with a lot of noise. It's basic operant conditioning: people come back for new content. Enough visits with no new content and people stop visiting, or else there are like four people who ever post and it becomes an echo chamber. Plus you're right, I DO enjoy tuning my skis and working on my bikes and I don't suck at it. You wish you had my skillz.

    Ouch. Message received.
  11. Try the 90ctis, trust me. They are very forgiving and hold an edge well. They are also very light. My other recommendation is a dark horse, but the Nordica Soul Rider is an awesome, playful ski that holds an edge well but is forgiving and fun. True Blue should have that one; I know they carry Nordica now. Edit: if your boots suck, take care of that before you demo skis. JD at Blue is a good bootfitter, just make sure you ask for him. His staff are lovely but they are salespeople more than bootfitters.
  12. Aw, Salty, I was a dick and got yelled at and yelled back and whatever. They still let me post and I jam up the threads because I really want to be a writer but all I do is grade papers so I post on PASR. If I'm still here pretty much anyone is safe.
  13. @saltyant You might call the mountain and make sure the program is up and running. A friend of mine wanted to demo a couple of skis last week and they said they wouldn't have the demo thing going until January. Edit: if it is up and running, try the Atomic Vantage 90cti, too.
  14. Indiggio was super nice and we skied a couple of runs and he gave me some great advice on my stance. I think I met Tarpon, too?? God, sorry I got a bit lost trying to remember screen name and real names and I was operating on about two hours' sleep.
  15. 100% my fault; I've been working online all day and playing around here for recreation in between bouts of grading. So, Blue was good yesterday and I met some PASRs and they were nice and it was fun.
  16. In Vermont until the 2nd burning up my Max Pass. Probably Okemo, Pico, Sunapee. Saving the K days for the spring.
  17. And that's why Ridge was admitted onto my chair and your application is....pending. I'm just goofing around, GSS. Too much rain, and at least another three days of not skiing. A girl has to entertain herself somehow!
  18. ^ that's an even more highbrow intellectual reference than the Great Gatsby. You can be on my book club chair. You speak Latin, right?
  19. Yeah, that's why I chimed in to Salty. If you're a slower skier who can't yet go into the bumps and ditches, crowded trails can get a little nerve-wracking. Everyone has their comfort level, of course. He's agonizing over hypotheticals; you know that when the Blue season pass offer rolls around in February, hell go for it. I'll supply parking lot beer for the entire month of March if it that's not true.
  20. @saltyant it sounds like you and I are probably of similar ability and skiing experience. I find that when the VIP line becomes a necessity it's then so crowded on the trails that I usually go home. You get a couple of really good hours on weekends before it gets to that point, though. I love Blue, and them being open until 10pm on weeknights means it's easy to avoid crowds and still get a lot of skiing in. Camelback is good at opening lifts as crowds increase so that you can sort of work your way across the mountain avoiding the lines at the high-speed lifts. But I never go to CBK unless I get a free pass from work and and I really want to ski on a Saturday, because I just find the trails kind of meh. And short. The February season pass deal from Blue is awesome. If you want to ski a lot, get it. (This year I got fancy and got a MAX pass so I could go to the Catskills and New England on weekends and school breaks. I should get my money's worth out of it easily, but we'll see how all the driving and paying for AirBnBs go. I'm just trying to ski a lot so I can get better as fast as possible).
  21. Agree, the lines were fine-- I was just anticipating crowded weekends; worrying too soon. I liked Main St. a lot yesterday so just stayed on the slow double much of the time.
  22. It's early; hopefully they will rope off a line soon. if they don't have a legitimate bypass for season pass holders they are going to spend all season getting yelled at on FB.
  23. No, it just puts you into the corral with everyone else. I hope they make it a distinct line soon.
